I first heard this oration on an LP by Dominic Behan back in the 60s when I was a teenager. I'm a Brit but this moved me so much, it wholly changed my life, I started to read the Irish version of history to understand why there was so much animosity. I'm a nationalist and anti-monarchist, even more, I'm anti-colonialism by any country. I love the film of Mise Eire, it's so evocative of the fight against tyranny. The last few sentences are so prophetic and Britain ignored them at their peril.
the most poetic, influencial, and beautiful words i have ever heard..for padraig pearse to die for his country's men and women and their future in ireland is the most selfless act and he is a true patriot and martyr..it's people like O'Donavan Rossa and Pearse who achieved the Ireland we have today..and it is their words of wisdom and achievments that will help us to achieve the Ireland of tommorow... 32 counties of an Ireland "not free mearly, but gaelic aswel" THIOCFAIDH AR LA!!!
A statistical analysis of indigenous irish versus those transplanted to displace and destabalize the indigenous Irish population could be used to show the projecrted statistical growth of the indigenous Irish had they not been infiltrated with non-indigenous people. It would clarify the impact of intentional movement of British citizens into populations of indigenous Irish. I agree, Padraic Pearse words are eloquient. He was a genius.
If I could choose one person from history to meet, it would definitely be Padraic Pearse! What a brilliant, eloquent, wise and brave man! I can't think of anyone I admire more!
Nothing inspires a United Ireland, and all Fenians like the words of Pearse.R,I.P. Pearse, the greatest man of the 20th century.Never was there a more selfless, brilliant man.
Thanks for uploading this! Fantastic background music and whoever delivered the speech for this audio, good job! Was this the film that Michael Collins had arranged to have produced?

At 1:50 the person on the right of the screen at the funeral is James Connolly.

It is not just the English we have to throw out of our country but the elite ruling class they have left behind to rule over us.

Cheapann siad go bhfuil siad pacified na hÉireann, a cheapann siad go bhfuil siad ceannaithe leath dúinn agus imeaglú an leath eile.
Cheapann siad go bhfuil siad á dtuar gach rud, a cheapann siad go bhfuil siad curtha ar fáil in aghaidh gach rud.
Ach an amadáin, an amadáin, an amadáin.
Fhág siad dúinn ár marbh na bhFíníní, agus cé gur's hÉireann i seilbh na uaigh's,
Ní chuirfear na hÉireann un-saor in aisce a bheith ar a shuaimhneas.
