  • Snore.....this saifa sucks

  • Comment removed

  • Strange how he didn't do the neck breaking move in the middle ?

  • it says goju ryu at the top. i study shito ryu and the saifa i learned is exactly the same as the way this guy does it.

  • This karataka is performing the competition standard kata. It is the same across all styles who do saifa. Some dojo's/styles will teach the competition standard form and some will teach other variations with different stances, techniques and timing. When I first learned saifa I learned it differently to this. I have since learned this version of it. :-)

  • hey good 1!but regarding the timing we've been taught differently.

  • whats different between goju ryu and koshikan ?

  • if its roots are from okinawa or japan then there will be slight differences in the kata.

  • I like it like that;-))

  • My dojo received a visit from Sensei Meitatsu Yagi, where he had shown us this kata. It is a lot different then what is shown here. Same principals but the techniques are a little different.

  • Okinawa Goju Ryu Karate Do...

  • It's Karate Goju Rio.

  • It's Goyu Ryu

  • Its Goju Ryu

  • yeah i know sorry i just spelt it wrong =S i've gone Goju Ryu for a few years now lol

  • i can do that kata

pretty easy ne. i am up to seinchin or however you spell it.

  • i can do better jk jk

    amazing job.

i wish mine was like that.

  • Very awsome!

  • kyokushin derive from goju becouse Oyama had studied it for long time...

  • oyama studied shotokan he was taught by funakoshi sensei. check your history.

  • Richard, Oyama also studied Goju ryu as well. Right after he left the Shoto-kan he went and studied Goju ryu with Nei-Chu So who in turn studied under Gogen yamaguchi i beleive correct?

  • now maybe am wrong but i think this is saifa of the kyokushin style not goju because the way he starts, but the kata itself is the same.

  • it depends on who his teacher is and how he taught him. it all comes from okinawa.

  • ..damn..just learned this kata...and ive gota long ways to go lol

  • Hehe ... I'm a member of the GKI and Saifa is our third kata. Take it from me that this will take you a long time to really "get". For such an early kata it really is very technically demanding.

Very nice performance. The timing is very different to how I've been taught but that's no great surprise - I've seen many variations on this kata alone.

  • PS - just noticed zeHoboCop's comment below. That probably explains the timing!

  • PS - just spotted zeHoboCop's comment below. That probably explains the timing!

  • He was holding back to make it easier to follow, you can tell because he does not explode on certain moves.
