  • why not use a kotatsu as dryer lol

  • I don't know how to use the coin laundry in my mansion!! I'm afraid to go wash my own clothes!

  • now i know why they have their own washers :D

  • im very curious why did you have to turn off the video camera when the japanese person came in?

  • I didn't have to, but talking to "myself" alone in a laundry mat makes me seem even weirder than I already do... :P

  • @ZyriaLuvWG I'm assuming it's just kinda embarrassing to be filming yourself in an empty coin laundry place XD

  • I'll make sure I never again complain about my school charging $1.00 to wash and $1.00 to dry.... sorry to hear you spent close tO $25 to do your laundry...

  • Its amazing how so many things here are a complete ripoff in terms of pricing, but since people accept it, the ripoff pricing thrives....

  • lol yup, I do my own laundry :]

I both hang my clothes and use a dryer lol, back at home. At the UC, I go to, I can only use the dryer because its too windy to let my clothes sit on the balcony haha. At school, the load is like around $1.50 and the dryer is I think either $0.75 or $1.

  • That's scary! (>ω<) I never thought it'd be that expensive! I hope being in Tokyo will somehow lower the price (^ω^;;) Oh is the clothes detergent expensive too???

  • the price of the washing machine includes detergent, automatically added in, so it is handy like that

  • Oooo amazing, So for people who have hand washers they save money

  • Wow! Pricy.

  • @nokomarie1963 No kidding! That's way more expensive than even Tokyo! WOW!

  • I have never used a dryer in Japan :(

  • i was very lucky to have a dryer as a JET. Since my clothes are bigger than most, it certainly helped, especially in winter. It made my clothes softer too, so that was nice. But it was an electric dryer, so I had a higher elec bill each month cuz I used it a lot.

  • When we were living in Matsue we had a washer and dryer, but the dryer didn't get the clothes completely dry, so we still had to hang them up after "drying" them. :/

    Star Wars bag FTW!

  • wow those are some expensive machines! when I was in tokyo, each load was 200 yen. no dryer, so my room had clothes hanging everywhere!

  • i love your star wars bag!!! laundry is one of my least favorite chores.

  • 日本の基本的生活物価はなにせ高いです。円高でさらに高い印象になっていると思います。コスト負担は人の頭数によるのでやむを得ませんが特に都会ほどコスト高い。設備投資が集中しているようです。

  • Lol! I spent a fortune doing laundry in Japan. It was like my clothes never dried. The power is much lower in Japan it seems. Like with my hair dryer etc. Luckily, I went during the summer, so me and others started hand washing and hanging it up in the room/bathroom.. haha.

  • WELCOME BACK! I use a drying rack, I just plan ahead and wash a day prior to when I need them. There just isn't enough room for a dryer in my apartment right now. It's not a good idea to hang dry on the balcony when you see small puddles frozen over on the streets where I'm at.

  • Yes, I do my own laundry :) Usually 1 load costs about 200yen. I air dry my clothes outside or inside. Outside is sort of closed off so my clothes don't get wet from rain or snow and inside I use my aircon to help dry them.

  • I use the coin laundry dryers every season.. haha.. I'm way too impatient for air drying.

  • Coin Laundry woot

  • wow Pricey, Something I have been wondering about is the Average cost of living. I mean when us back in the states see stuff like 23$ to wash and dry 2 medium loads of laundry it seems very high price. but if the pay for jobs is better then the states it will probally equal out. I know your just there for a couple weeks but if you have a chance to respond to this it would be great. Anyway have fun and I look forward to a clip from the Sumo if you get a chance.

  • it seems like this place in particular is a bit pricey. And if you lived here regularly, my guess is you would wash your clothes and just take them there to dry, which isn't that expensive.

  • @myargonauts Actually, where I live, in the middle of nowhere country, its almost exactly the same pricing. So either its a common practice outside major cities or just that insanely expensive...

  • That's so expensive!! It seems cheaper just to buy new clothes instead of washing the ones you have.

If it was cold or raining out when I did my laundry, I just hung them inside.

  • Dang, doing laundry there is expensive. :0

  • Indeed
