This has always been a favorite of mine. When I lived in Houston, some antique store my brother and I visited had about 10 copies of this. Wish I'd bought more than one. I've tried to get my band to cover this tune, but so far, no dice.
MGM sent them out to radio stations to promote the album and were outraged when they found out that the band was telling people not to buy the album because it sucked. They thought that they were good rockin' band and the producer that was given to them had only produced country music before and made them sound very wimpy. MGM wasn't amused and fired them. Chevy Chase went on to play drums with Steely Dan when they were just forming. He left to try comedy before they recorded anything.
@paisleybabee Yeah. It's a fine album. I guess the band didn't feel it "represented" what they were really like, but it's held up really well all these years later.
maybe the best song ever made seriously

So is Ted or Tony singing lead on this? I can't tell who sings what on this album, other than Chevy on "Here's A Song".

NIce Post. Been a fan for years. Not many people know of this band..
Could be the best thing Chevy Chase was a part of.
Haunting beautiful melodies similiar to the Left Banke.
