its because of the g-forces, because rolling is like a turning a bucket in a circle (fast!!!) the directional forces push outward. So while the they are doing this the center of gravity is on the outside of the roll ie on the floor of the cabin. works only when rolling or pulling a turn (thus generating positive Gs). when you fly upside down and do nothing it will spill. When you push negative Gs it will spil......it will literally shoot out of the can.

Choketodeath666, I am a pilot in the RAAF my dad is a retired fighter pilot and is now a senior instructor at RAAF Pearce. We have never taken delivery of F-14s. We have flown -and retired- F-4s and Mirage 3s in the recent years but no F-14. You might be referring to the F-111s that 6th SQN have at RAAF Amberley, which are sort of similar to the F-14. All basic pilot training is first done on a Pilatus PC-9, then the BAE-127 Hawk, and finally your new squadrons operational type.
