Saw some EVs on the roads in France and charging carports like the one in this video too, great they have the infrastructure in LONDON as well. Although there is lots of talk, haven't seen any EVs on the roads in Japan yet although Nissan looks like they are going to be the first to crack the Japanese market with the LEAF Infrastructure to follow soon after?
Review does not hightlight the downside, 17K price vs the 7k price for the petrol car. Plus the batteries will need replacing in 5-7 years time at about 4-5k. The C1 is a good donor vehicle but needs a cheaper conversion i.e. using lead acid batteries with a range of 30-40 miles and a total price of about 9K (donor vehicle without petrol engine will be about 5k, leaving 4 k for a cheap conversion)
When are these BEV makers going to realize that it's better to employ hydraulics to make the batteries last LONGER. You won't be draining the batteries so quick becuase it will be hyraulic pressure that will move the wheels as well slowing them down. You probably won't need as much batteries too
i tell ya one thing... i really am gana miss combustion engines, dirty? yes, bad for the environment? definatley! but its the noise, the feel and the experience of them that electric cars are going to have to work hard to wrench me away from, i love the feel and noise my car makes, i dont want to loose it, i fear the future of cars i tells ya lol
It's a wrong idea to have charging post at the parking lot .
In reality you can't really do that (charge it and walk away) you have to know that vandalism will always be there .
A better and easier way would be - once the battery near flat , u drive your car to a battery station and get a fully charge battery replacement instantly like the way japanese do it .
it wasnt an argument genius. read his statment he gave two options, stating one was better, I disagree with the assessment that it was better, which conversely means that I believe rechargin is the better way.
Do I have to spell it out for you? sheesh, rub those two cells together and catch some understanding.
Yes, ev'ie is available now but it's a bit steep. Mitsubishi are releasing their iMiev this year closely followed by the Citroen zero and the Peugeot version. Renault are coming to market with four EV's in 2011.
The electric car is emerging thanks to the internet, that put the truth on people minds. If there weren't, this subject would still berried, like in the decades before, to public eye.
Electric cars are coming, but the Li batteries are a huge cost when it comes time for a new one, for that car try 10-15K USD, so to say its very low cost to operate is not quiet true. And li batteries have a limited lifetime no matter if your using it or not, 7 years is not correct, its 5 years.
They great, but you better really count the cost and know what it is.
That's true now, but do you really think in 5 years that the batteries will cost the same. Heck no. You'll probably have a choice between a replacement pack for relatively cheap and a better pack for more. And think of all the maintenance you're NOT doing in that time...it adds up quickly.
Plus a couple hundred/year for oil changes (yes you can do it cheap yourself but not everyone does) plus any other engine issues which CAN be very expensive, plus which do you think is going to be more extreme, the increase in fuel prices or the decrease in battery cost? And another consideration. I'd like to see you pay $15,000 to keep your gas car running when the world runs out of oil.
you are buying a new car, electric or gas or diesel its called warranty. 5 years, about the time a lipo battery pack is crap. I dont need to think about it.
Also swapping a battery pack every 5 yrs at 15gs or swapping out a engine after 300k miles (around 15yrs) fo 5k.
Fact is these guys are screwing you with their electrics. Realize that, these guys arent your budies and arent here to help you, fuel or electric. That is my point, not whether electric or fuel is a better way.
@d3adp001 is it really 15K pounds for a new battery every 15 years!? I look forward to having those in use in the nordic countries, I bet they will cost 50% more than in the UK though, because of our lovely tax policy.. it I have to spend 15K euros every 5 years, the whole idea is out the window..
Worthwhile electric cars have been around for years, but there true performance is not being publicised, rather the opposite. Try "who killed the electric car" for the truth!
Güzel calisma... 2010 Yilinda artik sarj etmeye de gerek kalmayacak (hava ile elektrik üreten bir jenaratör) ile beslenerek sarj derdi de sona erecek.
There is little to no 'real' information in this at all. Its simply advertising.
Its performance is exaggerated at best. 6hrs on a 16A supply at best you'd get 23Kw/h of 'fuel' This wouldn't go far at dual carriage/motorway speeds at all, although I accept its designed for town/city.
Its also misleading by saying charge it for under a pound. Perhaps at night with economy dual rate electricity. But don't forget to mention if you have this your daytime rate will be higher.
it costs a lot, electric cars should cost less, so people would buy them. There's too much petrol left all around the world

Just don't forget that parking is only free so long as EVs are exclusive. Once they become mainstream, back come the tickets, charges and fees

maintance in 5 years? its almost nothing, maybe a couple hundred bucks if your very lazy and pay people to do it.
And the cost may go down, but the value of your dollar will go down in proportion.
15k/5 years= 3000$ per year
fuel ave 20k mile per year 3.00 per gal 20mpg
20000/20=1000galx3=3000 WOW isnt that amazing.
not really, thats the math they used to calc the price.

Hi, EVnut :-)
I also hope, that they will release the left hand steering wheel drive soon, as well.
I already have lobbied at my nearest Citroen dealer, to give them a signal, that there is a consumer demand.
