Yes....They ARE two different things. Weather changes in small periods of time . The hottest decade in history is not negated because it happened to snow. Change in climate occurs over a longer period of time, five years, ten years etc. Right now, Climate change is fairly small, a little over one degree difference. If it gets over 4 degrees we then face a serious problem.
