The curious thing is : if you immediately (or not , only after a few days) like or love this interpretation , it will be , however , in your head and memory for the rest of your life ...
We love Jacqui because she is our (60-year old-selves) as the hippie kid she looked like. It is hard to view a video of herself without sobbing like a child. I find these videos immensely moving. Thank you so much. PJTramdack (Philobiblion)
Finally, it is about time this video was restored to Youtube after the other one was removed. All deserve to hear the beauty of this emotional and tender piece. It is hands down the epoch of a cellist's repertoire. Simply beautiful, well done DuPre.
@antizac Listen to her Bach, or the Dvorak Cello Concerto, or the Saint-Saens Concerto in A minor....there's a box set of 17 CDs of all her EMI recordings on Amazon for only about 17 quid, and it's well worth getting. There's so much wonderful music on them, including this concerto in its entirety. Happy listening!
Oh wow! I heard the Maestro Barenboim had loaned it out and I am glad to hear it.Instruments should be played. She loved the Peresson because of it's ease of play.
@TheHandsomeCrab If it was for classical, i mean everything baroque, rocco, classical, romantic, impressionism. there would be no jazz, pop, rock, alternative, rap. anything. So you sir are dumb.
@MysticAngel4 Maybe you should skin up a big fat bifta and smoke out to some dubstep?
ha, ha ha, I love you mystic angel and I hope u r a girl IRL because girls who stand up to my bullshit with dignity and determination and without bitchiness and really SMEXY (disregard this if you are a boy/tranny etc)
@TheHandsomeCrab Get the hell out of the classical music videos if you have no appreciation for them. "Shitty old music" is the only reason why you have shitty new music now. So shut your mouth.
@TheHandsomeCrab Bro, get a life. No one need to hear your stupid comments about so called "idiots," when people who play and listen to classical music are a hell of a lot smarter than you probably are. And of all pieces to comment like that on, you choose this gorgeous piece being played by one of the most talented cellists ever.
If you are bothered by Jaqueline Du pre's "melodramatic spasms" the sight of Mitsuko Uchida performing might well afford you a kind of perverse pleasure.
I imagine she'd render you insensible to the music altogether.
Because they were married? Yes that is comical isn't it?
Come to think of it, I believe English law forbids husband and wife from participating in the same orchestral performance; there is an obvious conflict of interest.
She's become a part of my life. Her musical passion has been my guidepost and model. And her personality makes me love her all the more. I feel that in some ways, I know her. Beautiful video.
With the greatest respect - do you not feel you could reserve your tenuous promotional gestures for either the beginning or end of this clip? While I can just about deal with your URL flashing up at the beginning, having 'out now on dvd' pop up on screen 42 seconds into this moving clip is just perverse and, above all, disrespectful to those who wish to enjoy seeing the tragic Du Pre performing in her prime without spending money with your company
@paulpieroni Sadly - that is the way of the world - you are not obliged to watch this particular video. If you don't like this FREE video that has been uploaded for your enjoyment, go and pay for the original.
People are always trying to get something for nothing and even when they do they're not content. On your bike!
Absolutly beautiful this perfomance. I'm in love with her way of playing, she was so full of passion and, of course, she was a genious. I love cello besides, and she makes me cry. Wonderful.
Her presence still remains with the legacy she left behind. The tribute to the greatest cellist on the planet. No one will be as good as she was. Not even me. There can only be one Jackie. The video is one of the most heart rendering tribute of Jacqueline DuPre.
