Very , very sad to hear that Poly Sytrene of the 70's Punk band X Ray Spex has love her fight against cancer. I saw her and her band a number of times 76 / 77 at Barberella's in Birmingham, great times , she will live on through her music and in her own words " oh bondage up yours !"

The saxophonist is annoyingly off-screen. I suspect it may be Lora Logic, from the slightly sour tone and the way in which, as Poly kvetched at once point, s/he plays all over her vocals. It'd be neat if it was, as I've not seen any footage of her with the band (not that she's really seen here either :( ).

She cut the bottom off at the proper length, sliced holes in for the arms to go through and stuck her head through the zipper opening at the top.Just find yourself a body bag and a pair of scissors.

60;s mod clothes were in ala Agent 99 on Get Smart, or Edie Sedgewick..

They started out wearing SM bondage clothes...I think Malcolm McLaren had some craxzy store!

Best bet, find old patterns, look up 60's vintage clothes. We have a vntage clothes store here. I want to be more creative.

lots of shit went down, lora (sax) left to start another band and poly (vox) was hospitalized for a while in a psych ward w/ an incorrect diagnosis of schizophrenia, which was later correctly diagnosed as Bi-Polar Disorder and she was released. at which time i guess everyone fell away from each other... sad :(

Of all the videos I have seen of X-Ray Spex, and of Poly Styrene on her own, THIS video, next to the video of "Oh Bondage! Up Yours!", is my "fave of faves". When you all look at the later performances of X-Ray Spex, Poly Styrene gives an outstanding performance, especially on those TV clips. But admittedly, they are nothing like what I saw on this clip when Poly and the Spex first got started. She clearly showed high, raw, emotional intensity...something I call "bratitude"...and I love it!:-)
