Wow! great rendition...... I played bass professionally back in the sixties and seventies until I got caught up in the boatbuilding profession. I'm just amazed how good the bass sounds,my style of playing.
It's wonderful to see all tthis technology being put to creative use. Surry with a fringe on top is great to play in the jazz idiom. Just love the Blossom Derie version with Jack Parr.
Great! I find your channel by chance, and I thank you so much for this precious tutorials; I was listening today to this piece played by Ahmad Jamal (from the cd "The legendary OkeH and Epic sessions")...
Wow Doug! I would so Love to be able to have you as a mentor! I have watched so many of your videos and my jaw always hits the ground. Even if I can't come close to playing it, I try to take all of your comments to get a better understanding of how you do what YOU do. Thank you so much! Happy Holidays :)
Absolutely fantastic Doug. That piece means a lot to me. I live in Oklahoma. I've done multiple performances of the musical and I've also sang "Surrey" as a duet with our symphony orchestra.
I've never tried a jazz piano version...and you can be sure I'm off to try that right now.
Thanks for this musical offering. I hope you have a very merry Christmas.
aaah...i've heard better!.....( but inside my head what am i really saying...lets..take a listen shall we??.."OH LAWD TAKE ALL MY TOES , MY EYES, MY NOSE... AWAY and BLESS ME WITH ANY FACSIMILE OF DOUG'S GIFT)...LOL ..Way to go Doug...hey i would love to hear u do some of Vince's charlie brown stuff...Vince's gift was also one of those who can generate wonderfully comforting sounds from the piano. Man what a touch.
Yes, I am completely agree with what "Lot2learn" wrote. A real job, clean, with a description that makes it easy to follow and understand, but at the same time
advanced. And I also add that your way of playing makes this a great masterpiece.
Once again your mastery of so many different styles is magnificently displayed. You blend them together to form your own unmistakable sound. A truly wonderful post Doug! I love the format of the presentation as well. A clean layout, easy to follow and informative.
In the thirds from E flat major sowing at 1:56, why did one note lack the third?
