  • I just don't tell people that I'm trying to lose weight, who I feel are overweight and insecure.. because in the past, they have expressed hostility, i had one friend who was advising me not to go to the gym anymore.. which makes no sense, I only lost like 6 lbs rofl..

(and she and i were gym buddies at this point.. .until she told me that!)

My bf and only one friend at work knows that Im reaching for a different weight.

  • I've had friends in the past who would try to sabotage me if they knew I was trying to lose weight, but for the most part everyone in my life is very supportive and interested in what I'm doing to lose. I just tell them what I do, but I dont tell them "you should do this or that".. my mom has actually lost a little bit in the last few months using advice I gave her :O)

  • Great tips!

  • Great topic, it's something I have to deal with all the time, well meaning people telling me to stop losing weight. I simply tell them this, "I have discused my weightloss goals with my doctor and he's telling me I'm on track, but thank you for your concern." That usually shuts them up. :)

  • Great topic and great advice! :)

  • Ahh great topic! Example: My sister wants to lose weight but says she is too busy, cant budget for healthy stuff etc etc. I TRIED offering advice and she got all mad and she gets on my case/cracks jokes about me losing weight... ohhh family. How lovely.

  • Great advice! Saying "Thank you, that's great information" is so much easier. You don't have to actually mean it!!

  • @LosingOmentum: But thats lying.

    I hate american social culture.

No, its not okay to lie. Its fake.

  • It could be great information, just not information that you will neccesarily follow. I guess I go by the "choose your battles" mentality. Is it really something to fight to the death over? I don't think it's always worth the argument.

  • Great Vlog! R

  • Hi Shanti! Great video! And great choice of topic! I can really relate to what you are saying.

    Lots of love from Italy,

    xxx Elisa

  • Good video. I never had the problem with people giving me advice, they ask me for it instead, which feels kinda odd since I still feel very overweight although I don't have that much too lose anymore.

  • great topic. amazing advice. I'm just starting my journey and i feel scrutinized by many people all the time. But I can handle it with class, and not let it get me down

  • hi great video hihi works on advice from people about my kids too, i just shut up and nod and don't bother arguing/ explaining anymore. It made me tired... <3

  • Great advice! You covered a LOT of ground, great topic this week :)

  • i hate family, i love family, it sucks

  • I like your first thoughts... lol... most people talk about what they don't "know" about... urg .... frustrating.

Good advise! Sometimes saying "NOTHING" says "EVERYTHING"!

  • I think you've found a way to deal very well with people who mean well and want to see you succeed... but who may be just a little too pushy. The funny thing about people who care about us a lot is that they really want to be involved in everything we do - ESPECIALLY if it is something that will change us [for the better].

    Good points, Shanti! :)

  • Great video Shanti. I usually just smile & nod to people who are like do this, or do that....haha <3

    Have a great week!

  • simple anwser to your problems...just eat in portions and go workout when you get the chance...please dont put extra stress on your body..because you will gain weight just by the stress..happy enjoy thanksgiving********
