@Warbearer567 To be frank, i'm not sure this is a good idea. I mean mixings two companies like this that are quite different won't automatically make something marvellous out of it, this isn't like a simple addition of 1+1. They have different ideas, different objectives, different wishes towards games. To my point of view, miracle in fantasy gaming already exist : The witcher, Planescape Torment, Baldur's gate 2, Elders scroll, Icewind Dale, Dragon age: Origins.

@Yemetha That is true. To me what makes the best fantasy game (dark/pure fantasy +16 or +18) is : the real inspiring music that creates a good atmosphere when playing at the right moments, the best story line, an open world setting where you can do what ever you want and great graphics.

@Yemetha From my previos message, another fantasy game that would be a great hit on the fantasy gaming market was Project Offset with its stunning graphics and gameplay, the tech demos surely expresses the game in its prime form, sad it is cancelled by Intel.

i wasn't talking about the witcher series or elder scroll series., but the makers of these games are both excellent producers of the "fantasy world" type game. bethesda shows to be good in the open world with countless little individual things and cd projekt is good in making their fantasy world feel vivid with all the in-game talk about worldly affairs. so it seems that if they should team up and create a new project that it could very well become a good game.

@indierocker1000 I found the game to be really peaceful in some ways. I got spooked at the songs played in the slums of Vizima and the swamp, though. It's like foreboding all the time in those place, I just turned the music off and everything became peaceful again. Maybe it's the constant use of meditation to create potions, calms be down when I play the game.

Witcher is much more emotional, often melancholic and thats why this game is way better than Oblivion for example.

I found that on wikipedia,it was released in 2001 and based on

the same literature.Andrzej Sapkowski.Series subsequently released

was much more coherent than the confusing movie, but was still considered a failure mostly due to the film's already bad reputation and due to vast changes to the source material.

@1Magol It's one of the best RPGs, one of the first to introduce an actual vividly live world - blacksmiths hammering, hens moving about, harlots waving. The storyline and soundtrack have a unique combination and complete the scene. The story isself is a combinationof traditional slavic folklore and cynical realism. However, in the books there are a lot of things westeners wouldn't understand.

A fantastic RPG that i came to appreciate even more after reading the books. An incredible debut from a relatively small company, levels above the homogenic crap spewed by EA and the like. It perfectly bends the Action RPG formula to be in tune with the feel of the novels. I'm a little concerned over the changes in the art style and character faces in the second game, but i believe CD Projekt will deliver.

Yes, but popularity, as you seem to have understood, does not necessarily mean the game is good.

And yes, I also dislike Mass Effect 2.The first game was better, but it isn't even NEAR as captivating as The Witcher.

CD Projekt did a REALLY awesome job at interpreting the world of the books..And the characters, and Geralt himself.

I can't wait for the second game, and I'm sure it will definetly be worth it.

I played it a while, then forgot about it....then I picked it up again recently after downloading Fallout 3. I think I generally like The Witcher better... definitely in terms of the look and feel of the world, and the music is great too!
