Sorry but the Earps couldn't have built that cabin in 1872 - Wyatt had recently left (as he often did when things weren't going well) Iowa and appeared next in Wichita in late 1874.  As most know: he went from Witchita to Dodge City and then to Tombstone AZ (territory) during the years 1874 to 1880.

There's little chance he was in So. Cal. until the 1890s.

The claim about he cabin is either just a misstatement or one of those "legends" made up for tourists.

@Dunkleosteus3691 I'm sure we'll get Veronica to straighten this out. She's pretty good with facts. In a past career, she was an expert at checking them. Stand by, we'll get her to comment. By the way, where did you get your facts that dispute this? Just for the record.

@Dunkleosteus3691 The Earps ties to Clyde Ranch are pretty well documented in Wrightwood. I interviewed the owner, Robert, and trusted that he had his info correct. Another source of information was the Wrightwood Historical Society. According to Wikipedia, on May 12, 1864, the Earp family joined a wagon train heading to California.. The Earps traveled quite often, and building the cabin was "payment" for staying at the ranch.

@vawlkee There were some fierce dogs that were by the main house. Didn't want to take a chance they were on a restricted diet.
