My dad actually grew up in what was then called the Belgian Congo, he told me that it grows naturally on trees out there and they would drink it fresh from the plant as kids, then came the corporations to exploit this delicious crop and the inevitable conflict and war that followed. So remember that, the next time you pierce a carton of Umbongo with a pointy straw, some kid probably died for it you ungrateful little urchin.

They actually do drink um bongo in the congo, a friend sent a holiday snap to fhm years ago on a trip to dr congo. They proably prefer kia ora
