  • Nice catch on the operation lifesever IC SD40-2

  • I heard a P5 like this once, except I think it was even worse than this one. It was ridiculously screechy. In fact, I couldn't even tell a train was coming at first!!!

  • Worse than this one? Wow. I was kinda upset when I saw this was on an ex-Conrail unit. This thing needs a good K5LAR24 horn.

  • Yeah, K5LAs are probably my favorite horn, just as long as they don't sound like the one on NS 6699!!! That one's a "meowing K5."

  • That car at the beging is a pussy i would have sped up

  • messedup ns horn man that sucks

  • where was this filmed at?

  • I shot this at Fostoria, Ohio. They get 120-145 trains per day. There is a junction with two CSXT lines (ex-B&O and ex-C&O), and an NS line (ex-NKP). You should try this spot, it's great! I saw 86 trains in 15 hours the last day I was here. :)

  • think the ic sd40-2 is a ex bn, nice!

  • Why would a Illinois Central SD40-2 be an Ex. BN SD40-2? Does that make any sense?

  • That horn sound horrible.Sounds like it has an air leak.

  • Yeah, it needs a K5LA!

  • wow i saw that same lash-up but the 2nd unit waz a cn unit on a cn line

  • Conrail's are still cool

  • Agreed.

  • Illinois Central unit cool

  • Yeah, it was really cool. I would've liked it better if the Illinois Central was on the lead instead of the third slot. The P5 horn on that one probably would've sounded a hell of a lot better than that joke of a horn that was on that ex-Conrail unit. Where did that guy's Leslie RS3L go?

  • Is it just me, or does the IC paint scheme closely resemble NS?

  • That was an AWESOME Nathan P5 horn!

  • that ex-conrail unit deserves so much better than a cruddy new cast Piss5. ive always associated conrail units with pretty horns (my brain is filled with a chorus of RS3Ls) so if they wanna put a P5 on there, it needs to be the pretty old cast.

  • I think it needs a Nathan K5LAR24.

  • sorry to jump on the bandwagon (lol) but id love to see it with a perfectly tuned RS5T.

  • I think most people would. That horn sucked!

  • I don't know about the RS5T, but I definately agree with you on the RS3L. Greatest fucking horn ever.

  • they have the same great tone, but the 2 extra notes on the RS5T give you a horn whose sound gets under your skin like no other, IMO.

  • That's the only problem I have with the RS5T. They're both great horns, don't get me wrong, but the RS3L has a much richer tone. The RS5T just has that eerie tone to it. My Dad has a video from Greg Scholl Video Productions on the Arkansas and Missouri Railroad. One of the locomotives featured in it is T6 #12. It has what I believe to be an RS5T. That horn almost gave me nightmares when I was little, it was unbelievably creepy.lol

  • oh. wish i could hear it. yes, the RS3L is the same tone without those 2 other bone chilling low notes that i like and you dont.

  • Idk, maybe it was a good creepy. I haven't watched the tape in so long. I'd have to listen to an RS5T again.

  • Here we go. That sounds a lot different than the one on the tape, but it sounds bloody brilliant.

    watch?v=hmyyVzTXbRc

That should be it. It should come up with a CSX SD50-2 with an RS5T.

  • Yeah, but they sound great nonetheless!

  • I have to go with the RS5T,it's the king of horns.

  • That horn almost squialls like a tea kettle

  • I need to come to Fostoria!

  • I hate P5NCs but the old cast P5s are really good

  • agreed on that. the old ones sound similar to the M5 the way theyre supposed too. true low maintenance M5s the way they were supposed to be.

  • Don't get mad, but I like the New Cast P5 horns better. As long as they're tuned right.

  • I hadn't noticed until recently, but you're right about that, the gates did lower a little late. The train was moving slowly, but still...there are idiots in this world who try to go around lowered gates.

  • I know that all too well. Whenever I go railfanning I usually see at least a couple idiots do it. Great videos, by the way. Nice motive power.

  • It seems like that crossing has a really short activation time, because the train was pretty much on top of that crossing when the gates finally came down. Great video.

  • I thought that P5 horn sounded amazing the whole time, i don't think it sounds crappy...

  • The strange part is, that crappy P5 horn sounded better in the distance than up close LOL

  • Thank you for the feedback! It surprised me, but at the same time I had been thinking to myself, "You know, if I ever get to see an Illinois Central, it'll most likely be here."

  • Nice video man, awesome catch with the ex- IC, 5 stars

  • I seen him in Pennsylvania!! (Not The Train) just the first conrail sd60I. I thought that horn sounded familiar!!!
