  • Edmund Burke was not a knight.

  • I am a Social Democrat, but believe that Burke's conservatism should be applied to all politics. Slow and gradual change is the best way to test the water, using skilled and very careful evaluations.

An example of poor Burkean conservatism is the current Conservative government in the UK, which is revolutionising every British institution based upon an a priori philosophy. The inevitable result is chaos and more economic downturn, just as with Thatcher - the antithesis of Conservatism.

  • @binstence What is atrocious about the spelling? This is exactly how it was spelled from my source.

  • you missed out his best quote, equality is nither achievable or disiarable

  • The quotes are great, but the volume of typos is really disturbing! :(

  • "To understand yourself as free you must first understand yourself as social" Burke was refreshingly frank in his opinion of mans limited ability, something I find unique and interesting about his work

  • Burke was nothing but a tool. Read his works, nothing but a lot of sophistic nonsense. He practically creams himself praising the french monarchy, and is completely dismissive of the suffering of the french people. He played the moderate during the American Revolution, when it suited his interests, and then turned around and wagged his finger at the French revolutionists. and he's an Irishman to boot, so he's a bit of an "Uncle Tom" as well.

  • @BuckFush425 Creating another country (one the British couldn't afford to maintain anyway), and destroying time honored institutions in your own are clean different things. It is not hypocritical to take differing positions in vastly differing matters. The Jacobins did a hell of a lot worse things than any Bourbon did to them.

  • This is the most insulting melodic overlay ever seen with respect to a man like Burke. Shame on you. dog, for doing this !

  • A great Irishman

  • Lose the crappy music. Another weak attempt by liberals to blend right with left.

For example. trying to llink the concept of Christian "marriage" a union of man and woman to something akin to a "civil union" Marriage is not a sorority or fraternity. Liberalism is to be crushed and overcome. Socialism/ liberalism is wrong. Was it the "other" Lenin who spoke of "useful idiots"? Please lose the NLP "framing" of music to message. I'm hip....stop it.

  • I'm afraid I have to correct you on a few issues. I am not a Liberal. I consider myself to be a conservative libertarian.

Liberalism is not wrong. When you think of liberalism, you are thinking of progresivism. I tend to think of Liberalism in the Classical sense, like the founding fathers.

It's just a good song that I thought matched the man and quotes when I made it.

  • @IchBinDieKaiser Correct.

  • Ahh, the good ol' Christian marriage, where the wife was the property of the man. There is no such thing as Christian weddings. There are weddings, which Christians since the beginning have tried to hijack for their purposes.

Also, get a basic understanding of the terms you're using. Thus far you're a pitiful imbecile.

As for you IBDK, some spellchecking would have been nice before posting.

  • spell-checking, you mean.

  • Joined words are extremely common in my native language, so I'm somewhat excused... I hope :)

  • @fairman1952 What IcbBinDieKaiser says, is so true.. but also, you must remember to see things from different angles, which is, in my opinion, what a lot of conservative people find hard. You must remember, that al the founders of the ideologies had very good criticism of the different ideologies. Karl Marx, John Locke, as well as Edmund Burke. and if you do not like the music, then turn it down while you read...

  • @fairman1952 think what youre saying, youre actually adovcating for stagnation in society. anyone who thinks society is without need of repair, you're either disingenuous or an idiot. Judging by how you describe a civil union as though its some kind of social club, and lazy "ur wrong" argument, the smart bets you're an idiot.

  • The juxtaposition of Burke's thoughts with John Lennon's silliness is a slap to Burke's face. Lennon, as a hippie utopian, stood for everything Burke rejected. Lennon and his ilk would have nauseated Burke. Lose the music.
