Gnosticism was a heresy. Lies. It's just plain lies. Most Gnostics took on Greek philosophy. Ohers took on Egyptian or Roman religions. (BTW, exact dates do not exist for he Gospels, Gnostc or True).

The Egyptians claimed that their God was the supreme god that produced the universe. The israelites claimed that they were of the supreme god that produced the universe. The muslims claim that they are of the supreme god that produced the universe. The Hindu's claim to have to be of the supreme god/reality. Religion is belief and faith.

Gnosticsim is much later than Jesus...2nd and 3rd centuries? Strange, when you consider that Jesus was a gnostic. Orthodox Christian religion is what came after Gnosticism, and was finalized in AD 325, while the persecution of Gnostics began a few years after Jesus. Gnosticism is actually much older than Jesus. Gnostic Christians is another story though.

The presenter could have simply turned to the sura in Qur'an that mentions "Jesus" did not die on the cross as well. Instead he presented his reasoning and proofs for his belief so that others may follow and research on their own, something you failed to include with your childish reply.
You are quite right when you say that gnostics sects did exist before Jesus. Scholars do debate when many of these sects originated and many believe they existed before Jesus. The real issue is when the gnostic gospels such as the gospel of Thomas or Peter of Judas were written. They were probably written sometime in the middle of the 2nd century CE. People who want to discount their value as historical sources claim they are written too late to be accurate.
Your "faith" is based on one source. Like "Christians", you base your faith on one source, and are easily misled. The one True Faith is the Hebrew Faith which is backed my a multitude of sources, and Judaism, Islam and Christianity are false faiths that were prophecied to mislead many by Satan. There are many different beliefs of Catholics alone and that happened before the different beliefs of Martin Luther created a VERY different church. There are Christians that believe "Jesus" is God and others that believe he was a man and still others that do not believe he was ever manifest in the flesh. These are quite a difference.

Gnostics are halfway Buddhists in thier doctrine. Ever heard of a fanatical extemist Buddist killing people of other faiths? The eastern Valintinians came from Syria, where Thomas taught. The Sethians and others were found in Egypt, as were the Nag Hamaddi books. Another group came from Turkey.

Gnosticism exist with in all streams and all religions the historical stories of gnosticism are extremely symbolic . Gnosis is not limited to one religion its a method that is used by many people in many faiths

Gnosticism is not reserved for just Christianity, Islam has Gnosticism within its' roots. People are too overly concerned with the historical roots of particular sects... When the Canonical Gospels,were selected to be included in the Bible, it was due to each of them being perceived to have a traceable link to Jesus. However non-canonical accoutns persisted, especially beyond Jerusalem, and it seems that these accounts became enmeshed in the Islamic account of his life..

SOME Christiasn Gnostics believed Jesus did not die on the cross. I am a Christian Gnostic. I believe Jesus, the person died on the cross but not Yeshua (his spirit/power). You are correct that Gnostic Christians were early and possibly the Origional Christians.
Christians did "pick & choose" scriptures, all religions do. Gnostics of all faiths respect each other because we know it is all about Love. Any faith that has a wrathful God with hatred is false, for who needs a devil?

The Egyptians claimed that their God was the supreme god that produced the universe. The israelites claimed that they were of the supreme god that produced the universe. Gnosticsim is much later than Jesus...2nd and 3rd centuries? Strange, when you consider that Jesus was a gnostic. Orthodox Christian religion is what came after Gnosticism, and was finalized in AD 325, while the persecution of Gnostics began a few years after Jesus. Gnosticism is actually much older than Jesus. Gnostic Christians is another story though.

Some gnostics are certainly not worth reading while others are real treasures.

The presenter could have simply turned to the sura in Qur'an that mentions "Jesus" did not die on the cross as well. Instead he presented his reasoning and proofs for his belief so that others may follow and research on their own, something you failed to include with your childish reply.

You are quite right when you say that gnostics sects did exist before Jesus. Scholars do debate when many of these sects originated and many believe they existed before Jesus. The real issue is when the gnostic gospels such as the gospel of Thomas or Peter of Judas were written. They were probably written sometime in the middle of the 2nd century CE. People who want to discount their value as historical sources claim they are written too late to be accurate.

@iesuolevinemoni The beliefs of Christians range from Unitarian to a triplicate "God" in 3 persons. There are countless churches with very different beliefs. There are many different beliefs of Catholics alone and that happened before the different beliefs of Martin Luther created a VERY different church. There are Christians that believe "Jesus" is God and others that believe he was a man and still others that do not believe he was ever manifest in the flesh. These are quite a difference.

I see no issue with his message, his research seems sound. The Christians that comment seem to get angry as though afraid of hearing something that contradicts their own understanding.
I am a Christian, but all of us are foolish for trying to package God into the trappings of our religions. He will do as He wills. Our job is to seek the righteous path. He will forgive our misunderstandings of scripture, so long as our hearts are true and intentions are pure.

Speaking as a Christian Gnostic, there is a half truth here. SOME ancient Gnostics believed Jesus did not die on the cross but some did. There were differing Gnostic beliefs with recognition towards different scriptures. I believe Jesus died in human form on the cross but his spiritual body stood witness to his crucifiction.

Islamic Gnosticism is very different from Gnostic Christianity. Gnosticism strayed into heresy, where they claimed Lucifer (Satan) was the true wisdom and God was the real source of Evil, and that Lucifer wants to teach that man is himself god (astaghfirullah!). This theological BS gave rise to Knights Templars, Cathars, Rosicrucians, Freemasonry, Bavarian Illuminati and others who practiced and do practice summoning and evocation of demons/Jinn using manuscripts from Babylon.

Islamic Gnosticism is simply what the literal definition means which is "knowing" or spiritual path towards Allah (swt). This is by extensive prayer, night prayers, dua, supplications, fasting, etc etc. The Quran is vitally important in this path as is all the compulsory daily practices.
