  • shoot it, it not that impressive

  • I'm with ya' , Colt Pythons appreciate in value better than gold it seems. They are in the $1600 range lately , in good condition.

  • People don't realize, but a Colt Trooper Mk3 is basically the same gun but at a fraction of the price. Same frame, almost same grips, same cylinder, same hammer. Only thing different is the barrel design. People are catching on tho and buying up Colt Troopers so if you want one I would buy one now before they take off as well. Pythons are way over priced imo.

  • I would like to get one bit my budget is pretty tight. How much did you pay for yours? and where did u buy it?

  • GET 2 SO YOU CAN DUAL WIELD LIKE IN COD AND PWN N00B5 jk the revolver is amazing. It does look "alive". Fine piece of American Craftmanship.

  • LOL if they were so good why did they quit making them??????????????

  • Colt python and colt andaconda... I can't pick which one I like more.

  • Very nice gun.... I just got a mod 19 S & W 357 and I put Crimson laser grips on it and its now my favorite handgun and I normally carry a Kimber tac custom II 45.. I love my 357

  • I agree 100% with you. The Colt Python 357 Magnum revolver (wheel Gun, Not a round Gun)

is the finest Revolver in the world.

I have been trying to get a Blued model like the one you have for over 10 years. They are very hard to find since they don't make them anymore. $1,000 bucks easily,

However I do collect old Smith and Wesson revolvers. Like Colts the older the better since they don't make them like they used to.

However i never purchase 44magnums. Just way to expensive to shoot.

  • I like how, as you say, Colt inculded the vent ribbed barrel because it LOOKED GOOD.

    Gorgeous. That is all.

  • "Round gun"?! Never heard of it. Try "wheel gun."

  • Great video

  • are these easy to find and purchase?

  • really nice gun i want to buy a python some day

  • you repeat way to much

  • I really want one of these. I would definitely want to shoot it though, not just look at it.

  • @joe50189 Lugers are pieces of crap, colt is way above luger

  • @balla740 A Luger is a semi auto......I think you mean Ruger buddy.

  • @BriBlade But yes, Lugers are pieces of crap.

  • Really nice gun - but I would have to use it!

  • Nice gun but there is cheaper guns out there in 357.

  • I'M LOST! SO WHY HAVE THE GUN? JUST FOR HISTORICAL PURPOSES? DUDE, THIS REVOLVER IS NOT THAT ICONIC....YOU MAKE IT SOUND LIKE A LUGER. NOW THAT IS A PISTOL YOU DON'T FIRE GIVEN IT'S REAL HISTORY, NOT THE LAUGHABLE HISTORY OF THE COLT YOU HAVE AND SHOW HERE.

  • @joe50189 / you mite consider getting a little bit past a third grade educaition beffor making coments like that.! / sam colt made all men equalle/// the germans only pissed every one off..

  • Really gorgeous gun, and I have no problem admitting that I'm not a revolver guy.

  • i know this is so of topic but what was the name of the song you played after the intro by the way sweet gun

  • @TheMaestroCard N.E.R.D - Hot and Fun

  • My brother had one in 6" and it was nice to shoot and admire. For rugged, reliable, smooth and with excellent grips.... get a 4 or 6 barrel GP100 and get a tritium XSSights self install front replacement. For about $500-520, you have a gun that will outlast a Python and that you are not worried about marking or losing your 'investment' cosmetics. An SP101 is smaller and is also very nice and smooth DA or SA, as the GP100 is....stock!

  • haha wow your channel has really blown up.. good job

  • @RoberTastic Not quite there yet, sir but thank you.

  • Beautiful!

  • @WolfClan76 Thank you, sir.

  • Good gun,i have one and i love it,but i prefer the 44magnum

  • @l2ap70r .44 Magnum, is business.

  • Pussy gun, go get a Glock. Sigh I cant even say that with a straight face. That is a fucking fantastic weapon, hold onto that thing until you die.

  • Appearently youve never seen a Ruger GP100. And your a colt fanboy.

  • @FiiNaLvReFLeX I owned a few. That along with several smiths. They were good shooters, but lacked the lines and finish to look pristine. The GP 100 Royal Phoenix did look good in my opinion, just hard to find.

  • I agree!!!!!

BEST wheel gun ever made to date.

Keep it clean and looking good!

  • You forgot to mention the longer barrel allows more powder burn to be used for propulsion. The 357 magnum gains 100fps per inch of barrel.

Needless to say I am jealous of your Python!

  • Blahblobify. I really liked pythons. So I bought one. Anytime you want to examine the damage done from the Fed, 125gr JHP's, you're welcome to. Bring your python and we'll empty the remaining 125 gr rounds through your Colt. Until then, I'll find someone who can make & post a video of the damage done to my Python.

  • I'm so S&W-oriented; I always forget about Colt revolvers... They're pretty nice.

  • Its beautiful.

  • python is a good gun but far from the best gun. i take it u all never herd of a dan wesson lol best revolver hands down..

  • I bought an 357 Colt Python 6" in Royal Blue in 1969 New. When fired, it was 38 Special only. At a range, got to talkin to another Colt fan. He was shooting his just purchased Colt gold cup Commander. One look at my Python & he said that's an over glorified 38Special. Asked him why. He said DO NOt fire Federal 125Gr JHP's throu it, or it will be junk. Got home & shot that round through it. B4 the 6th round it was dead, he was right. 3 cylinder notches will now spin & not lock up as a result.Junk

  • @searchin4GOD

Wow that sucks every Python owner I've ever heard of never had a problem shooting .357 loads. Your friend who had a Gold Cup Commander was an interesting person since Colt didn't make that model until 1990, did he drive a DeLorean with a flux capacitor in the back seat?

  • @Blahblobify

It was either a a Gold Cup Commander or Gold cup trophy model. Im sorry for the oversight of not saying exactly when this happened, as it was not last night nor 2 weeks ago. I should have stated it was about the mid to late 90's or there about, because of the confusion in your post. It's funny you mention a DeLorean :) In my Jr year in high school, Id imagine some spoiled yuppy momma's boy actually drove one to school, ugliest car i ever saw, being all stainless. Better than rice!

  • @Blahblobify

Yes 125 gr 357 loads are bad for pythons. They were the cause of the demise of the S&W model 19, 66, Ruger Security 6, and the Colt medium frame wheelguns. These guns were built to withstand the specifics of 158 grain 357 rounds, and not to the 125 grain 357's that became the popular defense round. A 125 gr 357 round burns much hotter and exerts higher pressures than the 158 grain rounds that were standard when the guns were designed.

  • @Blahblobify

Given the same powder, a heavier bullet will burn more before the bullet leaves the case because it requires more pressure to move the heavier bullet than the lighter one. This is graphically illustrated when the velocities of full-power .357 Magnum ammo is compared in short barrels. Most ammo makers list their 125gr magnums at 1450fps from a 4" barrel and their 158's at 1235fps from the same barrel length. Had you a flux capacitor you would know this, it's in reloading manuals.

  • @searchin4GOD

Searching, I've been reloading for 40 years, I've owned 4 different .357's, and the 125 grain bullet was what I used most of the time. Two of my .357's were the smaller K-frame Smiths, never had a problem after several thousand rounds.

The Python had a reputation for getting out of time with lots of use, but I've only heard about it happening, never seen it. The two people who I knew to own a Python over the years shot theirs a fuckload and never had a problem.

  • @Blahblobify I'd buy it!

  • Unfortunately the Colt beautifuly finished as it is is prone to go out of timing far more frequently than the more dependable S&W revolvers. Ruger revolvers also are very dependable guns and the strongest of the lot. The Colt products just could not compete, they are fine collectables, and certainly were beautifully made so far as fit and finish, just not as dependable as the S&W or Ruger guns.

  • @olhippie1

    I agree, A python just ain't as durable as an S&W N-frame (model 28)highway patrolman 357.

  • beautiful wheelgun...congrats.....thanks for posting

  • @scanpacker Thank you, sir.

  • love it!!!!

  • Ahhhh yes the Colt Python. Absolutely gorgeous but...... Python's are known for having very weak mainsprings. causing them to misfire. It might look sexy and is definitely beautifully finished but there is an argument as to their dependability. I would much rather have an older S&W Model 19. As for being dependable S&W 19's and Ruger Security Six's blow the Python out of the water. Best Revolver on earth? Gorgeous craftsmanship but for service dependability they suck. Yes I owned one.

  • Wow your Python is a real beauty!! I personally own a 1965 Python 6" in Royal Blue. I shoot mine of course so it isn't as well preserved as yours, but still one of the greatest sidearms ever made.

  • @thewonderfrog Thank you, sir.

  • NO...I am not a wannabe, but an older man who was a police officer for many years in a large midwest city with high crime. I was in 6 shootings, one of which I was carrying a colt python..numerous shots exchanged and it carboned up and the cylinder would not rotate. I am no gun expert, but I have been there, and colt phythons are crap. I would never trust my life on one of these...wayyyy over rated hunks of junk.

  • @hammershark18 What kind of shit ammo were you using? How many hundred rounds did you fire in the shoot out? I've been a gun smith over forty years and Never seen a Python carbon up and seize unless badly neglected. I own a 2", 4", 6", 8" and a very rare 10" Python. They are hand fitted and finished and not the knock around piece of crap like the cop friendly model 10 Smith. Glock is over rated, The Python is the finest revolver ever built. Period.

  • @hammershark18 That sounds scary! well at least you are here telling us your story, right on, cheers!

  • What does a gun like this cost?

  • @enchilada01 In today's market,, they sell for around $1200 and up used. The better the condition the higher the price.

  • @GunBroker100 thanx bro for the info. I want one!

  • Beautiful gun, awesome review. I applaud you sir

  • I actually have a gun that shouldn't be fired at all, a 1917 Colt .45 U.S. service revolver...

  • @MrKalashnik0va Why not? I own several 1917 Colt and Smith & Wesson service revolvers in .45 ACP. And I shoot them quite a bit. They were designed to shoot the .45 ACP with "half moon" clips and were issued to fighter pilots, bomber crews, tank crews and some officers carried them instead of the 1911. Half moon clips are about a buck at any gun show, unless it's really messed up, you should be able to shoot it without issue. They are very strong revolvers.

  • @GunBroker100 true true.... but i just consider it a collectors piece just cause i haven't bought any 45AP in a long time so... ya i just leave it sitting around and since my family had it forever!!!

  • @MrKalashnik0va Okay, if this is a family heirloom, then that is a perfectly good reason to shoot it lightly or not at all. I have many guns I inherited myself and they tend to be the last to go out in the field. But, they are a lot of fun to shoot. They are accurate and very low recoil due to the weight of these guns. I have one that was issued to my grandfather and I don't shoot that particular one either.

  • @GunBroker100 enough said

  • Gorgeous gun for sure.

  • The barrel is measured from the muzzle to just ahead of the cylinder where the barrel stops.

  • I bought a stainless colt python a few years back, brand new in the box..It sat in my safe for a couple years and I thought to myself...for what? If I want to invest in things I can only look at, I'll buy paintings..Shoot that bad boy... life is way too short.

  • What a beautiful looking gun, I wish I could own one, but unfortunately,in the U.K you

cannot, unless you are a criminal or belong to a gang.

  • Very good video, very informative! Thumbs up!

  • @chikitabowow Thank you, sir.

  • Thanks for the video , Im in the process of becoming a commisssioned officer and hopefully after some college a peace officer

  • I still like the old 1911 colt 45

  • @hopkinsclint i have alo heard 1911 45 can handle 50,000 rounds before repair

  • I'm not into revolvers but that is a sweet pistol!! Thanks for the video!!

  • @MrKZizzle Thank you, sir.

  • @MrKZizzle It isn't a pistol, it is a revolver, a Colt .45 1911 is a pistol. Yeah I know I am being perniciousness but best to correct

  • @1951ianstaley Thanks for clarifying... lol

  • Smith & Wesson 500 Magnum is my response

  • @ItEaChUsTuNtS Certainly one of the most powerful. No doubt about it.

  • wow!!! she,s such a beauty!!!! i want one. badlywew!!

  • @stratcat70 Thank you, sir. It was love at first sight.

  • my to boys were privy to shoot a python 357 brushed stainless 4 in barrel thanks to my friend warren

  • @rjanderson61 Once you shoot it, you're addicted. A trigger second to none.

  • i thought the korth was the best revolver in the world. but, colts are quite good.

  • @roaringwaterbay Korth's sure do like nice, but the lines are not as elegant as the colts. Also, I haven't been able to get my hands on too many Korth's but the top end Colt Blueing job is a tough one to beat.

  • @humbleshogun Korths seem to follow S&W lines. I agree with you, however, that Colt lines are more artful.

  • A gun good enogh to stick on a shelf and wait for the zombies

  • @FullAutoBeast It will go bang every time.

  • J.R Hughing from the show dallas he packed a gun like that

  • @havingtolistentodumb The same gun is available in a 4'' barrel which looks quite good too. That would be a nice carry piece.

  • i got 2 and i shoot them all the time i even hunt deer and hog with them

  • @havingtolistentodumb Curious, how does a .357 stand up to a hog? I presume you use a hotter load.

  • @humbleshogun i dont know the load my grandpa loaded back in the 80s i have 4 or 5 boxes of 357 from back in the day of course more ammo than i want to shoot threw them,on a hog i havnt killed a very big one but 1 or 2 shots will drop a med.size hog depending on how trigger happy you are :)

  • @humbleshogun 357s are fine for hogs. That's why I got the Glock20. It's in the 357 power range but a 16 round semi-auto. Even the .357 Desert Eagle can't match that. As for what type of ammo, I prefer 200gr Wide Flat Nose Gas Check Hardcast

750 ft/lbs at the muzzle with a 4.6 inch barrel not sure what it is with the 6 inch barrel. As for 357 I would try either a 180 or 200gr. Wide Flat Nose Gas Check Hardcast bullet.

You need serious penetration power for the big ones. 357 can do it.

  • Way, way cool!

  • @ragtop91 Thank you, sir.

  • I would have to fire it just like I'd have to jump my Victoria's Secret model wife.

    That's what they're there for. :-)

Then I would thank God for blessing me with both and give them loving care.

  • Comment removed

  • @CmonMan101 Can't complain. I can always shoot it later, but I can't quite unshoot it.

  • @humbleshogun I understand. Not saying anyone else should do what I would do. The view I have is that I'm only on this earth a short while and fine things make it more enjoyable. I might feel like Tantalus if I have it and not use it. I wouldn't abuse it or use it as an every day carry - but I gotta shoot it sometimes - it's a luxury and a treat I can let my friends experience too. Then I go back to the everyday workhorse - my Glock20.

    Nice Python, thanks for sharing.

    I

  • Shoot the python thats what its made for. I have the same gun in SS the best shooter of all my weapons.

  • @Z357Mag Getting there sir. One day.

  • I like a python,and have owned several.For the money I think a smith 686 is as good.

  • @thawkmoonhawk I owned a 586, definitely a best value for your money gun. Smooth too.

  • this gun are the best grandson of colonel colt!

    greatings from germany!

  • @Kay0815chopper Greetings. Agreed. Still shooting strong and command a strong price in the U.S.

  • Owning this pistol and not shooting it is like being married to a victoria secret model and never having sex with her.

  • All Pythons are Colts, my friend, but not all Colts are Pythons! Since you're not going to shoot it, you might not bother; however, the pawls/hands on Pythons are quite tiny and this causes them to wear and go out of time frequently. Some people take the pawls out and have them hard chromed, which makes the surface wear almost forever. If you really want to make them wear, hard chrome both the pawl and the ratchet. Both parts will be well hidden, so no worry about the looks!

  • @MuzzleBlast357 Interesting, I may be up for that. Any additional information you can provide on the specifics.

  • I thought porn wasn't aloud to be on youtube!;)

  • @AkimboNinjaPWN Gun Porn is always welcome. :-)

  • If you want the Python Experience, but at a"reduced" price, find a Colt Trooper MK III. It has the same feel as the Python, but a bit less expensive.

  • @83rrsou 100% agreed. I shot a Colt Trooper .357 for a little while. Nice solid gun.

  • that is a beut

  • @NewsInYourFace Thank you,sir.

  • 1.) Korth Magnum .357Magnum, 2.) Manurhin MR73 .357 Magnum, 3.) S&W M19 .357 Magnum 4.) S&W M29 .44 Magnum, 5.) COLT Python .357 Magnum

  • Awesome gun! I wud go with the S&W .500 Magnum! That's my opinion but it's what you like. I like kick and stopping power. Nice revolver though! I'd take it in a heartbeat. Don't worry I won't take it.

  • best revolver? not a chance, decent safe queen true, I have 500,000 + rounds through my Ruger Blackhawk in .357 mag purchased in 1974, it has never malfunctioned, the springs have been replaced, and the forcing cone is badly worn, but it;ll still hit a pop can at 200 meters. it has taken at least 2 dozen mule deer, and one elk. and more jack rabbits than I can count. when you get it up to 250,000 rounds, let us know how well it still works. the best revolver is the one you can shoot accurately.

  • @cheops1292 UH, comparing a Ruger Blackhawk to a Colt Python shows your firearms knowledge. As for lasting, the Colt will outlast the Ruger, outshoot the Ruger and is worth ten times more. He could sell his Python and buy TEN blackhawks but they wouldn't last as long as one PYTHON or Smith and wesson for that matter.

  • @ArkyVarminter I own more than 200 firearms, from a 1766 Charleville to an m16A4

I had a python, it was junk, pretty junk, like a Smith TOO slim and fragile, my blackhawk, though modified by hard chrome internals and wolf springs is smoother and more accurate than any python, value is relative, what someone would pay for it, I would not trade 10 blackhawks for a python as for ruger, my m77 puts my sako finbear deluxe to shame and my red label makes my browning superposed a joke.

  • @cheops1292 While the M77 is a respectable rifle the action lacks the strength of a Remington 700 or the Ten lug design of a Mark V. The Ruger is also regarded as ugly and a copy of the old Mauser designs. When a custom rifle is desired, one only looks to one design, the Remington 700. :)

  • @ArkyVarminter while the remington is an average action, it has too many weaknesses to count. the mauser design is the standard by which bolt rifles are measured Ruger took the mauser and improved it, the side extraction bar gives superior extraction, and the locking system gives superior accuracy, the FINEST varment rifle on earth, is one in my collection, a PO Ackley personally made barrel and fit to a mauser action in 22-250 ack imp. I have yet to see a 700 shoot tighter groups

  • @cheops1292 The Mauser action has the large recess which incorporates the big mauser extractor which in turn, weakens the action. What is the most customized action out there? Which one do varmint hunters turn to when they want accuracy? The Remington 700. It locks up like a vault and is the strongest. Google it if you don't believe me. The old Mauser extractor is a dated design and there are numerous gun makers who make superior actions. I had a M77 and had to send it back so I sold it.

  • Pythons are not very reliable; they're notorious for cylinder wear and other parts breaking down. Best revolver on earth my ass.

  • I purchased my Python when I left the service in 1973. It has about 3500 rounds through it. Many of those were hot reloads. It is absolutely as tight as it was when it was new.

  • 6:50 if yer gonna have any empty cylinders for safety, even with the transfer bar, might as well have the chamber under the firing pin/hammer empty too.

  • 1:10 ASSUME it is loaded? ass-umption is the mother of all phukkups. every gun is always loaded. no exceptions. empty guns are the leading cause of gun 'accidents'. 'treating' or 'assuming' implies exceptions when confidence contrary to the rule may override common sense. "i was just pointing it and it went off. i didnt mean to shoot him. i thought it was empty." shoulda known it was loaded.

  • "Why would you buy a gun and not shoot it? Because it's a colt." Fuck that shit, I'm gonna shoot it til my trigger finger falls off.

  • Whatever the faults it looks freaking excellent, enjoy

  • The reason for the Python's tendency to go out of time from a steady diet of heavy .357 loads is because the gun is based on the Colt .41 DA frame. The internal parts were designed over 100yrs ago. By using modern steels and and heat treating, Colt was able to beef the gun up enough to handle .357 Magnums, but the .357 mag loads of 1956 weren't as heavy as what's available today, and continued use wil knock a Python out of time. You could load up some light .357s and enjoy shooting it.

  • The 44 mag. Colt Anaconda looked much better.

  • Colt really needs to bring these back. Beautiful. Truly the Cadillac of Revolvers.

  • Any 357 mag is more powerful than some 9mm,40cal or 45acp Glock. That is a fact.

  • With all due respect, my Glock 23 would crap all over the Python in plain knock down power, accuracy and reliability. The Python is one damned sexy gun, though.

  • @toadpoker The Python was the most accurate production target revolver made in the United States. Saying that the .357 Magnum is lacking in knockdown power shows your lack of intelligence with regards to ammunition and the .357's track record since 1935. I higher one stop shot percentage than .40 Short & Weak in fact. Make my G-lock a G20 :D

  • Very nice

  • I picked 2 Pythons up in South Carolina in 2006, both 4 inch barrels, 1 nickel and the other chrome for $900.00 in real nice shape, went back later and picked up 2 Diamondbacks, 22 and 38 for another $800.00 from the same collector.

  • c'est que tu n'as jamais tiré un MR73...

  • When my children get out of college, I want A Python in Stainless. Ever heard of a Korth revolver from Germany? They are beautiful guns also.

  • Beautiful gun :)

  • @TheCrewchief01 Thank you, sir.

  • @humbleshogun Pythons are beautiful. The next step up from the python is the german made revolver made by Korth. Even better but a lot more expensive. Nice video. Thanks

  • what a sexy gun

  • @redhotchilininja Thank you, sir.

  • Colt Single Action Army. (A classic piece of history, my personal fave)

Still, colt makes good revolvers all around.

  • chuck norris wants his cap gun back

  • round gun? wheel gun

  • The Python is a sought out collectible, dads got a nickle plated Python, the rarest is the Royal Blue, the finish can not be redone, gotta care for it. All Pythons are 357 Magnum, there was a special version that was similar that was a 38 Special. Colt reconditioned dads in 2000 when he mailed it in before you had to go through an FFL to ship.

  • ...I bought the complete matched set (Colt Diamondback .38 spl, Colt Diamondback .22, and the Colt Python .357 all in 6" blue) in the late '70's. All excellent shooting. Don't know if they are the best but they are as smooth as a prom queens thigh when it comes to firing them, none better.

  • That is a nice looking gun though.

  • Sorry but fail,if it was the best it would still be in production. The GP100 is the best.

  • @woody22660 the GP100 is the best overall 357 production gun, its so tough that it can deal out a decent pistol whipping with confidence and full knowledge that it will continue to operate as intended, so yes its tougher / more durable , but its nowhere near as smooth in double action mode as a stock python.

  • What a beautiful piece! It must be a real pleasure to own it. Nice review, too.

    Best regards, Rob

  • A S&W model 25 could outshoot that

  • Nice review on the Python, I wholeheartedly agree, man they just don't make them like that anymore. From the deep blue high polish finishes to the smooth as butter actions Colt reigns supreme. We used to see some on the used gun counter in the shop I work at, not so much anymore. I especially liked your safety cautions at the start of the review, Kudos!!

  • I agree with everything you say. However, I'd like to see someone compare a Python to a Smith and Wesson .357 M&P R8.

  • S&W 500 nuff said..

  • @cooltuber13 Perhaps the biggest production, but not the best.

  • @cooltuber13 Not practical

  • @cooltuber13 $12 to load.

  • @cooltuber13 The S&W 500 generates over 3000 ft/lbs of muzzle velocity (with a 350 gr bullet) That puts it into a category called "hand artillary" I sold mine because I thought it would break my wrist, and it was so friggin' heavy. The recoil was staggering. After every shot, the barrel would be pointing at the sky, no matter how strong the shooter is. That would force you to re-aquire the target after each shot. No thank you. The Python wins hands down.

  • @0Heavy0Metal0 Damn right!
