On the other hand, Tarja's music has great production, arrangements and show, but clearly it's focused in letting Tarja's singing shine. We all know the Tarja's presence onstage is wonderful and even her musicians are great, they're only her playback band.

Talking musically Nightwish and Tarja both lost equally, but commercially Nightwish lost more. Nightwish music is more balanced and inspired, almost all instruments shine, including the voice as another instrument. So in terms of musical quality I think Nightwish's music is superior.

@DeadSleepingSun She is operatically trained. Aspiring vocalists are taught to feel the music and fit the role so this also might be something due to her "Funny" dancing. Has anyone heard a singers performance and see she's just completely emotionless? It really ruins the moment.

No, perhaps they shouldn't. I was at one of their last concerts back like 2 years ago and Tarja was singing awfully bad. Really bad, getting every 3rd tone wrong. It may be bad day's shape but something like that is never quite unconnected to relationships and attitude.

Here she sounds fantastic, but fwiw it might be a lipsync.
