Roustabout was the first album of any kind i received and I was 4 years old, so this soundtrack and movie will always have a special place in my heart
Hard to believe that the studio or was it col. parker didn't want strings on any of the guitars Elvis played on, was it for fear that Elvis would cut his fingers?? Weird, ain't it!
Read George Klein's book, "Elvis was my Best Man" and it will go into depth about this and even mentioned it a few times on both his Sirius/'XM Radio show, when a viewer would write in and ask about Elvis' screen tests, and George would confirm what I had said. The Colonel didnt want Elvis' guitars to have strings on them for screen tests. Only time you see strings for a movie, was actually the "BigBossMan" segment in the "Nothingville Medley" of the 68 Comeback Special. All 31 Movies, no strings!
At 1:40 he changes his voice. Cool as heck. I think he invented this style. These so-called stars these days can't even come close to what Elvis could do.
Another unheralded gem from one of the better '60s Elvis movies. This one and songs like "Big Love, Big Heartache," "Hard Knocks," and "Wheels On My Heels" are lesser known bits of perfection that could easily have been done in a non-soundtrack studio setting had things gone differently for Elvis in the '60s. His movie career then largely squandered his talent, but there was still some great stuff buried inside.

Elvis is too good to be true.
Sometimes it's so hard for me to imagine a great musician like him ever excisted.
