A wasted opportunity. Great insightful conversation absoutely ruined with this artsy fartsy, zoom in-zoom out camera style. After a minute ot two, I had to take my eyes away and just listen. May as well been a radio interview.
I have read almost every John Irving book, he is a phenomenal writer and I wish more than anything that I can one day meet him..by the way to the cameraman, nice job dimwit
For such a brilliant writer, Irving does not deserve such a shoddy camera job. I could not sit through and finish this clip with the extremely distracting and unwelcomingly dizzying angles and zoom-ins. What an utter disappointment.
I have never been big on meeting celebrities, but John Irving has to be the exeption. Ruth in "Widow for a year" talks about all the crazies that want her to tell their story. John Irving doesn't have to tell my story. He already has in bits and pieces throughout his books. The scene where Jack "looses it" takes place less than 200 feet from where my favorite bar used to be. And yes, I have an "older men"-thing.
My Open University tutor mentioned once John Irving and Owen Meany.. I read 'A prayer for Owen Meany' and 'The water method man'. Great, great reads, please do attempt to read them, Irving is such an amazing writer!!
"Owen Meany" is a true masterpiece. It's like a jigsaw puzzle where all the pieces finally fit. I've read and reread this book a few times, and each time I find something new in it.

And, BTW, I'm a huge Irving's fan anyway :)

Is the cameraman just learning how to record? It makes me dizzy !!! Why don't you just hold it in one place?
