I am not a Cheryl hater at all but would like to say that she does not have a natural singing voice, her notes waver and she cannot control her key at all, at times there are notes that are very sharp and it doesn't sound good. Her profession is NOT to be a singer, as she is not good enough to call herself this, she is a brand. But. this song is lovely and she gives it go, I just wouldn't want to hear her sing live, I'd rather she mimed. :-)

But to put it all in perspective: it was in the beginning of the whole singing competition tv show thing. The competition got better and better with tiny steps.
But tell me this honestly: do you think if Cheryl would addition now, she get passed the judges home (in x factor terms)?

I actually think this is incredibly beautiful. And that's not just because I'm a Cheryl fan. I truly think she sang it beautifully and we have to remember that she was just starting out. I've watched numerous clips of her on this show and she is dreadful each time. She is everything I despise about the current music business. If you're a grade D singer you can make it as long as you're a grade A beauty. On the other side of the coin, a grade D looker can be an A+ singer and nobody in the business wants her.

CHERYL COLE: perfect example of how someone who has a passion to something starts being crap but tries hard and loves what she does and becomes a super star :) it's all about trying hard and believing in yourself ! Nobody can say this is a good vocal in comparison to the standard expected on the X Factor nowadays. However, I do remember watching this series just as religiously as I do the X Factor and at the time - I didn't expect as much as I do today from the contestants. We voted for her and the other members of the group. They probably wouldn't have made it through even the first stage of current talent shows, but, things have become a lot more complicated in regard to these shows....

This would be slated in todays XFactor, but I think that's more about the talent thats around now.. and a little to do with technology. It's very rare that a contestant on X Factor would get up on stage with such a simple backing track with no extra vocals in. Still... I don't think Cheryl's the best singer. I always thought Nicola Naidne or Javine were teh best singers.
Cheryl Cole is only a good performer, i.e. with backing dancers, pyrotechnics and costumes. This performance is stripped back, just her and a mic, and it is simply AWFUL.

CHERYL COLE: perfect example of how someone who has a passion to something starts being crap but tries hard and loves what she does and becomes a super star :) it's all about trying hard and believing in yourself ! Nobody can say this is a good vocal in comparison to the standard expected on the X Factor nowadays. However, I do remember watching this series just as religiously as I do the X Factor and at the time - I didn't expect as much as I do today from the contestants. We voted for her and the other members of the group. They probably wouldn't have made it through even the first stage of current talent shows, but, things have become a lot more complicated in regard to these shows....

Well i dont think if you've noticed this or not, but this isn't the X factor, this is a competition to be part of a 'band' and not every singer in a band is perfect. Sad how some people have nothing better to do than leave jealous comments on videos, if you're all so much better, you try and get as far as she has.

This would be slated in todays XFactor, but I think that's more about the talent thats around now.. and a little to do with technology. It's very rare that a contestant on X Factor would get up on stage with such a simple backing track with no extra vocals in. Still... I don't think Cheryl's the best singer. I always thought Nicola Naidne or Javine were teh best singers.

Cheryl Cole is only a good performer, i.e. with backing dancers, pyrotechnics and costumes. This performance is stripped back, just her and a mic, and it is simply AWFUL.

I watched them turn away far superior singers even in the opening auditions this year. Cheryl had the audacity turn initially turn away Paige Richardson in the first round this year when she herself in her first audition sounded like your older sister screaming out a tune in the shower.

Cheryl's not a likeable judge anymore because of Gamugate, refusing to vote one of her acts out and attacking wagner was very unprofessional of her and she was bang out of order that was when really she showed her true colours then again she's never had a nice personality to begin with.
