  • Hey thanks for this review. I really needed to see this. Would you say there is significantly more play/swing when walking in the safariland than the blackhawk because of only one "pivot" point on the belt where as the blackhawk has two?

    Thanks!

  • What 1911 is that?

  • I hate the fact that I have to buy a blackhawk light. I really like my droplef but it really sucks that I cant really use a light in Cqb when we are training. I hope that blackhawk adjusts the holsters so that the light will mount undernieth like a normal Safariland. So I might just have to use a S aariland.

  • @GhostAirsoftUnit I've seen guys use the Serpa leg platform with a blade tech holster mounted on

  • Nice video. I prefer Safariland, it's not as bulky.

  • If I can find someone to put a rail on my 1911 so I could have the light I'd so carry that. But right now it's just up in the air. I'm just doing research and day dreaming so when I get the chance I have a better idea of what I want.

  • In your opinion though which one is more easier to carry / wear all day?

  • @MrDewey85 they both feel the same. it ultimately boils down to how much gun you're willing to carry. the 1911 weighs down a lot more than a polymer gun

  • From watching your video I really liked the sound of the Safariland where I really didn't think I'd like it at all..... however, I don't like the sound of the light sitution with that holster. So not cool of them to make you use their lights for that.

  • Does safriland make a holster that will work with the springfield operator 1911 with light rail?

  • @AdoreYouInAshXI they might. i haven't checked. i know they make the holsters that have the lights attached to them, but i haven't seen any that are for 1911s without the light attached. they might fit in the standard 1911 holster.

  • From the guys I know who buy gear, the general consensus seems to be that Safarilands offer a bit more security for your gun, whereas SERPAs offer a slightly faster draw.

Also, stay frosty and come home in one piece man, I have a few friends out in A-stan and Kuwait, myself.

  • @CohorsUrban thanks bro! much appreciated!

  • @bensharmak I was just checking out this vid (airsoft related) and I realised you're a real hero serving his country. May you come home safely

  • I really like the Safariland Holsters. I had more difficulty with the SERPA than I did my 6005. With the 6005, my hand always falls where I want for gripping it. Both holster's need training and I personally thing the rotating hood is the better system.

  • @theArmedJanitor that's on my shortlist of videos to make. i'll do it when i come home from deployment

  • Nice job Ben, I was looking at those two rigs for a 1911 and will be going with the Blackhawk thanks to your vid.

  • @LeMilicien glad you enjoyed the vid!

  • Nicely done CalGun brother!

  • @ZombieTactics thanks bro!

  • the other thing though, if you dont like the xiphos then safari land is the way to go. i prefure there locking mech too :)

but for me the comfort over wieghed the locking mech and better choice of lights :)

  • nice video man :)

i like both for different reasons too :)

blackhawk had a better long term comfort. they are the only one with 2 belt straps. i have used multiple single belt strap platforms and they always move around different possitions on my leg and its irritating as hell! i cant stand that. where you set the blackhawk up on your leg, stays in they possition. so for me that comfort is hands down better then all the other thigh rigs.

i also have grown to love the xiphos light...

  • @benbangui i agree with the comfort on the blackhawk. if i'm buying a holster for a gun without a light, i'd definetly go blackhawk.

  • @bensharmak ive thought about using the leg platform on the blackhawk and then mounting other holsters on it :) check out chanderson1 he has some holster reviews of a company that has a simular style holster as the safari. but its a nicer actual button push that throws the stap forward. again, great vid! :)

  • @benbangui if you're talking about the g-code holster, i have that already lol. i use that as my uspsa rig. that vid is currently in the works :P

  • @bensharmak i think that is it :) nice looking forward to watching it :)
