Kosovo wasn't really a matter of religion despite the burnings of monasteries...which was more a reaction of Albanian speaking Kosovars against their Serb oppressors than it was an action against orthodox religion.
The US had no choice but to support Kosovo independence because when the London Conference of 1913 placed Kosovo in Serbia they made a huge mistake because Kosovo has been Albanian speaking since the 1700's.

I met Bush senior, and he did not speak out much about his sons ruining this country, but I can tell you from dinner conversations that not even Bush W's own father would have gone to war in Iraq!
