Well compared I the x mini 2 I think it has better bass and movement front the speaker also the quality of the sound is great as with and JBL product and I have tested the x mini 2 and most of the features are the same including the chain making as if you have more than one JBL speaker they can be linked up to each other also the battery is great about 8 hours playback.

Yes there is a 3.5mm headphone jack on the charger. This is so when you are charging the speaker you can connect it to your pc and use it for that too. But I have to say this really is great and has good quality sound that Is hard to find these days.

And I agree it is sad the inbuilt cable is that short because any extention will take away a bit of the good sound.
