  • hes hitting the enemies with his extenda batton dink!

  • HAHAHAHAHAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • this looks like crap and probably plays like crap :(

  • Such an irony that the NES version being more sought for could only have 1 player onscreen. I can see that this version supported two players. Thus fitting of the name DOUBLE Dragon. Pretty interesting.

  • Omg! How he do to play with that oO??

  • is elbow hit or a normal hit?

if it is a normal hit that sux.

if it is a elbow hit that rox

  • best game ever!!!!!!!! on 2600

  • This was made by pure greed. Atari was long dead by the time this was ported, ugh. Anyone know how much this cost retail? Btw atari 2600 new sold for $50 in 1988

  • People who sold this game were evil

  • My newphew is 8 and he laughed at this video because he didnt' realize video games used to look like this.

  • the problem with double dragon for the atari 2600 is that your character's arms don't reach far enough to hit them before they hit you.

  • @shamrock8806

Gotta agree with this, you have to develop a REALLY good sense of timing with that very limited reach in this version of Double Dragon. However... Once I get them on the ground (with usually an elbow smash)I just get right next to the enemy, just above or below them(never go toe to toe with them, you'll usually end up loosing) and keep wailing away.

  • @shamrock8806 The problem with Double Dragon for the Atari 2600 is that it's Double Dragon for the Atari 2600. Amazing that they managed to get so much out of such a decrepit console, but really, this game does not belong on such a tech-disadvantaged format. See also: Shadow of the collosus, Just Cause 1 and the PS2 GTA games among Many, many others.

  • Is he farting on them?

  • @JakeLL

Never really thought about that, but yea, I can see the resemblance while doing the elbow smash! X^D Haha!

  • what a fucking head ache of a game! and at the end all u get is ''you win"........ PETHETIC

  • the intellivision version is way better then this crap

  • @hamster700

I don't know whether to laugh hysterically or cry over this comment... Just so you know, there is no such Intellivision version of Double Dragon.(unless by some freak coincidence somebody out here on the intarwebz is actually working on a homebrew version for it haha ^_^ )

  • You should stop trying so hard to be funny.

  • @vinguru896

Or you should get a sense of humor... =^) That was merely a product of my boredom and trying out YouTube's new video functions.

  • I would never expect the 2600 have the game Double Dragon. And if 2600 had a version of this game, I would never expect it to seem anywhere near as good as this!

  • i wish i had this game!

  • Rampage had better graphics, if I remember right

  • I remember a mate of mine having this on their Atari 2600 and I also remember thinking this version made my Commodore 64 version (which was diabolical) look GOOD in comparison.

  • 1:11 ow

  • poor mans double dragon for the win!!! ^.^

  • WOW!!! didnt believe this was real. if only it had the other part of the song...Impressive though

  • The fact that there's an Atari 2600 version of this game left me laughing when I saw it in a used games shop a few years ago, and it's even funnier since it's actually quite fun!

  • wow this actually looks quite good for the atari 2600.

  • lol

  • omg , this resembles a night out in manchester. poor looking sprite included :) hehe :p

  • Man, I tried this on my 2600 yesterday, and I was smashed by the bad guys! Are you the terminator or something? Congratulations for the video (and your skill).

  • @rodrix2 Heheheh, thanx dewd! ^_^

  • This was really 2600? The graphics and sound are phenomenal for that system. You had to trick it to just draw two different colors in the same horizontal line!

  • This was THE single hardest version of Double Dragon ever made. Me And my brother could actually finish this & i remember people at school wouldn't believe us, so ofcourse we'd have to invite them round & show them.

  • lol is this for real i mean a lincenced game or some selfmade pirate ?

  • I love when the girls die... lol

  • LLLOOOOLLL @ this game compared to any other Double Dragon game. Especially the sound hahaha.

  • I love your commentary. I am lulzing.

  • Wow, this must be the most advanced Atari 2600 game out there!

  • Yes, you can has cheeseburger.

  • Hey the fact that it was made for the 2600 is amazing and activision did there best with the old ass hardware and it actually turned out mediocre.

  • This isn't worthy of the name Double Dragon.

  • it looks better then the master system version.

  • @vanillamillz

The Master System version looks a lot better than the NES version, just like every other game that came out on both systems.

  • @JeriousGreenwood You must have a touch of the D. You cant even har pull kick or over shoulder throw on the SMS version. the graffix are crap compare the back ground on the NES to no background on the SMS. When you play the SMS version you see why NES didnt have two players.

  • @vanillamillz

good call. I forgot about the two players. But most every other game on the sms has better graphics than the nes.

  • its like a dance club.

    dd' looks better then ps3.

this version goes for 30. a little high for an atari game compared to mario bros or donkey kong.

  • Punching people sounds like my cat sneezing.

  • is he punching or throwing his elbows? i can't figure it out for somereaon.

  • baaad lol

  • yes, nes version better

atari lol atari games got sprites from paint

  • prefer the NES version

  • the linda's look like they have pop corn for heads !

  • i used to have this game for the atari 7800 and it was hard but fun!

  • I'm impressed they actually managed to port Double Dragon to the 2600. Considering the system's specs, this game is a true achievment.

  • Wait, his attack is an elbow? They couldn't just have him punch?

  • this can't be real...

  • lol it kinda looks like he's kicking the shit out of enemies with his ass XD

  • The ass of justice.

  • at least it has music, unlike the Commodore Shitty Four port

  • This is...incredible.

Read the Atari Age website to learn the HILARIOUS limitations of the 2600.

The more you read, the more you realize that this is impressive under those specs and that style graphics system.

  • @Chasmodon

Exactly and since this was one of the later releases for the 2600, the programmers had learned a lot of tricks to get the hardware to do things nobody ever thought it could. It's always that way. The best games usually come out near the end of a consoles life cycle. In the beginning all they have to go on is the documentation the manufacturer provides them but they learn a lot of things that are undocumented as time goes on.

  • @Chasmodon You know what? Graphics DO NOT make a game. Maybe this is the best game on Atari 2600 from a graphics standpoint. It doesn't matter because it's crap. Funny how Adventure had the simplest graphics you can find (your character was a generic SQUARE for God's sake) yet it was extremelly addicting.

  • And I thought the C64 version was the worst!!!!!!

  • At the time this game was released, the Atari 2600 was 12 years old. It's actually a pretty awesome achievement.

  • Don't you just LOVE feeling warm, hairy balls in the roof of your mouth ???

  • I was baffled when I saw this video.

I never knew that Double Dragon has been produced for the Atari game system(s) too...

My only experience with Double Dragon has been with the Game Boy Classic, which I bought from a nephew.

I must say that Double Dragon was pretty hard on the Game Boy too, mostly the body-builder kind of enemies seemed impossible to beat.

Though I can't imagine playing this version for more than a minute or 5, the music lacks variation...

  • COOL

  • Despite the limitations of the 2600, you could tell that the programmers actually cared enough to try to make this game somewhat playable, unlike a lot of the crap games that were put out...Holy Crap, Abobo is throwing a giant turd!

  • Frickin awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • absolutely best atari game next to crystal castles!

  • much better than the c64 port :D

  • i used to love this game!!!
