I have been at every spanish gp since 2004, when there were still the v10's, and every gear change explosion of the cars hit you in the chest like bullets, and when the cars are passing you can not talk with anyone even shouting at the ear and when the race finishes you ears are hurting all the day.
I live 8 miles away from silverstone .. and if it was a still summers day or the wind was right i could here them. this was when it was the V10's btw.
Wich is the loudest car ever? I've read somewhere that back in 98 or 99 FIA decresed the loudness of F1 cars, and in the 90s cars were louder than today.True?
They were probably at their loudest around 2005, when they still had V10's revving over 20,000RPM. I've heard both live at Grand Prix before and the V10s were better, it was like a wall of sound passing straight through your body.
Yes! I have been to several GPs but only F1 testing at Silverstone itself. I'd like to see a GP ther but After Belgium I will never give F1 any more money until they get rid of Mosely and all the corrupt FIA cronies!!
@Jamirofan89 It's about as loud as a Jet Fighter flying overhead on a height of about 40-50m, let's go to an Airshow for that. But still the screeching of an F1 due to high-frequency sounds makes the inside of your head shake. To me it feels like an enormous release of bass when shifting, and feels like someone stamps you in the stomach ( not too hard ofcourse :P ) - But should quite easily beat the sound of a gun ;)
The frequency of the valves opening and closing itself is within the audible range of the human ear. Around 1600Hz close to the rev limiter on the V10's. 1400-1500 for the V8's.

Try standing at the exit of Copse Corner when the race starts and 20 of them go by- it is absolutely amazing.
