I am an atheist, but I do not hate religious people. My mother is currently dying of cancer. My father/her husband cheated on her and left her, her insurance is being denied, her friends are limited, and her son is breaking his ass in trying to get into med school so he can't be around her. She has only her personal God to turn to. In her life she was the nicest, did tons of charity work and volunteering, and never tried to push her beliefs on anyone. Who am I to take her beliefs away?

I am an atheist, but I do not hate religious people. My mother is currently dying of cancer. My father/her husband cheated on her and left her, her insurance is being denied, her friends are limited, and her son is breaking his ass in trying to get into med school so he can't be around her. She has only her personal God to turn to. In her life she was the nicest, did tons of charity work and volunteering, and never tried to push her beliefs on anyone. Who am I to take her beliefs away?

So, the all-powerful creator of the universe had to rely on primitive goat herders in order to get his message out? In addition, he had them write a book (that's supposed to be the word of God), but there are all these problems with translation and interpretation and understanding? How come the bible completely contradicts science in saying that the earth was made 6,000 years ago, the earth is a flat disc (we already knew back then it was a sphere anyways) and that the earth is the centre of the universe if the book is a book of truth?
