  • Mozart is without doubt better than Justin Bieber! :)

  • @Rahetor2 how dare you to even compare?

  • @rafaelcenteio Sarcasm - do you know what that strange word means? :)

  • why are musicians always so good looking?

  • @gradius55 cause this was a video, not radio lol

  • Handel, Bach & sons, Brahms, Beathoven, Mozart and Wagner....Germany has definitely contributed dispropotionately to the European classical tradition. They're a clever bunch and no mistake.

  • @smrndoff Very true, but the modern German music is incredible bad and sad!

I dont understand what went wrong with German music.

  • Mozart is not German, he is austrian.

  • So beautiful. :')

  • elegant lady makes poetry voice in the air.

  • @waiiawluis couldn't have said it better myself

  • LIES! lol I am a black violinist. listen to the harlem string quartet. The first person to play Beethoven's Kruetzer Sonata was african. The Saint Louis Symphony has 3 black people in it. . Oh and i am not offended at all.

  • The Germans make strudels. The Italians make pasta. The Chinese make ramen noodles.

You take your pick on what you want to eat at the time. The world is your dinner table.

It's all about sharing ourselves with each other's food and culture. The World would go crazy without coffee.

    Sushi anyone?

  • @albierte Ramen's Japanese.

  • @albierte lol

  • @albierte ramen noodles are japanese LOL and don't you go saying chinese and japanese are the same, because they are NOT.

  • @Clutchmaster91 i'm korean, and i say you all look the same to me

  • @donkim1 You are a bigoted racist assfuc*k

  • Mr. Ashkenazy knows everything about Mozart, brilliant pianist!

  • the orchestra is remarkable

I seldom hear orchestra playng this piece in such a "mozart" manner, excellent!

  • Although music is supposedly universal, when dealing with specifics, it tends to segregate as do all things in the world. Which comes back to personal preference. I for one love to see people enjoy one another's culture as long as no one has to get hurt :)

  • check out Mozart quartet no 2 in D major

  • yeah, this sounds A LOT like Mozart...lol

  • It's so nice to see real English in youtube text comment areas. I guess that's what I get for looking up LOL cat. =)

  • Sorry for an idiot question,

does the conductor looks like magneto??

  • the conductor is vladimir ashkenazy

  • maskScraper looks like magneto

  • janine is dutch idol, i mean world idol

  • ummmm...yeah, what the hell is gray supposed to be?

  • Gray?

  • just wondering why there are not any black people playing classical music ?

by the way i not black i am grey.

all u tube classical stuff does not contain a single black player

as to a conductor i did not dare to think or question

  • Perhaps it's a culytural difference. Black people tend to be more in to rhythmn then melody. I acknowledge that there should be exceptions as we do find white people playing blues music etc. Pehaps black people might explain why this is. Interesting.

  • I know a lot of people that play classical music, one being myself, the only reason that you dont see many black classical music players is that they are not part of a famous orchestra...also the way you said it offended me alittel :(

  • But I have seen many orchestras. I seen Japenese players, chinese players but not one a black player. Even in famous orchestras I never seen one black person. In all these years would would surely expect to come across one.

  • Don't see why you should be even sligthtly offended. I have even heard many black people saying that that culturally they tend to prefer rhythm. Take this onboard, even when I went to see orchestas in Birmingham UK which has a large black community, very few black people went to classical music concerts. When I seen classical music on TV there are very few black people in the audience. Yet I have gone to blues and jazz clubs and found just as many white people as black people.

  • This is an interesting topic of conversation. I disagree with the conclusion that simply because black people are not visible en masse at classical music concerts or playing classical instruments that 'they' as a racial group inherently prefer rhythm to melody (which seems a somewhat odd distinction to draw between classical and mainstream music). There are undoubltably complex sociological mechanisms at work which determine how individuals of varying social groupings engage with music.

  • Remember my comments are not racists comments as some people imply. They are observations. It could be that classical music was at one time for middle class and upper class people only. The poor classes tended to make their own entertainment and music e.g. folk music, blues music, jazz, etc. It would be intersting sociological study to see how many black people throughout the world attend or listen to classical music. BTW I'm not suggesting that there aren't any black people like classical music.

  • I accept your observations, & I hope I didn't seem to be accusing you of racism. Conducting a quantitative study to find out how many among a certain demographic engage in a particular behaviour does nothing to explain why. If it is true that only a small minority of black people engage in the production/consumption of classical music, I would be more interested to know the factors which effect the relationship between classical music & a given social group. Anyway, thank you for posting this.

  • Hmmmm. I see what you guys are saying, but I'm not so sure it can be applied to classical, or for that matter any type of exceptional music. Personally I definitely don't believe that one race would be disposed to like one type of music over an other, though there are clearly genetic differences between races they are almost all cosmetic of highly integrated with cultural exposure.

  • I think that was why people were getting annoyed. They mistook your statements about culture as a statement saying 'black people are genetically less capable of enjoying classical music', which isn't true, and which I don't think you ere saying anyway.

  • @DrMontague I think your comments are racist but not negative, in the sense that racism is a distinction between races, however racism is not synonym of negative

  • Dick head

  • ok??

  • What the heck are you doing here? Who are you calling racist? Can't you just let people enjoy the music and keep your hate to yourself? Egads!

  • Passionate hatred can give meaning and purpose to an empty life.

  • try wynton marsalis strings, wynton marsalis is an african-american who grew up in new orleans.

  • I'm getting this sheet music

  • what do you expect?

  • Haha I love how comments on here stray so far from the actual subject of the video. How did we get on the topic of Karl Marx from a video of a Mozart violin concerto? I'm not complaining; people are just funny sometimes. But don't you think the conductor looks a little like Ian Mckellan?

  • marry me Janine!!

    :´(

    <3

  • okay.

  • search " Anton Polezhayev " he is amazing too

  • All of the best players in the world have huge european influences (Except for late 20th century music)

  • @

    tomward8

Europe cannot possibly have a population of 7 billion since the population of the world is 6 bil 671 mil....

The population of Europe is aprox. 728 mil which is about 11% of the entire world population.

  • I said .7 Billion (Point 7)

  • By the way r u half Korean?

  • lol i only care about music. I agree there are lots of great asian musician. I'm a guitarist and three of my favorite guitarists are Yamashita Kazuhito, Wang Yameng and John Williams (1/8 asian).

  • China has a population of around 1.3 billion and europe .7 billion. The chinese have been writing music for over 2000 years and the europeans less than 1000.

Much as traditional chinese music is often beautiful, colorful virtuosic and evocative they hardly made it past the pentatonic scale!

  • My ex gf played her first concert at 5 and was rated no.6 out of 110 by the Rachmaninov society of America for her 17yo recording of Rac 3. She could do this because (like a lot of asian parents) her mum was very strict. She made her run for 8 kms and practice for an hour before she was allowed breakfast in the morning since she was about 7. She is Spanish (and also speaks Russian).

  • It's always controversial issue how children should be educated. Perhaps this the reason many Asians sound very robotic in their playing. Paganini practised 10 hours a day because he wanted to. His father was also very strict. Even though Paganini willingly practised for hours his father would sometime refuse to let him have supper if he didn't think he had made enough progress in his playing.

  • The reason people think Asians sound robotic is due to hard working kids being taught by average and unmusical teachers. This was often the case when western art music first took of in Asia. Not all the teachers were bad but a lot. This has changed to some extent recently, though the big universities in China and also the USA often teach a very robotic style of playing which sounds especially bad when interpreting 19th century music.

  • asian languages use pitch instead of syllables or wording, thats why most certainly asians will form either relative or perfect pitch.

the robotic playing is due to functioning on rules and what is, rather than what can be.

same as asian pianists, very few have good rubato.

as for paginini, he wasnt really forced to practice, he was a man who didnt like being told he couldnt do, so whenever a challenge was presented he took it on.

his technique and compositions are the finest because of this

  • Many people go to see a soloist perform in reality listen to the concerto with their eyes not their ears, meaning they rely on the performer's physical movements to relate to the emotion of the peice rather than it's actual musical elements. A soloist who doesn't sway with the music may look robotic, but that certainly doesn't make his/her playing automatically dry and flat.

  • Agreed, though when you have heard this song so many times. The emotion, of the players does make them that much better.

When I listened to this, I didn't need the volume to know what it sounded like. I've heard this hundreds upon hundreds of times.

It is also what sets talented amateurs apart from passionate professionals.

  • i haven't even listened to this yet but your comments are hilarious, lol you are a moron. This piece was written by a Caucasian! In my experience the best Mozart interpreters have studied at the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis in Switzerland or the Italians from the academia ottocento. I'm Australian/English/Russian. Also the last i heard of Sarah Chang was a boring pop song the likes of Vanessa Mae!

  • Excellent counter argument.

  • That only means that these Asian musicians are kicking your ass at your own game! And it's not only in music where they are beating the crap out of you whites - in math, science, biology/medicine, engineering, even law - all the top graduates & professionals are Asians. To me it is *very clear* that you whites are way, way inferior to Asians. Even in looks, they are cuter and more attractive than you pale-skinned Caucasoids! BTW I'm neither Asian nor white, so I'm being quite objective here.

  • From your comments I would guess you know very little about music and musicality. I have a question for you. Would you mind commenting on one of your favorite performers in detail and telling me what is musical about their performance, in comparison to someone you don't like playing the same piece? With some detail. I don't think you can!

  • well now i see why there is no peace in this world:D i mean c'mon Asians are cool and Caucasians are great also...we r all humans and there are many many great exemples about people who were serieusly unrated still they become history(not only music i mean in everything it can happens:) ) thats so beautifull in beeing a human that we have millions and millions of chances deep in us...in my opinion everybody is the Best and nobody is Less...sorry for bad english...from Belgium:)))))

  • If you want to understand the reason we have hate in the world I recommend that you read the works of philosopher Karl Marx esp. his writings on class struggle. There is nothing wrong with constructive criticism it raises standards.

  • i heard about Marx and thanx for tryin to help but u know im only 16 and im still in the world of Gabriel Garcia Marquez trying to smile every day and say peace to everyone im deffenetly goin to read Marx and Engels but not now...maybe later..

  • Janine Janseni is really a great violinst

  • The orchestra is fantastic, I must say!

  • Very talented indeed....

  • OK, I don't know whether you agree or not: Vladimir Ashkenazy looks kind of like Leonard Bernstein, doesn't he?

  • Agree. Only, Ashkenazy is a Cossack while Bernstein is a cowboy. :)

  • Hahaha, He does look like Bernstein!!!

  • 2006? This looks like mid 1990s...

  • wow... the orchestra sounds so good and professional! i wish my country (brunei) had a youth orchestra...

  • We establish a youth orchestra me and Awg Sumadi Sukaimi who was my boss in Brunei. That's a children's orchestra. That was 1988, I don't know what happened to it after I left Beunei in 1990. It was under Kementerian Kebudayaan Belia dan Sukan. I would like to go back there someday and make your dream come true. I'm a Filipino now living in Canada.

  • Best of luck to you. This music was meant to be appreciated by the world. It transcends borders and races.

  • did you know that a 'janine jansen appreciation society' group exists on facebook ?

  • It is always easier to criticize than to actually be creative and perform. Janine Jansen is beautiful and talented. Itzhak Perlman is talented as well, but it is Janine Jansen who is performing in this video.

It is a real joy to see and hear Janine Jansen. She must have been sent by God.

  • naruto00000000. I don't allow insults against the musician in any of the videos I upload. This is why I have removed your comment. By all means Criticise and compare performances, but please refrain from usinginsulting language.

  • holy crap...the orchestra sounds amazing for a youth.

  • Ohhhh to be good enough to play in the Youth Orchestra :( hehehe

  • Private message me the address please.

  • gosh, the orchestra is so good. it's rare to find young orchestras play that well. janine is good too.

  • she's hot! great performance

  • The strad society lent her a violin... nuff said

  • oh yes she is !

  • in that case, all i can say is, i am sorry for you if you think so.

  • the best violin player alive today !

  • OH - MY - GOD. WAKE UP!!! SHE'S NOT!!

  • you are right!

  • We can only conclude that your choice of words cannot but reflect your personal development: pretty low level, I would say.

  • oooooooooo janine sighhhh
