If only they added a sound feature. like the humming, clash. Im trying to get a custom Darth Maul 1. And I think instead of getting a red Led Ill just get a colour changer Led with all colours like yellow. But is it just as bright as normal Leds? I would want the blade to be on the same colour as I left on. If thats possible, Iv seen the Anakin plastic toy lightsaber colour changer doing it so why not a Led. And are the hilts stronger than my Mr Master replica Fx chips the colour and metal off.
@nintendork2000 Im way too lazy to make my own, I'd rather just buy it already made. Once I have the money for one I might ask JQ's Sabers to make a custom double bladed hilt that can be detached like the darth maul hilt and then they can make the blade removeable and stronger, add some extra sounds, make led change colour and super strong light and install rechargeable battery pack.
hum prety good saber but the flickering idk maby get a offical star wars saber that changes color rip out driver put it in the 1 u got now but keep the led i lilke the colors nice and bright but i dont know if it will still flicker maby get a more dense blade idk just trying to help
THX, found 3watt luxeon rgb, gonna try one later, just got 2 ultrasabers and found how easy they are make, went to homedepot and got parts to make my own, will post vid soon (I hope)
The PVC plastic ones? Yeah, those are really easy to make. I've done six of them, including a double bladed one. It's a cheap way to get into saber building. Maybe I should do a video tutorial.
that would be a cool gesture. Would help noob's to make them. I just got some PVC and cutters & paint's, just need wires, led's batterypacks and blades... you know where to get the blades?
The 1" thin wall blades from The Custom Saber Shop are good blades. They look even better if you roll up some cellophane gift wrap inside of them. I've been thinking of doing a blade film tutorial as well. I'd better get busy...
So pretty!!! I love the different color combinations you can get with it -- I think it'd be pretty cool to have an amber blade myself. Really creative, five stars.
Have to admit, though, my favorite part about this video is the way you say 'aboot' for 'about'. XD If you're not a yooper already, you should be.
Unfortunately, no! which is the main reason I'm so envious of your ingenuity. :) It's one of those things that I'd have loved to have had growing up, so seeing models getting better and better as time goes on is really exciting. I really am a total nerd -- I always thought having a personalized blade (color, hilt, etc) would be a fun way to express your individuality.
I have one of those 'Color Shine' flashlights as well. Does the LED module have a single dome or multiple domes? That light has a color memory function. Hold the momemtary switch until it turns off, then turn it back on with the momentary switch and it'll remember your last color. I'd avoid three-Rebel Endor stars. They have poor optics, and the blue Rebel that Luxdrive uses is currently under product recall. Instead, I recommend the Lamina Atlas RGB+, it has higher lumens and a single dome.
Pretty nice. I'm not sure if it's just the camera or what, but the first color looks more dark purple to me. Is it more white in person? Keep up the good work!
Yeah. The lens from the flashlight snapped right into a Lux III lens holder, and the lens holder snapped onto the LED like it was made for it. Cool, huh?
Sweet Obi-dar! It DEFINITELY shows up on camera, heheh. That is pretty darn cool!
Doesn't matter if it's not the brightest in the bunch, that is REALLY nice for an RGB saber. Even the flash is cool, considering hey... most "light only" sabers... don't have many effects.
Great stuff! Keep it up, and maybe someday add sound for one really gnarley saber... :)
I kind of like the strobe effect. My camera will go up to an 8 second exposure. I want to set it on a tripod and spin the saber and run around like a fool. Should make some interesting pics.
hahahha, that should be SIIIIIICK when you try it out. You can like... draw all sorts of images... write your name... spell out "Die, Jedi", etc. heheheh
P.S. I posted a link to your vid on the LED thread at TF.N... someone was asking about taking a white LED and filtering it... I suggested they might try something more akin to this. :)
how do you put it together and how much did the parts cost and where did you get them?

I wonder if perhaps a capacitor in line with the LED would get rid of the flicker? may have to be a big one though.. :-?

where did you get the flashlight? Name brand? want to look of fleabay to find one.

I tried to post a link, but it wouldn't let me.
Just do a search for "RGB flashlight". They have one there with a 3W Cree LED that should work.

I can't put a link in here, but just type:
w w w. the custom saber shop. com
with no spaces.
If that fails, just google the name.

I'm Canadian. It's a similar sounding dialect. I've been told before that I say "aboot". Sounds perfectly normal to me.
Do you build lightsabers?

In person, you can see a little bit of a purple tinge to it, but the camera seems to show it more.

Holy crap, that thing looks so sweet. I would love to own one! <3 :D
Btw, I would definitely go with the purple, that's my saber if I had one ^^

Unfortunately, I somehow killed the red element of the LED, so now I only get variations of blue and green.
As I said at TCSS, I'm going to get an Endor tri-rebel and see if I can make it work with this driver. THAT would be sick!
Just need to figure out the optics.
