If those places are that bad, then does that mean the brothers will be a lot more apt at taking you down than any boss in the game as a way for the designers to protect these 'areas'?
Well, the Elwood Brothers are immortal (until the end of the game) and always kill you in one shot. They only appear if you try to get out of the buildings using the front door or that you fall from the rooftops (they ambush you and there's nothing you can do). They don't appear in the last part (except at the very end) since the way is quite linear. And yes, they're more effective than the boss. They usually kill you before you can notice them (unless they were in plain view).

Although I have played the New Nightmare and beat Carnby's story (I found some interesting glitches along the way in which I posted on my channel, but it isn't in a play list) My main reason for finding this game was to find interesting footage on what those brothers could be hiding. Is there some kind of cheat the makes it to where you can't die?

I personally think that Alone 3 was superior to Alone 2. The fighting parts are more toned down and aren't as "cheap" as in Alone 2 where you could get killed all too easily. The fighting here is challenging, but not overly frustrating.

oh yes it can, look up dosbox ! I've been playing alone in the dark games all weekend on vista, on a wicked fast system, no problems. You dont have to miss it anymore:)

In the third one, not only he's in a worse financial shape (probably not to many cases), but he apparently holds a grudge against Emily since he "almost died in that devilish mansion two years ago, thanks to her."
Oh let me ask you, are there novels to AITD1 and AITD2 ? I'm asking that because I thought there was only a novel to AITD3 (which is also available in portuguese - my mother tongue)

Subject to opinion. This was a marvelous game, to be sure, but 1 carries so much more of the horror element than do 2 or 3, although 3 improved nicely upon 2's lack of atmosphere.
That pretty much says it. I liked 3 better than 2, but still not as good as 1. Yet, what was the deal with the "I'll be back" not that one-eyed jack leaves behind in the 3rd game?
God damn, the intro to this game really makes me think of the old action\mystery movies. I also like how Carnby cuss's in the into too. "Damn that dog of a landlord!"
How much does this game cost? I want to try to get a copy of this and the 2nd game for my birthday, I'm still playing the 1st game over and over, and getting good at it little by little.

I watched all your Alone in the Dark videos over the past couple of days and just wanted to say thanks! Though I didn't get to finish the games back then, except for the crappy port of the second one on the PS1, they've always interested me, being a survival horror fan. I have a lot of respect for the AitD series for starting the genre, and watching these vids shows that the respect was truly justified. Been a lot of fun watching them, and thanks for the work you did in translating everything.
3DO you mean? No. AITD1 and AITD2 were the ones that appeared on 3DO. AITD3 has remained to these days as the only AITD game never ported to any console.
Thanks so much for uploading these. I was never able to beat this game when it came out, and since it's so old, it doesn't run on any computers around here! I LOVED this series and still do. Heck, I named a character Carnby in the story I'm writing for my daughter.
