I'm just saying that I wouldn't put it past our ruling class to enter into the territory of something like an Amero. My question is: at this point, whats stopping us from moving to a global currency? After all; the only thing that gives the dollar its power is its acceptance and the reassurance that our economy is secure. Now since the Chinese has been pickning up the tab for our way of life for some time now; what happens when they say no more unless you move to a more universal standard?

but you must admit a world currency makes plenty of sense, and yes Obama is fully against it... but in 100, 200 years it will happen. None of us are old enough to remember, but the united states had multiple currencies... but today, you can go from state to state and use the same money! wow!!!

i travel a lot so a world currency would be great, but it will take a lot of education of the poor to help them understand the advantages.

But whenever a global currency is introduced there will need to be a governing body presiding over it. Initially it will be strictly economic but over time potlitcal and social absorbtion will happen then there will be no identity for countries. Again not neccessarily a bad thing from a worldly point of view. Honestly the only arigument against a world government is that sacrifices will have to be made in order to achieve... order. My stance is that world gov't is only bad for religion.

Additionally; if you really consider the natural progression of human interaction, a globally accepted rationing device is inevitable! So, I cant say that the N. American Union will implement Ameros precisely between USA, Mexico and Canada but you know as well as I know that one day we will ALL use the same currency, be it digital or physical. My other question is: who is to say that thay unavoidable occurence won't start during our lifetimes, be it Geithner, Bernanke or some other instrument?
