  • Resource Based Economy

  • join the zeitgeist movement

  • This would work only if majority started it at once. Whats the point to give everything away if noone is giving back? Egoism is there to protect you. If you use it to much you are bad person. If dont use it at all u are dead.

  • awesome! very nice!

  • too bad we live in a service to self world

  • I think everyone should grow plants, there is magic in watching life grow. :)

    Namaste'

  • Unlimited opportunities for pleasure? Is that an exaggeration?

  • Life and loving others has to unfold in front of you the proof is always in the doing Id say. Bet we could develop a taste for that, maybe the most powerfully good taste people have ever had. Worth thinking about at least. Well, its high time that it hi ho Silver and away time for me too Tonto. Farewell.

  • Maybe those stock brokers could have learned something from this video! I also find that a little goats milk, and some fresh mountain air work wonders for the soul. If people would try it, theyd be a lot nicer to each other, I think, as well as our planet.

  • Dont misunderstand me, I would like this idea of us going to altruism and loving it to be true. And I guess anything somewhat finite multiplied by 7 billion is a lot. I would just want some hard evidence that it wont be 7 billion times zero. My parents trusted stock brokers without enough hard evidence and lost half their savings!

  • try 1 x 1 first...then 1 x 2...you don't START at 7 billion!

  • Good video in any case. It had the stark black and white feel of some of the German classics a lot better style-wise than what you generally see in these kind of shorts. Worth the minute or two of my precious time. Afraid I dont have any more of those precious minutes right now.Bye all.

  • The creators of the video must have some ideas about that themselves Id think.

  • I think that youre reading to much into the video. It just points to a problem (actually a why were alive type problem pretty important, IMHO) and points to a general solution, not how we each, or all get there.

  • It sure sounds better than the message of cooperation that even the best childrens shows like Sesame Street give. Our ecological system is rotting because people cooperate with the corporations ruining the land an polluting the sky and water. It would be good to teach true altruism and save the world, not destroy it!

  • Shades of Mao Tse Tung, re-education! LOL, kids are already in school and this message is hardly ominous. I say that it ought to be taught.

  • Well, for this to work I bet it would take a lot of educational resources, not just the curious passing through while surfing the net.

  • I grant that Communism was a failure, a horrible failure, if thats what you mean. But the video was about personal action, not a political movement or anything like that

  • I just wouldnt want to sit there with that remote all my life. But Id like to see a little more of a testable roadmap to this promise of altruistic ecstasy.

  • I think that universal bonding is a beautiful idea whatever gets us to do it. But its not just about people, its got to be about all of nature. If we dont love nature, it wont love us back. The ecosystem is a very fickle lover.

  • Im still here everybody. :) I think that weve waxed way too philosophical on this, and I tend to have at least some of what I consider the healthy skepticism of truthseeker in all this, though I suggested a rudimentary look at how we might come to seek an altruistic path in life

  • I think that were more spiritually attuned to find brotherhood with our fellow man than with fauna and flora. Its got to proceed outward like that, then to the universe as a whole, and what forces and spiritual unity lie beyond

  • Thanks ft You know, even the pursuit of the altruism the movie talks about is good. Even if its pie in the sky and I dont think it is. But if it is, when we try to find pleasure in all humanity, well expand that to all animals and plants as well. Maybe well finally learn how to become whole with the ecology if we dont quite reach it with each other.

  • nehsama, I really like what you were saying about nature and all.

  • Maybe deep down you feel theres hope for the future.

  • Man, Im no prude, but didnt your Mom ever wash your mouth with soap

  • So its look like nehsama liked it. Well, I dont see it quite as emotionally as all that. But I must admit that I do like the sound of it. And she does seem right that there is a very natural, real sound to such a destiny.

  • Well, I just can almost taste it it will become real, truly sensed, vastly sensed in a perpetual ecstasy that even to just dwell on looking into the future fills one with goose bumps!! My, did I say that? I sure did, and I think Im right, and I think that the video is right TOOOOOOO!!!!!

  • always like your prose Terra, very flowery

  • gw, I for one most certainly think that we can and we will! There is such a primordial interconnection in all nature. Our spirits must intertwine like the roots and branches of all the trees, and the nests of bird there. Like the sky, the wind, and the sea. It is all in its grand nobility its, its

  • Though, can we really so relate that way in any really full sense?

  • No, I think that its more than that. Because if part of the joy of telling over the story, even just a small part, is imagining what it would be like to be inside the listener, hearing it again for the first time, and with a new flavor to that hearing that only that listener would have. Just thinking about that and imagine that multiplied by all who you tell it to, all that they will tell it to, imagining their joy in retelling it over and over down the line.

  • It still seems like selfish pleasures is all that we could ever have, no matter how many people we pretended we were helping.

  • Would it maybe be like, well you know when you hear or create a good story, a fun one, one youd like to share. There is a part that, well you like to feel that you are the great orator or an interesting creative taleteller like Hans Christian Andersen. Still, beyond that dont we, as we tell it over, remember the pleasure we had in hearing it for the first time and thinking about how much fun wed have telling it over.

  • ZziRf, I dont think you get it ts. its not at all what was meant! you have to feel that connection like with trees, the grass, the winds, the water. connection is what we need, and the pleasure will come.

  • Amazing video! We have to be the change we want to see, truly.

  • : Fine, lets just stick with what you said about helping each other and leave it at that. Whatever that help is going to mean in practical terms, I dont see how somebody can get anything out of it accept a warm feeling that theyre good because they helped somebody. How can you compare that with all the direct feel good that you get out of food, drink, sex, and TV or a computer? If people want to feel team spirit, theyve already got football.

  • Like the video said about fulfilling a personal pleasure just cancels it out, and now youre worse off because you need a whole new pleasure just to have something to chase again.

  • image of the circle reminds me of an article I once read about a type of atom made of a normal negative electron and a positive electron called a positron. In this atom, called orthopositronium, the one would chases the other ceaselessly. It seems kind of a purposeless and hopeless thing to do, and the worst thing is if one does catch the other because they annihilate.

  • What our civilization does to these species is a crime really such a crime to our kids!!!

  • Did anybody see something special in that circling. I remember once hiking in a very picturesque section of forest in Western Canada.. I mean, Ive seen many pretty woods, but this one really struck me. There was this clearing, and towards a mountain rise, two eagles were soaring, maybe a mating ritual of some sort.

  • I think that the view of this video, and Ive go to agree with it, is that just accepting that fate rather than hunting for a light at the end of the tunnel, is not true happiness but a sign of dullness to the point of brain death!

  • Albert Camus wrote a large essay on that myth. He imagined that Sisyphus eventually smiled and became happy by realizing the absurdity of the whole business and accepting his fate.

  • Its ike the myth of Sisyphus from Greek mythology, where Sisyphus was punished by being doomed to always roll a heavy boulder up a hill, just to have it roll back down again.

  • Okay, heres some detail for everyone then. Did you notice the animated graphic representing the hopeless chasing of personal pleasure. That circular motion gives such a feeling of meaningless pursuit.

  • I like the focus on the self-interest motivation towards helping others. Hes clearly not talking religion, but yet it does depend upon individuals to voluntarily support a sort of global-family type socialism. I think that he might have even sold Marx on it eventually over a few cold beers :)

  • Theres nicer ways to express things, but if you are really searching for meaning out there, you have to take in the big picture, and savor the details. The producer of this piece clearly has a broad message and tells us things through all the details. Thats the only way to sinc with the picture of what really going on in reality, I think. But, yes, I do agree that beers important.

  • Theres no need to get so nasty man! But you do have a point beers important. LOL.

  • liked this clips

  • There is wise selfishness and foolish selfishness. Foolish selfishness victimizes others, imagining the self as being separate from the rest of the world. While this type of selfishness looks like it will benefit you, it always comes back and bites you. Wise selfishness acknowledges the world as being one, and will result in good results for all.

  • Doesn't stick, not that i know much of it but alot of philosophers state that when you become aware of the fact that you do not just make choices for yourself but on behalf of the human species, you get what is described as angst (see Søren A Kierkegaard, and other eksitentialists, Sartre, etc.)

  • I liked this clips, they are wondeful.

  • "exhausted by this cycle"... interesting..

  • Ok, let's do it.
