@Sirka You are right ! Jean Michel Jarre had play 'Pop Corn' in the 'rareties' LP but this is not this tracks. This one is the 'Pop Corn' of M&H band version
Jeezus we still arguing over the Kraftwerk/Jarre versions? FFS Its a version by the M&H band-not a bit of Kraftwerk or Jarre near it. A boring argument that's been going for years, lets move on ferfuckssake, it's tiring...?
This music is timeless, no matter how we look at it. The original track is lot more older than me, but I always liked it, I like it now, and I will like it in the future as well! Thank you for uploading!
J.M Jarre didn't come up with this song at all although it does sound like his work. Popcorn was written by Gershon Kingsley, but the chart topping cover was by Hot Butter.
The origional version of this song was done by a musician called Gershon Kingsley who has one of my favourite musical quotes ever: "Improvised music is just a series of wrong notes played in the right order". Gershon's version is the best and i know there have been many versions of this song.
Hehe, I love this. Reminds me of my time on various LAN parties where every funny song they didn't know/didn't bother to look up who originally made was labled 'Weird Al' Yancovic.
No... that`s not Jarre... but it`s a real fluffy version of the track. ^^ Like it. But why is there a picture of J.M. Jarre? Next time make a research before. ;)
I do have this version of Popcorn as well as the Hot Butter one. Someone put a load of Jarre stuff on for me onto a disc and this was on it. Jean-Michel Jarre showed us his version of Popcorn on one of his previous reincarnations of his website way back in the late ninties but the sound quality then was not very good, so I don't really know if this is a Jarre verson or not. Having said that, I don't think Jarre would have done it this way in spite of his musical unpredicability.
On a videclip I saw on Youtube some months ago one of Jean Michel Jarre aides Francis Rimbert played Popcorn in his room on a hotel he lived in, so why do ya said JMJ haven't played popcorn :p I have also tried to play popcorn on my Technics KN200 keyboard, but I have made that song :p
I have Collected more of 200 versions of Popcorn song, but nobody has improved the original version of Gershon Kingsley until now. I will continue searching...
some say this is kraftwerk other say its jarre, i wouldent be supprised if someone claimed it was metallica, while it really is M&H band or some ok mix of it
Jarre or not, the electric guitar at the end of this version is awesome and it adds a dimension to the song that I had never heard - and I have listened to many versions of this song in my life starting with the first when I was just 6 :)
Jarre made a cover in the early 70's and of course it can't sound like this one which sounds too much 90's.
The original popcorn was produced by Gershon Kingsley in 1969. The most famous version was produced by Hot Butter in 1972. Both are far far far better than your video and other shit dance music remixes.
@Theotim92 Surely this sounds to high tech for the late sixties, but it still was one of the first synthesizer songs created...You can't nearly tell any difference between Jean Michel Jarre's version and the nineties. But sure you can hear that this version is from far later than the 70's, because of the extra input of voices, but that's nearly the only difference. Anyway Go go Popcorn!
@Theotim92 This is just YOUR opinion!..Personnally, I find that Jarre magnifies the rythm of this masterpiece by enhancing the staccato...Furthermore, Kingsley never disconsidered Jarre's works, he regards him like another electronic music pioneer...
@Theotim92 No it's not Jarre's work indeed, it's not Kingsley's as well. There was some page, called earlyrecords (which i couldn't find anymore), where this theme appeared from some noname dude in 50's... This is the best version, no matter who's the main man behind...

Once again, I'd have to ask you to cite evidence of this claim.
I have every M&H Band mix, including this one (which is just the 7" edit) and neither Krafwerk nor Jarre had anything to do with it.
Mark Halliday did the majority of the performance and mixing.
