the way of kings is really starting to annoy me. i'm about halfway through and find it very difficult to continue. the shallan chapters are nearly unreadable, and the rest seems unimportant. also i'm beginning to feel like all of sanderson's writing is directed at 16 year olds. i enjoyed the mistborn trilogy and warbreaker, but this is really turning me off.
@danogzilla TWoK was actually the first book by Sanderson that I've read. After reading the Mistborn trilogy, I do agree that it is very slow paced. However, you can't really compare the two. I believe his intention for WoK is to be more vast than Mistborn was. After all, it is the first book of a planned 10 novel series. If you keep reading, he ties off things quite well, and you discover new things that are more involved in the plot and it just leaves you wanting more. Just my 2 cents.
@danogzilla Wanted to add this as an afterthought. I believe the reason why WoK is difficult to read and power through is because the magic system isn't completely evolved yet. I haven't read Warbreaker/Elantris yet, but from my experience with Mistborn (amazing magic system) is that we knew so much about the magic system from the start. Things were added on, but we had a thorough understanding of it. The same can't be said for WoK yet. When it is established, I am sure it will be fantastic.
The Way of Kings is nothing less but an amazing book. The characters, the World, simply everything, put together forms up to a complex, great novel. I finished reading yesterday and now I suggest to read it right over again. Thank you Brandon for this incredible book.
I didn't realize Brandon Sanderson is so chubby! Goddammit Brandon, I want to read A Memory of Light before the world ends in 2012. I can die happily if I CAN JUST READ THE END OF THESE DAMNED BOOKS!
@jigaboon If you go to brandon's website you can actually track his progress. There's a bar that tells you how far along he is; the last I checked he's 34% finished with the first draft of A Memory of Light
@uberhikari lol, when I read jigaboon's comment and then your own, I thought you were saying that sanderson had a bar on his website that tracked how chubby he is
anyway, every book I've tried from this guy blew me away, im at Mistborn trilogy, after that I have no ideea what to read
my favorite of his books is Elantris, the graphic audio version is one of the best things I've ever experienced
It would have been five stars but the fatc that the noisy fountain seemed like a good spot cost one star.
Sanderson is a new favorite author of mine with the ability to create real characters and tell compelling stories. I can't wait fir the next stormlight book!
I was considering waiting until the entire series is finished but since he is making each book stand on its own I think I might have to dive into it sooner.
This guy is a hero. It would be so daunting to take over the Wheel of Time. I like the way he put it in chunks so we can read bits sooner, and that he didn't even raise his pay to do so.
The fact that Brandon is taking up the Wheel of Time series is impressive and speaks loudly of his ability to write, period. That's an epic honor! But as he described his series, I found myself getting drawn in - not because of the subject matter as much as Brandon being a fascinating person and how he thinks. I imagine that his books are quite intricate and involved. This interview with him has served to pique my interest, that's for sure! Thank you, Moses.
I love way of kings!!!!! Going crazy waiting for the next book.

I never knew about this guy until he took over from the great Robert Jordan.
He is a bloody inspirational writer and a brave man for taking on my beloved WoT novels. I am now reading the Mistborn novels.... Brilliant.

Whose bright idea was it to conduct an interview right next to a noisy fountain? Jesus. Anyways, Brandon is amazing and this was a good interview.
