I think the alot of the people who work for the job centre plus could care less about doing their job and help people back to work. All they care about is filling in teh spaces in forms saying that they've done their job and so their covered. So long as their ass is covered they couldnt care less if your starving to death.
Myself for example. I have numerous psychological problems and a minor heart condition. I'm 29 and I can never seem to hold down a job. (Continued)
Now I technically should be on incapacity benefit because of these reasons as I simply cant cope with most jobs. But I WANT to work. I want my life back. This isnt helped by so called Advisors who are arrogant, pushy and confrontational. There is one person in particular who I've had to deal with numerous times who actually makes me scared to go into the job centre because I cant deal with his bullying attitude.
He also keeps pushing me for jobs I wouldnt be able to cope with such as (continued)
Callcentre work, pressured sales jobs, things like that as my past work experience is almost exclusively in retail. The kind of jobs that if I did get them I'd lose them within a month or so because I simply couldnt cope with the high pressure situation. But they dont care. So long as they get you off the unemployment list by any means necessary they dont care if you die from the stress of the job.
I have to meet this advisor next week every two weeks from now on. I am not looking forward to it
Ok I'm being a little over dramatic by using words like starving and dying. It just emphasises my anger and anxiety towards the whole situation and the jobcentre plus as a whole.
I would be quite happy with a part time job, say 20+ hours a week working in something like a book shop, card shop. Somewhere slow paced that I could cope with. Or even night shift filling shelves. Not glamorous but atleast I could cope, I think.
But the pushy attitude of the jobcentre staff make me want to live off -
my very small savings that I managed to scrape together during my last job of xmas period 2008.
This has turned a little rambling but just shows how passionate I am about the subject. But everyone is passionate when they feel they've been treated wrongly dont they. ^_^ heh
Anyway thats how I feel about the job centre. And I'll cut this short. I should have made this a private mail instead its so long. Oh wells.
Sorry to have bothered you. Just needed to vent my rage and anxiety I guess ^_^
your situation sounds a lot like mine was, where the DWP staff were simply more interested in hitting their targets no matter the cost and no matter how unsuitable the job was you ended up in, theyd simply say "well, a jobs a job isnt it?"..no, that is not the case, if you cannot actually do the job, or it is something that you are unhappy in, you wont be in long term unemployment, as your bosses will see that you are struggling, and they will sack you, putting you right back at square 1.
I avoid confrontation like the plague so making a complaint is totally alien to me. And even if I did I doubt anything would be done. In fact it'd probably just attract unwanted attention from Jobcentre staff.
Its really a vicious circle.
Well I hope you do well in your new job and you never have to go back to a job centre ever again.
Dont you wish it was the 1940s again? Jobs for everyone for life! ^_^
@Posthuman7 - hi sorry about the crap quality of the sound, this video was made about a year ago using my old laptop which had a few problems with the mic pick up. most of the points i make in it are irrelevent now as time has moved on and things have changed a bit, so dont worry too much about what is said in it.
The jobcentre is not designed to help you. Its there to ease conscience of state. It is a
smokescreen to give the illusion of empowerment.

Exactly. Thank god someone understands ^_^
And how do you fight something like that?
