There was just a show on BBC2 last weekend in England (July 16 2011) about "secrets of the pop song" and they showed Alan singing the original "I love rock n roll" with the Arrows from 1975.
Arrows singer Alan Merrill did this song in Tokyo 1-25-10 live backed by a Japanese all star band at the memorial "Concert for Hiroshi" (the late Hiroshi Oguchi). It's on youtube.
@thefistoftruth Yes, and also Arrows lead singer Alan Merrill just performed this song at Club Crocodile in Tokyo at the concert for Joe Yamanaka (Flower Travellin Band) on August 11, 2010. It was great.
Arrows singer Alan Merrill did an amazing live version of this at Duo Exchange Tokyo a few weeks ago with a big backing band. The audience went crazy. He also did his hits from the band Vodka Collins that he is the singer of.
@fabnekko He did this song again in Yokohama last month at Club Sensation, backed up by the band Tensaw. He did this song along with about 25 other songs and played two sets a night.
I knew Alan through my friend who is a music writer and a good friend of mine.I heard a lot about you and I finally be able to take a look at what you look like!
I love,I LOVE ROCK'N ROLL and Vodca Collins as well.thanks for a good music and really thanks for uploads.

Cool. For so many years I assumed this was a Joan Jett original. Never even heard of these guys before. Joan didn't change the arrangement of the song at all.
@chickenindaloo Alan Merrill of the Arrows just did a great show at Club Crocodile in Tokyo August of 2010, and he will be back in Japan at Club Sensation in Yokohama Japan in November 2010, playing there for several nights.
Alan Merrill performed this song and 21 other songs in London at the rock club Lexington in Islington a few weeks ago, Nov 5th, 2011.
