yes, I went there with friends and my 6 year old daughter, we had a superb time, the pyramid stage was amazing but we also enjoyed the festival and children's festival spirit. By spending my time with different groups of mates into different things I virtually spent the entire time up having fun, and when little one was asleep had a great time in the Dance tent. Can't imagine it in the rain - 1995 was a stunningly hot one and I still treasure the memories.
I was there, this was my first Glastonburry Festival and it was amazing, It wsa sold out at 80,000 but literally thousands of people came over the fences and it was packed the atmosphere was awesome.
The weather was absolutely boiling i remember people selling suncream for 50p a squirt this was the best purchase i ever made, my mate didnt bother and was off work for 2 days with sunstroke. He spent the sunday walking around with a cardboard box on his head swigginga bottle of vodka.
All those saying how 'great' it was to get over the fence and get in free, remember. The festival was almost abandoned many times, because of this problem, by the organiser Michael Eavis who is wholly responsible for the festival existing. Although it has grown and got more expensive the money goes back into the festival and to other charitable causes, it's not profit making. It was never a 'free festival' and the freeloaders who jump the fence are the ones that could close it down for ever.
I was there! We jumped the fence at the stone circle and security turned up and we all legged it. I ran for it down pennard hill and headed for a crowd of people. I remember hearing the growl of the landrover's engine behind me which really got the adrenalin going, as well as shouts of encouragment from passers by. Brilliant! Got away with it too. A mate of mine laid on someones lilo as soon as he jumped and got away with it. We met up and had a celebratory slurp of scrumpy. Good times!
My first Glastonbury...MDamazing......The breach of the security fence was great!!!! Brilliant music all weekend+the late night sound systems that had us all dancing till dawn!!!!! It was the 25th anniversary of the festival.and the first year they introduced the Dance Tent -I think!.My personal highlight- Orbital mainstage.Saturday night... as the sun set on a lovely warm summers night...Magic. If you were there-You know exactly what I Mean..What an atmosphere that year..Very happy days!! x
I remember heading down with the missus in a battered Triumph Dolomite and a box of hash brownies. Cracking weekend - made better by the fact you were cut off from the world for 5 days (no mobile phone/internet nonsense) and randomly bumped into people saying "What was the chance of that then?". Probably the high watermark before the corporate vibe and the cocaine took over. :(
Good lord, this brings back memories. I forgot how terrible Skunk Anansie were, but everything else was glorious and reminded me of the best Glastonbury I've been to so far.
I do remember taking some incredibly bad E, and working hard to not fall over before Pulp and forcing myself to stand up for their entire set before having to have a wee lie down after they finished while thousands of people walked round, and over me.
brilliant to see these vids, although it had to change to stay alive... it reminds me of the good days of going over the fence and the crazy parties...
I was there, I was but 15. It was amazing Woodstockesque. We got stoned with Chrissy from the Pretenders and Evan Dando who later did a unanounced accoustic set near the meeting pole. The height of grunge and everyone had long hair it was awesome. Unfortunately the end of an eera I think :(
yeh i agree with that diggers since they put that massive fence up you dont get that real mix of people going you used to have. Apparantly its got real middle class now and this years tickets havent even sold out yet. I got my ticket though and im looking forward to it.
I went last year - the first time since 2000. I've never seen as many gazebos in my life!!! Its almost a sanitised version now. What a shame. Hope you have fun this year though. May the sun shine!!
thank you SO much xxx

I was there.
Ozric Tentacles opened the mainstage on the saturday.
It's almost unrecognisable now.
Eat Static on saturday night in the new dance tent was a close to a religious experience.
The whole fence round the stone circle was pulled down.
Felt like a proper free festival.
