  • Then the next conundrum - which ICD-10 or OPL-4 code to use?

  • Spatula?

  • Is this an original tune? If not, does anyone know what it is?

    Thanks, Meridith

  • @brumpbm It's Mozart's Horn Concerto No. 4 in E flat Major

  • @Hypercolumn Sorry for the delay in answering - Thank you.

  • @Hypercolumn .. as used by Flanders and Swann in "Ill Wind"

  • Absolute gold! As a Doc and a horn player it is a real treat :0)

  • if you have anything to say about surgeons then come to afgan and try it out here

  • Turn on the CC.

14 people didn't send letters to resume their dimensions.

  • hahaha GENIUS! <3

  • LOL i just forgot to test for didiadockhonsiaaa ?? in my osce :(

  • I like the 'you must say things...' melody, it's lively ^^

  • Brilliant, I'm not a medical student, so didn't know any of the latin words, but brilliant non the less. Well done guys, very funny. :-)

  • The dorsal horn is part of the spinal cord

  • Transcribe Audio makes it better.

  • Brilliant! This made my day :)

  • brill song

  • But surgeons are excused!!! Hahahahaha!!!! THE BEST!!! 5 STARS!!! Also thanks to the maker of the video, it´s too COOL!!!

  • "You can't say things, like pissing and shitting and FUCK" omg this made my day XD

  • grr. a friend has challenged me to learn to sing this, i can just about say all of the words, slowly. he knows that just about every syllable combination i have difficulties with is in there.

  • No matter what you say, george bush won't understand anything!!!!

  • How could you not love it!

  • These guys remind me of Tom Lehrer! Brilliant!

  • These guys remind me of Tom Lehrer! Brilliant!

  • I should also add that I think it's a great song........ and maybe they used the word 'acronym' because 'abbreviation' has more syllables and therefore wouldn't fit the melody ?

  • Comment removed

  • A few people here saying that several of the terms they use are Greek and not Latin. That's true.

Yet nobody has mentioned that the things they call acronyms are not acronyms but abbreviations. An abbreviation is when you have to pronounce each letter individually, like ECG. An acronym is an abbreviation which can be pronounced as a word on its own - eg NASA (pronounced 'nasser', and not 'N. A. S. A.'.

Yours pedantically and hoping to get out more often......

  • The fact that my university professor who teaches medical translation posted a link to this video is just awesome beyond words...

  • hahahaha how brilliant are these guys!

  • @DaDASHDevil a load of defocrate :P

jokeee they are amazingly spectacularly brillianty good:D:D:D:D

  • this is being posted on Facebook.

  • i like it better with the horn

  • PET stands for positron emission tomography, Dickhead. Im 17 and I know that!!

  • 1) Well done for showing your ignorance yet again.

    2) If its called a joke then how comes it wasn't funny? "Go suck some cock"? Pfft! Clearly, your the one who needs to act your age son, if you think that sucking cock is all that teenagers do these days then your sorely mistaken. Again. Oh, and do learn some grammer, dear. It will make your sort more employable.

  • Shuuuuush, you can get an Internet ASBO too you know!

  • Might like to try learning spelling in English too. Might help.

  • 4 LANGUEGES

  • 1) i thought it was rather funny and

2)if were doing the whole age thing even though its pointless im 16

  • Jesus, some people need to get a proper sense of humour

  • @J999ACK I love it! "Oh, and do learn some grammer" .....GRAMMER??! It's always nice when someone's high-horse turns out to be a donkey. It's GRAMMAR buddy. Nice try though. For someone posing to be so smart and righteous, you sure can f__k up a very simple word.

  • @rage250 You puny mind can scarcely fathom the enormous of f__k I do not give

  • @J999ACK Yet another display of brilliance. It's YOUR puny mind, not "you puny mind...". And where is the rest of that grossly composed sentence? You know, the part between "enormous" & "of"?? (I think you meant to add the word amount? Fortunately, I'm smart enough for both of us) It's beginning to feel a lot like I'm conversing with a "special needs" person. I might be starting to feel guilty about it too! Oh wait... nope, it was just gas. You're fun! Keep it up honey. :)

  • @rage250 Epic win.

  • @J999ACK Looks like you need help too, Grammar :)

  • Well at least they can spell.

  • wow i know all of these words... that means im learning from med school haha... lol

  • @PrinsTsabi at a chiropractic college you learn all of that too and there is no "iatrogenic" when you work on patients!

  • @pumpingiron100 Then I guess you have a really vague idea about what 'iatrogenic' means.

  • LOL... what a slap on the face for the surgeons =p

  • If you work around doctors for long enough, you find out that physicians and surgeons generally detest each other. LOL

  • LMFAO!!

sadly... i know what all of that means!

    truly inspirational video!

thanks for sharing it with us...mindy

  • lol

  • what does the title mean? 0.0

    lol kool song

  • The dorsal horn is a part of the spinal cord.

  • it's actually part of the vertebra ;)

the spinal chord is inside the spine

    Greetz

  • No, it's not part of the vertebra. The dorsal horn is part of the grey matter of the spinal cord, that receives several types of sensory information from the body, like light touch, proprioception and vibration.

  • wow nerd argument :T

  • Everybody learns it 1st year in med. school.

  • as a 2nd medical student i agree with fareja

  • calm down guys. this supposed to be funny! :)

yea dorsal horn is part of spinal cord. i dunno why people give thumbs down for someone asking a question or someone trying to answer a question!!

  • @whitedove3002

The lyrics are also set to a movement of Mozart's 4th Horn Concerto.

    Dorsal Horn - Horn Concerto

  • @zingy636 lol what they said ^_^ also just so you know the song isMozart's horn concerto which accounts in part for the name ^_^

  • You cant say thiings...

like pissing and shitting and FUCK

    ROFL.

  • hilarious. I'm glad I can recognize most of these words.

  • people, people...the vast majority of medical terms are Greek, not Latin. For example, dysdiadochokinesia :

    dys = bad

    diadocho = sequence

    kinesis = movement

Hence dysdiadochokinesia = inabililty to perform movements in sequence

  • that was pritty cool with swearing

  • I love this video

  • LOVE IT

  • lol i've HAD en E.E.G. before and it's NOTHING like the picture in this vid...you just get abbout 30-40 wires stuck to your head, and you just sit down and do whatever...i got an E.E.G. playing W.O.W. on my P.S.P. that i bought from K.O.T.! lol

  • XD lol

  • Disdiadochokinesia is latin and not greek people usually make that mistake

  • I can assure you dysdiadochokinesia is a Greek word! Thus the Dys for difficult is written with a y rather than an i. Y in latin is not phonetically pronounces as an e sound. Dys=difficult, diadocho=sequence, kinesis=movement.

  • Nicely made and very fun to sing i might add, but it's a good vid, make some more like one for The Drug Song, if you havent already

  • what song is this originally from.

  • horn concerto no. 4 in Eb major rondo : allegro vivace by mozart.

  • OMG,fantastic!!

  • LOL @ 1:04

  • That big word is actually Greek lol

  • what long word? the song is full of lone words. lol

  • Disdiadochokinesia. Fairly sure that's Greek and not Latin. :P

  • It's funny that when they talk about latin words they use examples as cachexic, osmosis, haematuria, steatorhoea, iatrogenic, all of which are Greek words!

    Oh well, brilliant song nevertheless!

  • It's doctors latin, which is about half or more greek... but yeah, still called latin

  • musicfanatic:

long word being talked about was

    disdiadochokinesia

a disorder of the cerebellum (motor cortex of the brain) where the patient cant perform repeated movements like flipping the hands from palm up to palm faced down in a repeated alternating fashion... its a cerebellar lesion disorder

every other word wasnt as long as that word :-)

  • thats incorrect

dysdiadochokinesia means inability to coordinate supination and pronation of the forearm quickly and smoothly it is caused by cerebellar ataxia

  • well it sounds like they are defining it by the clinical exam that diagnoses the condition. that seems okay with me.

  • @whitedove3002

read what i posted again... then compare with your definition

    its the SAME SHIT NUMBNUTS!

  • @whitedove3002 Pronation and supination is the same as 'flipping the hands palm up to palm face down' !

  • @whitedove3002 you 're talking about the same thing.

  • @whitedove3002 isnt that what carfan said?? except in laymans terms

  • @whitedove3002 No, it is rapidly alternating movements that are the problem, not simply quickly pronating then supinating, although that is the normal test for it. They would be unable to perform any quickly alternating movement.

  • @whitedove3002 Incomplete definition. Dysdiadochokinesia is symptom of cerebellar ataxion and it means that patient is unable to coordinate quickly changing complex movements, like swapping pronation and supination, without looking at them. So you ask patien to close his eyes and pronate/supinate quickly, as it's the easiest test.

  • @carfan2k2 just fyi, so musicfanatic is not completely misinformed by your incorrect comment - the cerebellum is NOT the motor cortex of the brain. The motor cortex of the brain is an area of the cerebral cortex.

  • to @carfan2k2 from ErikCGWilson:

From the old Schering "Pan" magazine, circe 1960-something:

Whenever he got in a fury, a

    Schizophrenic from Upper Manchuria

    Had pseudocyesis, dysdiachokinesis

    and haematoporphyrinuria.

As the "Post" button did nothing at the top level, try this: Well done, lads!

  • NO thats incorrect

  • how is it posble yo say all these so fast

  • join medicine and u will know how !! :)

  • in other words use drugs

  • @gjhsdjhd in many places, its 2 people taking turns to say a part, but being familiar with the words will help

  • @gjhsdjhd

you get used to the terminology when you study medicine real quickly

  • ahem it says unable twice at 0:37

  • SHIT!!!!!

  • This is absolutely amazing! :) When I finish my end of term egzaminations (i study veterinary medicine), I'll learn to sing it :)

  • sorry, should be "examinations"...

  • Bravo! That was clever.

  • lolololololol the song is so catchy

  • Very Idiopathic!!! ( Were doctor is Idiot and patient is Pathatic)

    Dr. Satyanath., M.D.,

  • Great job on the vid, though I do have a notice, at 0:33 it says unable twice.

  • Perfect :D

  • Szenzációs!!!!

  • bloody brilliant!

  • Am I the only one who actualy believes doctors actualy do this? I have a lot of medical apointments and I always leave feeling thick! Hehe

  • "pissing and shitting and fuck, even though they are the same"

    LOL

  • testicular lumps???

  • @hermionegranger180 there are worse things a person could have aside from ball lumps

  • LMA0 l0l only for doctors , actuly i luv it XD

  • "Like pissing and shitting and fuck"

That line made me laugh so hard :D

  • @jakeyboyjakeypee

yes they both have MD degrees and practices in London

  • very funny

  • Half the words are from greek, not latin!

  • wow, really? I get a minus for saying something that's true? Youtube gets funnier by the day!

  • What's the picture for PE? Shouldn't it be of a knob...!?

  • PE stands for pulmonary embolism

    why should it be knob?

  • But it *also* stands for Premature Ejaculation...

  • i don't think i will find a good pic for that only a vid would be illustrative :D

  • PE usually stands for pulmonary embolism. Every once in a while someone confuses it for pulmonary edema.

  • and physical education...

  • This should be good for at least 1 CEU, huh?

  • Dysdiadochokinesia is confusing....

  • it is one of the symptoms of a neocerebellar disease. Do not confuse it with ideative apraxia, which relates to the cerebral cortex (Broadmann area 39-40).

  • You are a dork. If you're going to be an intellectual snob about Brodmann's numbers (which nobody uses), at least spell it correctly.

  • I think lorenz is a medicine too so he must know these words

  • Mozart - Horn concerto No.3 Rondo-Allegro Vivace

  • thanx bro i tried to avoid the mistakes of other by only adding few words of the lyric and not the whole lyric

  • as a doctor , I would say its a funney way to remember some of these ****** medical terms

    <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<< LoOoOoOoL

  • wow so funny :D

  • lol amazing , right on the spot

    love it

  • its fuckin amaizing!!!

  • so fun

  • Sorry to disagree, but Veterinarians have to know all those things too.

Believe me, I'd sleep much better if I wouldn't have to memorize all those names eventually... =P

All in all, it's a great song, like all their songs. Fantastic video, keep it up! :)

  • i love how the surgens are excused. its the same with veterinarians.
