  • Three cylons heard this song.

  • mcjacobs2488 You are not the only one,,,but if the first BSG silly as it was, survived..the re-imagined one will live Eternally...it is so weird that when I married 25 years ago our entrance to the reception was the BSG theme from the old show. I am now so proud that my husband and I decided upon that theme. I re-imagined the re-imagined 25 years ago and it shall live Forever. What I never re- imagined were Human- like Cylons or a female Starbuck! AMAZING! I miss and love Battlestar Galactica!

  • Bear McCreary you magnificant bastard! That was one hell of a piece of music and I couldn't have done it better myself!

  • "Apollo, you magnificent bastard, that was one hell of a piece of flying and I couldn't have done it better myself!"

  • Are there more pieces like this one, not necessarily from battlestar galactica? If I'm not wrong the language used is Scottish. Good song.

  • I love the militaristic tone to this song, I love the spiritual feeling it provides after hearing it, and I love the language used to provide an ancient feeling. Bear McCreary really creates music for this show that is not only appropriate for the setting, but exceeds expectations by providing a memory and rhythm that continues to convey itself long after the show has ended.

    10/10! Perfect!

  • Love the show absolutely hated the ending. It was cheap!!!!!! I would have liked it better if they appeared in the modern day. Instead they end 500,000 years and cheat the audience out of an encounter thats cheap.

  • @bailong329 no it was utterly mind blowing, and a shock not cheap

  • @TheInFormer500 Dude do you even know how the original ended? THe exact same way I don't want a remake of the original ending I wanted something Original that seperated the Old BSG from the New. I am talking as the fan. I liked the series cuz it took an old concept and made it original by making it grittier and darker as it should have been instead of this happy go lucky shangri la 70s shpeel that just had combat in it. Which I hate with a passion cuz its too optimistic.

  • @bailong329 i havent finished watchin the old yet but overall they did a great job and think it was a good twist that it was in the past actually, it fits in well with the dark gritty bsg universe, because they have to do everything themselves, no one is out there to help them so they would never find the 13 tribe, and then all of the sudden there troubles go away, they had to make their own fresh start.

  • @TheInFormer500 Except in that one they went with the refugee thing but it wasn't how actual refugee scenario plays out. Look up the lost boys of Sudan or any Cuban Exile story and thats what you will expect thats the New BSG. The old BSG didn't go that far, and in reality in the real scenarios did their troubles really end? I will argue no cuz eventually they kept coming back to their original problems with no end in sight. Especially the Lost Boys they have to deal with the fact that the_

  • @bailong329 whole world either knows the problems in Africa but doesn't really do anything besides send humanitarian Assistance which really doesn't solve the problem it just creates new ones ( Like what we saw in Samalia when Task Force Ranger was sent to secure UN Aid and bring Aidid to justice) or they don't know about it and they just dont care. Sure Africa and Cuba have come a long way but they still have the same problems they had before with vary lil light at the end of the tunnel.

  • Sweat drenched pilots, flowing champagne, cigar smoke, unspoken congratulations between father and son and this song at the background.. just epic!

  • YES! I've found it! Thanks for upload :)

  • It's been over two years now since the show ended. And I'm still depressed about it..

Is something wrong with me?? WHY DO I MISS THIS SHOW SO MUCH??!!

  • @mcjacobs2488 I miss it too buddy! I just rewatched the whole series over the course of 2 weeks. One of the best!

  • @mcjacobs2488 really awesome show i watched it just a while ago not knowing what to expect and found it amazing, can remember this when then named the craft Laura :')

  • @mcjacobs2488 Nothing's wrong with you. Battlestar Galactica was one of the greatest t.v. shows in the history of broadcasting. It's been like 3 years at least, and they still can't leave it alone. With Caprica and Blood And Chrome, the world that this show brought out will NEVER die.

  • Lovely Irish pipes <3

  • epic! best music, best series!

  • when was this scene?

  • @JumpFirstLookLater1 Early in the first season, when Apollo and a few others return from having obliterated a Cylon base and secured enough fuel for the Fleet to continue for another three seasons. Also, that time I found five bucks in my back pocket.

  • @JumpFirstLookLater1 This scene? This song was used in about a dozen scenes through the series, and was in Caprica once or twice as well.

  • so say we all

    così diciamo tutti

  • Man. This scene was magnificent. Humanity's first victory, and the show did such a good job making you feel a part of it. Tapped into all the right emotions and was f*ing amazing.

  • All of this has happened before and all of this will happen again..

  • This is the only time in the series that I can remember where everyone was simultaneously happy and there was no immediate retribution for being so.

  • I have to get round to watching the rest of Galactica. I'm half way through the second series, it is FANTASTIC

  • and from the hills we shall return to our homeland. So say we all!

  • Adding this to my playlist of slow Waltz dance music, so say we all.

  • When i saw that scene, I wonder how great feeling have to be done such a great victory...

  • im loving all the 'So say we all' comments. You guys make me proud to be a nerd.

  • @Willsr14 So say we all. ;)

  • Two people should be put in the airlock.

  • @MrGordonni

    agreed!

  • This is very similar sounding to Joe Strummer's recording of Minstrel Boy. Same key, same key changes, same beat, same vocal style... nifty

  • so say we all so say we all!!! SO SAY WE ALL!!!

  • So say we all

  • so say we all sso asy we all SO SAY WE ALL!!!!!!

  • BSG represents the best in Sci Fi, it was the last frontier of the golden age. It took us to the very places that other shows only dared to tread. It showed us about what it means to be human in all its gritty detail, and reminded us that even the worst of us still had redemption. Long live BSG. So say we all!!

  • @darkherostar so say we all

  • "what about the main hanger bay?"

'it's been turned into a gift shop'

    "frak me"

  • so say we all

  • SO SAY WE ALL!!!!!!

  • is this just the minstrel boy sung in Celtic?

  • @sundancekid9000 not sure - never heard of the language Celtic?

  • @boru1982 its irish-gaelic. the song is told from the perspective of a dead man asking his friends to live good lives for him.

  • @thebludoc In Ireland its either called Irish or Gaeilge.

  • @boru1982 free-lyrics.o-r-g/Bear-McGreary/29480-Wander-My-Friends.html lyrics

  • @boru1982 why?

  • so say we all

  • so say we all

  • so say we all

  • so say we all

  • so say wel all

  • Two people are Cylons....

  • @Zauberkiste ich geh mal bei deinem Nick davon aus, dass Du diese Sprache verstehst: Es nervt! Der Witz ist schon bei allen gefühlten 2.000.000 BSG-Videos unlustig.

  • @Zauberkiste they have built another one.

  • @Zauberkiste we discovered a 3rd hidden cylon!

  • @Zauberkiste Shut the fuck up.

  • Comment removed

  • @Zauberkiste They are 3 now! They are here! May the gods help us!!!

  • @Zauberkiste Looks like Number Three has arrived.

  • so say we all

  • isnt the instrument in the song a chanter?

    and is that gaelic?

  • SO SAY WE ALL.

  • This along with the Farewell Adama version are my favorites.

  • Everytime I hear this song im reminded of everyone cheering on Galatica after the cylon base was destroyed.Everyone was happy. Not one part after this episode had the humans excited like they were at the end of this episode. Its kinda sad/odd seeing as the episode this was played(Hand of God) was only in season 1.After this every character you knew and loved died one by one.

  • I really refute the concept that BSG was heavily influenced by B5. I think Ron Moore had always had a knack for wanting to tell comprehensive stories that spanned a deal of time, captivated the viewer, and we're mature in their content. Hell, he attempted to do that with DS9- and to an extent they succeeded, but not to the extent of BSG. I really don't think B5 set the tone for what BSG did.

  • @Boombopdapitty I concur, the show had way more parallels with DS9. They both started a season with a series of occupation episodes for godsake.

  • I just watched Black Hawk Down, and I'm fairly certain the first song from the credits served as inspiration for this one. Both are great songs

  • @AndrewCorvin I was just thinking that- certainly the structure is the same.

  • Alright i just cried - I havent listening to a piece of music for ages thats done that to me!

  • Siulaigi a cahirde, siulaidh liom Mar cheo an tsleibhe uaine ag Lmeacht go deo D’ainneoin ar dtuirse leanfam an tsli Thar chnoic is thar ghleannta Go deireadh na scrlbi Seo libh a chairde is canaidh liom Llonaigin oiche le greann is le sport Seo slainte na gcarad ata imithe uainn Mar cheo an tsleibhe uainn lad imithe go deo
  • @spartandud3 and also, do you know the translation to that passage? It'd mean a lot if you could tell me, i can't find it anywhere

  • @Willsr14

    (English translation)

Wander my friends, wander with me

Like the mist on the green mountain, moving eternally

Despite our weariness, we'll follow the road

Over hills and valleys, to the end of the journey

Come on my friends and sing with me

Fill the night with joy and sport

Here's a toast to the friends who have gone from us

Like the mist of the green mountain, gone forever

  • @jointtaskforce11 Thank you :)

  • @spartandud3 Your copy-paste skills are truly impressive.

  • @Supermassively nawwwww thank you

  • this is how you spell it: Siúlaigí a chairde, siúlaidh liom Mar cheo an tsléibhe uaine ag imeacht go deo D'ainneoin ár dtuirse leanfam an tslí Thar chnoic is thar ghleannta go deireadh na scríbi Seo libh a chairde is canaidh liom Líonaigí'n oíche le greann 's le spórt Seo sláinte na gcarad atá imithe uainn Mar cheo an tsléibhe uaine, iad imithe go deo
  • Two copies of number six didn't like this song^^

  • Also it's gaeilge

  • irish lyrics

  • @Seriath1 Gealic actually

  • @Seriath1 Gealic actually. i think i spelled that wrong

  • @CatsRuleDogsAreTards Yeah. It's Gaelic, not "Gealic". ;>)

  • @RealDougal at least i used the right letters and didn't spell it like this: galicese

  • @CatsRuleDogsAreTards Fair enough; I'll give you bonus points for that ;>) lol

  • You can not tell me that this was not inspired by Minstrel Boy, performed by Joe Strummer (Blackhawk Down soundtrack...)

  • @cmc10101 I thought I heard something similar before!

  • @cmc10101 Seems Bear 'borrows' a lot of music from Black Hawk down. There are a few more themes from BSG that sound exactly like a few from BHD

  • @cmc10101 My thoughts exactly.

  • Beutiful peice and no mistake. Might have been nicer in Scots Gaelic than Eirs Gaelic, but hey. Nah, i kid, still amazing

  • Could some Irish speaking person please tell how to pronounce 'Seo sláinte na gcarad atá imithe uainn* ??? Thank you!!

  • @2dum2live

I'm not exactly a master of phoentics but...

Seo - shu (like shut but without the t)

sláinte - slawnche (Google this and you'll easily find people saying it)

na - simple enough 'a' is short as oppposed to á which is long like 'aw'

    gcarad - garad

    atá - ataw

    imithe -imiheh

    Uainn - oo-in

  • @Eoind I think i got it. Thanks a ton.

  • The lyrics are beautiful: Siúlaigí a chairde, siúlaidh liom Mar cheo an tsléibhe uaine ag imeacht go deo D'ainneoin ár dtuirse leanfam an tslí Thar chnoic is thar ghleannta go deireadh na scríbi Seo libh a chairde is canaidh liom Líonaigí'n oíche le greann is le spórt Seo sláinte na gcarad atá imithe uainn Mar cheo an tsléibhe uaine, iad imithe go deo
  • @CanSpy

    Can you translate that?

  • @zeratul1356 Sure. Wander my friends, wander with me Like the mist on the green mountain, moving eternally Despite our weariness we'll follow the road Over hill and and valleys to the end of the journey Come on my friends and sing with me Fill the night with joy and sport Here's a toast to the friends who have gone from us Like the mist of the green mountain, gone forever
  • @CanSpy

    Thanks

  • So say we all !

  • Two people were flying new vipers and had their flight controls scrambled

  • The end of the episode that played this song was actually probably the most "cheerful" moment of show surprisingly

  • is that the music played in the end of "hand of god"?

  • @ymatheys

I think Hand of God was the first time it played, but its showed up plenty of times since then.

  • @TariqAlSuave

This song is a version of the adama theme. The first of this theme I think is "A Good Lighter"

  • is that the Adama theme?

  • 2 people havent a heart.....

  • What I find extremely intresting, and can't find any information about, is the connection to "Minstrel Boy", on the Black Hawk Down soundtrack. Both have origins tied to old Irish songs, and are exactly the same tune, minus the lyric and language changes. Wiki gives me nothing!

  • Wander my friends, wander with me Like the mist on the green mountain, moving eternally Despite our weariness we'll follow the road Over hill and and valleys to the end of the journey Come on my friends and sing with me Fill the night with joy and sport Here's a toast to the friends who have gone from us Like the mist of the green mountain, gone forever

  • what language is this in?

  • @FFJunkie10 i think its Irish (Gaeilge), but i'm not 100% sure.

  • This is probably the best bit of season 1. Apollo proves to us that he's just as good as Starbuck, if not better.

    SO SAY WE ALL!!!

  • So... update: I didn't want to say this last year, because I didn't wanna sound like an emotional.... whatever. I graduated law school and changed jobs to my new agency last July, leaving behind classmates and coworkers. I worked in the Post Office 15 years. I came home after my last shift and played this and BURST into tears at the first chorus. I thought of all the coworkers who had died over the years, and the friends I made. Most emotional feeling ever. Thanks, Bear...

  • I like to think of this as the Adama theme. You can hear it mostly when Apollo (Lee) & Cmdr./Admr Adama are together. It's also heard in Season 1 of Caprica during an emotional Adama family moment. =)

  • @Solarnova Actually, Bear said that's sort of what he was thinking about when he put it together.

  • i thaught at the beggining the guy was doing a retarded nah nah nah nah not knowing the words at 1:03 hahahaha

  • SO SAY WE ALL!

  • So say we all!

  • Man, this song gets me all emotional.

  • Just rewatched the Battle of the Asteroid in season one, where this first appears and this song is such a great punctuation mark for the victory. You really get a sense of Adama's line of thinking when he says, "when you turn around and punch a bully he'll think twice about coming after you the next time."

  • i know how it sounds, but all the messed up shit in the world, our evils, our mistakes, they are forgotten with just one piece of music that envelopes u and makes u forget all that. love this!

  • SG-1 is nothing compared to this!

  • Oh yeah also made a nice video for this same song that isnt a still screen and is quite nice to look at. If anyone is interested :)

    Slán

  • Lots of videos iand songs in Irish language on my page for anyone interested. I can always do with more subscriptions!!!

    Go raibh maith agaibh!

  • To the two people who dislike this song FRAK YOU TOO!!!

  • Just listening to this makes me want to watch Battlestar again, one of the best shows ever made.

  • @Distephano2006 no! its the best show ever made!!!

  • @Distephano2006 me too. im glad i own the DVDs. and i dont think this show will be beat anytime soon.

  • @ministermundain I agree. 24 comes close, but for pure drama without a twist, this has no equal. Accept no substitutes!!!

  • @ministermundain so say we all. No other will beat BSG than BSG itself.

  • Lee: What if it were me down there?

Adama: You don't have to ask that. If it were you we'd never leave.

    Perfect.

This song reminds me of that scene everytime.

  • :°°°°°°°) so we say all!

  • This song just warms every part of my body. The show overall was incredible, but the score is probably its biggest achievement. Especially this song and its variations.

  • bear Mc creary is a very good composeur thank you !

  • Sounds very much like "The Minstrel Boy." Obvs influenced by it.

  • @SuperSaiyanAl I know right? That's probably why I like it so much

  • is this the song at the end of the episode? if it's not witch song is it?

I can only remenber I really likes the song

  • they play this song a lot during the series... mainly after battle scenes... for example episode hand of god when lee returns to galactica... also play it a lot during season with peggy

  • you might be looking for 'a good lighter'.....thats the instrumental version

  • @BrILjanTje

this was played at the ending of the episode the hand of god season 1.

  • it was usually played during funerals and memoriams

  • This played at midnight at my party on New Year's Eve and was most welcomed.

Happy New Year to you all... May the Gods / One True God / Whatever you believe bring you the best fortune and blessing for 2010.

  • @MrSpiddy Lords of Kobol light our way into the future

  • thank you! Good fortune to you too

  • i want it played during my funeral that and burn baby burn disco inferno... then will ferrel singing dust in the wind

  • Its Irish

    Siúlaigí a chairde, siúlaidh liom

mar cheo an tsléibhe uaine ag imeacht go deo

D'ainneoin ár dtuirse leanfam an tslí

Thar chnoic is thar ghleannta go deireadh na scríb.......

  • i did security on the set of BSG in vancouver film studios i used to listen to them mix these songs i loved bsg and i always will

  • my god ure so lucky my friend??? have u met with actors or any others??? how was the environment??

  • In BSG there is always some ctione, but in SG ( i like it) the things get really boring.
