@ghkouroulis Yes it is straight out of goju ryu.....as kyokushin is a hybrid of shotokan and goju ryu ..masoyama studied both styles and as a result, he extracted the best of both to create his style
having done some kyokushin and more recently some goju karate, I find myself coming back to this video often. It illustrates the differences in styles and schools in the same katas - the emphasis on certain steps and different timings between steps really drive home how much I like kyokushin (as well as goju) Osu and thanks
I Practiced Kyokushinkia Karate Under Tadashi Nakamura, and Shigaro Yama at both the Brooklyn Academy of Music and the 14 Street Dojo, prior to my joing the Army in 1966. I returnined to the 14th Street Dojo where I completed my training and awarded my Third Degree Black Belt. Excellent, teachers, I miss the practice.
Some people should just open up and let their true kiai shine with power!
Kiai is a battle cry, not a wussy girly yell! so it really anoys me when practitioners have a weak kiai, they will allways seem weak to me because their kiai is weak, as apose to somone with a fearsome kiai, i tend to have more respect for them, and i know they are strong!
That's not something you should do, because you will interpret movement to your means, bending the kata... instead of bending yourself toward movement.
Sensei is there for a reason, even if we don't see it.
as said before, this vid is being done by count. If It was being done to his own time and interpretation im sure it would be an entirely different kata. I also feel that if you are not above this level then maybe you dont have the right to comment.
I had seen many highly graded karateka in Seido perform kata so beautifully its what really inspired me to persist... isnt that that the spirit of OSU?
eine sehr gut ausgeführte Kata, die sich nicht nur durch technische Fähigkeiten auszeichnet, sondern auch durch Körperhaltung, Hüfteneinsatz und die Atemtechnik.
