People are so retarded, ''CHINA IS RISING ZOMG THEY WILL FIGHT THE WORLD ALLIED WITH RUSSIA AND CRUSH THE WESTERN WORLD DERRR'' ok retards, war is over-rated, its all about money, and the main reasons why China and the USA aren't at war is because they have, ''BIG economic ties''. Russia cant fund a global war at the moment fyi, thats why they are picking on smaller countries like, ''Georgia and Chechnya'' to show others that they still have some power. Russia and Eruope are best friends btw.
china has all kind of evil things, so many death camp, secret police, etc etc,,,,,,,china is most hell place in the world, ccp killed historical amount of people
I visited in Beijing in 2009. The Chinese are some of my favourite foreign nationals to interact with, I have Chinese exchange students visit me every Winter here in Canada and I hope to continue this practice for the rest of my life.
My favourite part of Beijing was Hutong District or Beihai Park.
@uvgarde The US kills 200,000 and no one complains Was it when we freed couple hundred million Europeans from Nazis in World War II or was it when we freed 50 million Iraqis from Saddam or was it when we freed 35 million South Koreans from North Korea or was it when we killed the Japanese who were murdering millions of Chinese. People don't complain about the US because we are often saving their life.
@withdream No, I spent time in China and I learned some things: 1. human rights is major issue in a communist country where disrespect for freedom is common(hence my Tiananmen Square remark) 2. China must respect property rights 3. It's a vast country with awesome potential. PS I would add it needs a national language. Beijing mandarin(Putonghua) got us by but it's clear it's a foreign language to a lot of Chinese.
@garybsg Mandarin IS the "national language" as you say. It was made specifically to be a nationwide language. However, you have a country here with over 3000 years of recorded history, 8 different dialects most of it probably thousands of years old. October 1955 was when Putonghua was defined as the commonly spoken language of the "Han" group. Studies show that 90% of all chinese see themselves as Han. So there you have it :) (fyi. Han dynasty followed Qin dynasty, the first to unite china)
@w0ll3sup3r Yes, I understand and I agree but it was very clear on my trip that Mandarin is a second language to many, many Chinese which makes sense. It is a vast country with many ethnic groups(especially Han) however even people who spoke Mandarin natively sometimes could not understand each other which surprised me. I loved China and will go back again.
@garybsg What you say about Putonghua is not true. Most Chinese understand and can speak it even if it is not their everyday language. Property rights is a double-bladed sword. It promotes innovation but also can lead to monopoly. Also comments like yours can get annoying sometimes. You don't tell a kid's parents someday the kid will die every time you meet them don't you? Apparently you are telling the truth since everybody dies eventually. Isn't this video about traveling?
@withdream Yes I have been to China and loved the country. But it has to fix some of it's problems like free democracy and property rights. America has strong property rights and there are no monopolies here. That's all I'm saying.
@garybsg I am glad you like China. I don't mean to argue but America do have monopoly. Also when a New Yorker goes to the Deep South, I doubt he will understand the conversations. Language is alive and changing across time and regions. It is nothing surprising.
@withdream You are right a deep southern accent is harder to understand but it is understandable. I'm just saying I was surprised in China that a lot of people din't seen to speak Mandarin as a native language. At one point I had a shopkeeper and taxi driver both whose "native" language is Mandarin and they were barely able to speak to each other. Very strange.
@Doraemonchina The US has had it problems no doubt, but no country on earth has more of a commitment to individual freedom. They look in the mirror constantly and change. Its why the US is the best country in the world and why I moved to the US.
@garybsg: then enjoy your fucking life in the US., how ridiculous u r when u flatter your fucking new place and lecture at us like u love us too much!? If u love your fucking USA then enjoy living over there, stop stiking your noise to China, whatever China do is always wrong in your fucking eyes becuz you have bias view toward us already, the US never be a good one at your fucking advertising, its has itself many problems but it keep criticize China so people don't pay attention to it bad ones

People should read the article written by François Hauter in the Le Figaro/Paris - China is actually on it's way to a collapse. They certainly will not become a superpower in our life time & with the real threat of a revolution this gov't stands to face a civil war shortly. Mao's influence & his minions are still in power TODAY. Mao's portrait still stands prominently everywhere smiling almost laughing at the average Chinese.
So 'm confident to tell the wannabee overlords: suck my dick.

You can not become a world power by lacking innovation. If you want to be a subcontracting nation then that's your choice but to be a subcontractor you need to ensure your population is cheap and exploitable. That's the only thing China can bring to the table. Your niche is cheap labour...what has China created since the Mao's cultural revolution? Anybody? Anybody? Bueller? Bueller? That's right - not a thing! Innovation does not come out of an oppressed society.
Japan didn't collapse...you're just an anti-democratic anti-human rights communist slave to believe that. No bloody wonder the Japanese become incensed for being mistaken for chinese.

We are innovators and free-thinkers. Much of the medical advances and technological advances you enjoy today are Canadian. Even the American aerospace technology is Canadian born....NASA's scientists for example are largely made up of Canadians. You seem pretty ignorant to not know this. We Canadians are more or less a British colony much like Hong Kong was...and we all know how successful Hong Kong is in contrast the rest of China. The rest of China is the product of oppression...u do the math.
China has been a poor country for many centuries, and what it is experiencing now is similar to the industrial revolution in Europe. Why don't Western countries manufacture in their own countries? Continuing to exploit a poor country like China, is not free thinking and innovating.
I COMPLETELY agree with you on ALL points. On one hand the liberals support free-trade because they believe it will solve poverty in those nations, and the conservatives believe it will bring more money to the rich. I think both liberals & conservatives are tainted with greed since they refuse to push for democracy and rights in that ready-made slave population. If democracy and freedom was worth anything they'd send the jobs over to Mexico or India but those nations are democratic.
When you have democracy what you get is human rights and hence Unions & Strikes and a populace uprising. China provides assurances to these multi-million dollar corporations that rights and dignity will never see the light of day and for every dollar you spend on Chinese-made goods, you also seal the fate of these people. India took another approach via democracy & they were punished for it by the elite.
You are so wrong, you know nothing about China, China has been a poor country for many centuries??in last 20 centuries, there are 18 centuries China was No.1 GDP in the world, China always be a strong country, the near 2 centuries was China's weakest prieod in 5000 years history, we Chinese's IQ is 108.
I am from China. My parents lived in deep poverty, and there are indeed lots of wealth but its not even. GDP may be high, but per capita GDP is very low. Last 2 hundred years was poor, but in the past it was strong, I agree. Please don't disrespect me by saying "I know nothing about China". I am a proud Chinese too and hope it'll live strong forever.
I've been there in 1994. It so different now, it's amazing how China has changed just in the last decade. Back then it took us 3 days to buy train tickets, and that was after we found a connection guy who bought the tickets for us :)
It's difficult to tell from this vantage point whether they will consume the captive earth men or merely enslave them. One thing is for certain, there is no stopping them; the Asians will soon be here. And I, for one, welcome our new Economic overlords. I'd like to remind them that as a trusted TV personality, I can be helpful in rounding up others to toil in their underground sugar caves.
i too... wish to assist our overlords in the capture and eventual death of those insane enough to oppose the way. Id like to remind fellow marxist that the current capitalist pig bag limit is 7 but during the season the number is raised to 13. Children do not count.
I thought it was disgusting having commie Chinese soldiers raising the Olympic Flag. I mean WTF. Since when did the Olympics have SOLDIERS involved? Whats next? Some machine gun fire to start the games?
What's with the hostility from westerner towards China? It's kinda a samilar attitude towards Russia during the cold war (maybe not AS intense)
China is still a communist country and there are A LOT OF things that needs improvment (democracy, enviormental protection etc) but you got to realize it's just imperfect like other developing countries (brazil india etc) You don't see the same hostility towards those countries right? U gotta realize the mentaility is feed to us by the media and gov't.
Of coz, the Chinese needs to stop with the 'oh fuck ya'll whities for hating on us, you guys are just bitter coz we are getting big and strong.' I mean both sides need to just chill out and realize we need each other and we can get along...

Nope, it's place is cemented as a 3rd world sub-trading/slave market. It can not sell anything it makes to it's own people owning to the fact that most of China's billion people are living in poverty. It's reliance is to sell to the free world and aside from that, almost everything china builds are patents that western countries own. You don't own the shit you build...your job is to build it cheaply. How can you escape that niche? You can't.
We'll see...but, unfortunately most things that are worthwhile have already been invented and the real work is now beginning on the nano and micro-biological level....China hasn't even started on it's infastructure to even utilize the tools neccessary to help them along. The Chinese send their best to MIT for example...they in turn return home to find that their expertise has no place to go and many then make application to remain in the west but face 8 year waiting periods on average.
The thing is that China has many among the most able students in the world; therefore, it wouldn't be a surprise if China becomes the world's superpower in science and technology once its economy can fund all of the projects it desires.
And that is the trick...how to transition itself from a 3rd world country with 3rd world infastructure to a full blown super-economy that satisfies it's own people let alone the world but many economists believe that the communists in power today would have to relinquish control of it's people in order to realize that potential. One economist believes that communist china is oppressing it's people in order to appease the west - to keep trade on the cheap.
Within 30 years, 30% of the population was lifted out of poverty, which is the fastest in any country. Yes China still has many people in poverty, since most of the population stills lives in the rural areas. China doesn't own the patents, but many Western tech such as Intel rely heavily on overseas Chinese/Taiwanese/Hong Kongnese for development. Some of the most educated people around. Walk into any high tech dev, Chinese people are everywhere.
Plz clam down since it is unprovoked(If you don't agree on my words go and see Yahoo news posted by your own media! and read the full version of news!)
wait, so you want me to watch commie soldiers raising a flag and people reciting their anthem like drones before speaking to some locals about how their house got pulled down to build yet another bar before going to eat a beetle on a stick while breathing in that thick, dirty air? Ok.
15 million people live in beijing and they dont have a problem with the "thick, dirty air" yet u fucking pussies complain about it every 2 seconds, why dont u all just go fuck ur cousins, China is really better off without u fucking hicks visiting

somebody tell me what's the fking problem wit' the dude Rata4You. I disagree on almost every point you made. I'm a Chinese and I can assure you that Mao is no fucking idol of me and all my friends. some might say it is a shitty place with a shitty communist gov. this is the truth. but this is my hood that all my life is connected to. that's why i have a strong love for it. besides things are getting better and lots of ppl are making efforts on varius subjects like human rights and press freedom.

dude. canadian space program u kidding me? The only thing we canadian had was afro jet- the 1 st jet in the world, which got shut down because the american presure us to stop it.
CHinese people are slaves to commies? Have u been to china dude? The people there love their government. 70% + approval ratings isnt something even a demcratic gov can acheieve easily. The poor ppl still bitch about it. But is far from slaves.
Are u even a canadian or just pretending to be one to bash china?

Innovation does not come out of an oppressed society.

interesting...your claims can actually be applied to the Japan of the 50's and 60's...yeah i can see how Japan has collapsed...i guess China is next
nuriy 3 years ago
Japan didn't collapse...you're just an anti-democratic anti-human rights communist slave to believe that. No bloody wonder the Japanese become incensed for being mistaken for chinese.

do forget how your canada beomes the so-called developed country,by taking european or american technology and information?
china has its own innovation.don't forget the industry revolutions 1&2 in 17or18 centuries.China has never been through that.

Rata4You 3 years ago
China has been a poor country for many centuries, and what it is experiencing now is similar to the industrial revolution in Europe. Why don't Western countries manufacture in their own countries? Continuing to exploit a poor country like China, is not free thinking and innovating.
kasios 2 years ago
I COMPLETELY agree with you on ALL points. On one hand the liberals support free-trade because they believe it will solve poverty in those nations, and the conservatives believe it will bring more money to the rich. I think both liberals & conservatives are tainted with greed since they refuse to push for democracy and rights in that ready-made slave population. If democracy and freedom was worth anything they'd send the jobs over to Mexico or India but those nations are democratic.
Rata4You 2 years ago
When you have democracy what you get is human rights and hence Unions & Strikes and a populace uprising. China provides assurances to these multi-million dollar corporations that rights and dignity will never see the light of day and for every dollar you spend on Chinese-made goods, you also seal the fate of these people. India took another approach via democracy & they were punished for it by the elite.
It is all so damn transparent.
Rata4You 2 years ago
You are so wrong, you know nothing about China, China has been a poor country for many centuries??in last 20 centuries, there are 18 centuries China was No.1 GDP in the world, China always be a strong country, the near 2 centuries was China's weakest prieod in 5000 years history, we Chinese's IQ is 108.
jl83622318 2 years ago 3
I am from China. My parents lived in deep poverty, and there are indeed lots of wealth but its not even. GDP may be high, but per capita GDP is very low. Last 2 hundred years was poor, but in the past it was strong, I agree. Please don't disrespect me by saying "I know nothing about China". I am a proud Chinese too and hope it'll live strong forever.

One World, One Dream
Lsongsong 3 years ago
What's with the hostility from westerner towards China? It's kinda a samilar attitude towards Russia during the cold war (maybe not AS intense)
China is still a communist country and there are A LOT OF things that needs improvment (democracy, enviormental protection etc) but you got to realize it's just imperfect like other developing countries (brazil india etc) You don't see the same hostility towards those countries right? U gotta realize the mentaility is feed to us by the media and gov't.
xxdakenxx 3 years ago 4

You can't.
Rata4You 3 years ago
You are probably wrong, in 10 years it will probably produce more patents than Germany.
seppukuhierarchy 3 years ago
We'll see...but, unfortunately most things that are worthwhile have already been invented and the real work is now beginning on the nano and micro-biological level....China hasn't even started on it's infastructure to even utilize the tools neccessary to help them along. The Chinese send their best to MIT for example...they in turn return home to find that their expertise has no place to go and many then make application to remain in the west but face 8 year waiting periods on average.
Rata4You 3 years ago
The thing is that China has many among the most able students in the world; therefore, it wouldn't be a surprise if China becomes the world's superpower in science and technology once its economy can fund all of the projects it desires.
seppukuhierarchy 3 years ago 2
And that is the trick...how to transition itself from a 3rd world country with 3rd world infastructure to a full blown super-economy that satisfies it's own people let alone the world but many economists believe that the communists in power today would have to relinquish control of it's people in order to realize that potential. One economist believes that communist china is oppressing it's people in order to appease the west - to keep trade on the cheap.
Rata4You 3 years ago
Within 30 years, 30% of the population was lifted out of poverty, which is the fastest in any country. Yes China still has many people in poverty, since most of the population stills lives in the rural areas. China doesn't own the patents, but many Western tech such as Intel rely heavily on overseas Chinese/Taiwanese/Hong Kongnese for development. Some of the most educated people around. Walk into any high tech dev, Chinese people are everywhere.
