I am training/practicing to be a barrel racer but love watching horses in all disciplines in general. To save me time, could you tell me the name of the video with all the riding disciplines? I love the fact that in my gym class they do consider riding a sport(: It's listed right along with football and everything else. I die laughing when people are all 'why is that there, its not even a sport' BS. Id LOVE to see you try it.

People only believe horse riding is easy because riders have to make it look like they're not doing anything to instruct the horse at all. If you can make it look like you're just sitting there while the horse is performing a canter pirouette... you're doing it right ;)

Horse riding. One of the, if not the most complex sport. Many don't understand the powerful bond required between horse and rider. I have so many people tell me that horse riding isn't a sport, that it's 'easy' so I say to them; How about you get on my horse, and we'll see how long you survive in the ring eh? Horse riding is my life, and I don't think I could live without it.
love it! the equine world is alot tougher than it seems!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! <3 my horse punch who i am rehabing and training!!!! love him to death! he has a tube in the side of his face due to a cinus infection...... i have to drain it with medicated water twice daily!!!!!!! my poor boy gets it out in a couple of days!!!!!! then its back to weight gaining and muscle building!!!!!! then i get to jump and show!!!!!!!!! yay!!!!!!! :) soooo excited! febuary 11th here i come!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :)

I used to play football aswell as ride...I stopped football as their wasn't enough skill/ hard work to keep me interested....Riding ticks ALL my boxs and after all...Balls are predictable and the animals we deal with aren't. No Footballer I've told to get on my horse when they've slagged it if has stayed and taken me up on the offer...they've run off....instead of falling on the floor crying for NO reason.

that is so true. riding we could die with one false move. the wrong landing could injure the horse and could leave us paralyzed or dead. people shouldnt say its easy or not a sport when i bet they couldnt even trot it correctly.
The trainer(s) at this barn are commendable! It is very rare to watch a video featuring different junior riders who all have the basics down really well-- solid seats, very good, stable lower legs, heels down, independent upper bodies, excellent releases- kudos and keep it up- you're doing very well!
@horsiezforevz If you think gymnastics is easier than horseback riding than your not a very advanced rider or you've always ridden push-button horses. Plus, if you were very far in either sport you would not have enough time to do the other. Horseback riding is a *much* bigger challenge than gymnastics overall, maybe your not looking at the sport as a whole.
I agree about everything except 5 hours a day. Absolutely no horse should be training 5 hours a day. That's ridiculous! Oh and gymnastics and horseback riding both have their difficulties. :) Take it from someone who does both.
If Horses where 'easy' to bond with they wouldn't be hardly any causualties, etc But a real bond, Is showing your horse you care, you believe in him/her, etc, Its far from easy, like to see all you haters get on my horse never mind these horses:/ great videoo
Equestrianism is the absolute greatest sport on earth. Everything said here is true yet people continue to put us down about our passions. I just ahd a friend tell me the other day that she was sore from basketball, and that you dont do much when you ride. I let her have it. I dont think she will ever think of riding in the same way EVER again. wouldnt it be nce if we could change every lame person telling us that their sport such as football is hardest, in the same exact way?

Nobody but someone who rides could understand this it looks so easy and that's what my brother always said he hopped on my horse and fell off when he trotted over a trotting pole.....put him in his place
LOVE IT! This is great, very true. And it might be easy to hop on a horse and ride around but it's not easy doing it right, teaching a horse and yourself as you move up the levels and doing it well. You're a really great rider as well!!
I used to do English hunter/jumper,but...it just wasn't for me. Now, I barrel race! Which I Lv and think is so much fun and exciting. Now everyone always says I hv great posture and stuff for a western rider(although I ride a lot better western I think) and when I tell them I did English for six years thy always understand! ;-)
i may only be a bieginner rider but i know that everything in this video is true the sport we practice isnt easy its hard i love the video it speaks out to everyone about what riders trully deal with are teammate is unpredictable and we have to deal and learn with it all im no were near a perfect rider but who is its nearly impossible to be perfect in this sport.Sorry got sidetracked but still such a great video

I love this! It's really cool...I know what you mean. Everyone always makes fun of me for riding horses. I try to make a point but no one understands the true bond you have with an 1000 pound partner. & the true dedication and passion, & i bet none of them can gallop a horse full speed with not a bit of fear.

I get so mad when people say stuff about how riding isn't a sport. It's so much harder than football, basketball, soccer, etc. People say it isn't a team sport, but it is. You an your horse.

Awesome video, and it shows the type of riding that most of us do (like, not Olympic 3 day eventing, etc...I hope you get what I mean lol). I have 16 horses and I do virtually every discipline with them, even jousting. And no one tells me that it is not a sport lol!

@IRSstables you bend your horse to the inside by squeezing with you inside foot and kicking with your outside foot, just like asking him to canter regularly. Although it may be different for certain horses so its just something you have to find out with your own horse and which signals they take and which they don't
It is love of equines and horsemanship that keeps it together after a bad fall, you have a bond with the horse you ride and I couldnt imagine getting rid of it.
I watch this every time before I ride to make me motivated...your a really good jumper

I love this! It's really cool...I know what you mean. Everyone always makes fun of me for riding horses. I try to make a point but no one understands the true bond you have with an 1000 pound partner. & the true dedication and passion, & i bet none of them can gallop a horse full speed with not a bit of fear.

i absolutley love this. i hate when my parents make me do "basketball" over horseback riding because only basketball is a sport. its not, horseback riding is just as much of a spaort as anything else.

I get so mad when people say stuff about how riding isn't a sport. It's so much harder than football, basketball, soccer, etc. People say it isn't a team sport, but it is. You an your horse.

Awesome video, and it shows the type of riding that most of us do (like, not Olympic 3 day eventing, etc...I hope you get what I mean lol). I have 16 horses and I do virtually every discipline with them, even jousting. And no one tells me that it is not a sport lol!

@IRSstables you bend your horse to the inside by squeezing with you inside foot and kicking with your outside foot, just like asking him to canter regularly. Although it may be different for certain horses so its just something you have to find out with your own horse and which signals they take and which they don't
