Unfortunately, David's right that consoles will always be able to produce better graphics for the price if that's what you care about. However, I attend a university where most of the on-campus computers are macs, and we have far more problems with them than with the PCs. The idea that Macs crash less and and function better than PCs is a bunch of BS spread by Apple's negative marketing ads (I'm a mac, I'm a PC) awhile back. But there's no basis whatsoever for that claim.

@wikassbiz although mathematically two 5870 should be double the efficiency of one it is not the case. Going on benchmarks alone, two 5870 have only one third more FPS compared to just one of them. So bang for the buck wise just buy one.
its obvious that no console games can touch crysis but im surprised that no new pc games have beaten it yet. now that the dx11 cards have arrived im pretty sure crysis will get beatten by the end of this year. most likely by crysis 2 since we havent seen anny pc gameplay of it yet :D!!!!!!

In many aspects, Bad Company 2 on Dx11 looks a lot better than Crysis ever did. Even a Tri-SLi Superclocked , water-cooled GTX 480 setup struggles to deal with Crysis. Just shows that the game might be pretty, but it's badly coded.
What version of the mod is this? i have the most recent and i get a ton of errors when i import it. after clicking through "okay" about 40 times i can get it to load in but i cant use the radial menu and the camera is just insanely unstable.

@Boxanadu I have yet to find any game who use physics as good as crysis. When you touch bushes and leaves they fold around you very realistic. Interaction with objects. If u jump really high and land on a tiny roof it will collapse or be bent a bit down depending on your speed. It allso have realistic ballistics for weapons.

The only reason it brought many games to its knees was because of it's poorly-optimized graphics and poor use of advanced depth of field. Have you even played Metro 2033 at full settings? Dude you are completely wrong. They said in an interview that each version of Crysis 2 won't be limited by each other. Each version of the game will utilize the full potential of each console with neither the 360 or PS3 holding each other back. You clearly don't know jack about this. The only thing that could hold back the overall quality of the pc version is making the CryEngine 3 optimized for the consoles. But creating Crysis 2 for consoles itself wouldn't have had much of an effect on the time spent on the PC. They started making Crysis 2 after the CryEngine 3 was made.
But I do agree that consoles are holding back a whole gen in gaming. The mainstream graphics are stuck in 2006.

@ecchibanzaii Thats right, once you start seeing ports of the same game, the game isnt as "dedicated" as the original exclusive to the PC. The graphics are more efficient in Warhead though (clouds arent volumetric for example) but runs at a higher fps.

Most high end GPUs now have atleast 1.5gbs of RAM and you can buy ones with 3gbs. Also the new i7 CPUs are quad cores and can run 3.4Ghz without overclocking. Don't pay attention to the ast0f asshole. He stupid for thinking that Microsoft is a failed company. Without them he wouldn't be able to play more than half games on his "uber badass PC" anyways.

@ecchibanzaii finally another person who understands this whole technological hold back. im almost afriad to upgrade my gpu till the next gen consoles come out so the games will be some what closer to the hardware advance.

@ecchibanzaii Things might be different if people actually bought crysis instead of pirating it like crazy. Publishers make a shitload of money with console-games (although the 360 has problems with piracy). But with pc-games these days? Not so much...except for Blizzard of course.

@PortugieDan atcuatly crysis two has been optimized for the xbox 360 and ps3 so the graphics haven't advanced as much as they could have done. this is because the crytec spent all there time creating a script optimized cryengine 3 (the new game engine for crysis 2) the engine should be called cryengine 2.5 because it hasn't reached the next gen of gaming because its dropping back so the xbox can handle it . sad really :(

Dude you are completely wrong. They said in an interview that each version of Crysis 2 won't be limited by each other. Each version of the game will utilize the full potential of each console with neither the 360 or PS3 holding each other back. You clearly don't know jack about this. Also the CryEngine 3 is and will be just like CryEngine 2 the best game engine for the next 2 or 3 years.

@PortugieDan I'm afraid your the one in the wrong my friend. And I be believe I understand "jack" if by "jack" you mean crytek. The point i was trying to make was not that the software of ether of the consoles is holding back anything, but that the change to console requires heavy optimization. Thus the time spend on consoles as opposed to pc = less money on graphics and more on conversion scripts and optimization. why where console invented they are just holding us back a whole gen in gaming :(

@moosemaster666 I don't really think the console optimization held back anything. The only thing that could hold back the overall quality of the pc version is making the CryEngine 3 optimized for the consoles. But creating Crysis 2 for consoles itself wouldn't have had much of an effect on the time spent on the PC. They started making Crysis 2 after the CryEngine 3 was made.
But I do agree that consoles are holding back a whole gen in gaming. The mainstream graphics are stuck in 2006.

@PortugieDan I must say i am very happy with that last comment you said because we are indeed stuck in 2006 in the console department and thats why im saying time has been wasted making the game for the xbox and ps3. cryengine 3 was designed in mind with use of last gen hardware (xbox & ps3) when hardware for pc's are years ahead. really all im trying to say is that crysis "was" a game for pc fanatics because of it amazing graphics when it came out back in 07 but the advance from 07 to 11......

@PortugieDan ..... has been very small in comparison to the intuitive graphic jump with the original game (compared to other games of that era) thats what i mean by wasting time (which could of been spent making something truly incredible (crysis 2 will still be good) but im not as hyped as i should be because other games are easily equaling the graphic score and probable have higher playable factors aswell e.g. deus ex: human revolution

@YetAnotherTroll The first thing I looked at when playing the game was the car that is stationed outside the room where you first encounter the monster dog like things and those textures wasn't high res or even mid res.

@ecchibanzaii Thats right, once you start seeing ports of the same game, the game isnt as "dedicated" as the original exclusive to the PC. The graphics are more efficient in Warhead though (clouds arent volumetric for example) but runs at a higher fps.

@ecchibanzaii no. windows doesn't give shit games on live. i think they did the right thing making the game for consoles so people that aren't richy bichies with sup'd up computers can play crysis on their console. And um crysis 2 is also on pc duhh so the graphics can be maxed and beter than console duhh. The pc version wud be having the same engine, physics and stuff like crysis 1 would have on pc.

i dk what u mean by sli, haven't heard of that but guess ur graphics card is good, only if it was a 1gb graphics card, and i7 is that a duo or one processor? i've reviewed computers and the intel i7's are usually like 2.8 Ghz each * i5 (even tho not as gud) has over 3Ghz each i've seen.

@ast0f and duh pc's will be always better if you're willing to pay heaps more cash for like may be 2x the graphics in some games like crysis, but still xbox 360 and gaystation 3 both produce very good graphics and are much cheaper than wasting too much money on a pc if u just use it for gaming mainly -.-

@david1991rules4life I'll try to explain a little. SLI is when you connect 2 or more GPUs together to gain higher FPS. Most high end GPUs now have atleast 1.5gbs of RAM and you can buy ones with 3gbs. Also the new i7 CPUs are quad cores and can run 3.4Ghz without overclocking. Don't pay attention to the ast0f asshole. He stupid for thinking that Microsoft is a failed company. Without them he wouldn't be able to play more than half games on his "uber badass PC" anyways.

@BurntSasquachos yer ok i get ya, shame tho windows has like 7 or 8 programs that mac doesn't have that allows windows to get viruses and mac never does just about. Wish they had all games for mac then i'd deff use only mac, but i have windows 7 bootcamp for games so it's all guud :P

@david1991rules4life if u believe macs cant get viruses then u r just a pure idiot. the reason macs dont get infected that much is that a very small percentage of people use macs so theres no point in struggling with creating viruses for macs and hoping that the loser will get it. especially as macs are for businessmen travelling long hours and requiring high battery capacity and for editors, who wont be watching p0rn where most of the viruses are catched from.

@tiger751 what i mean by that is : xbox360 has the "programms" ( more like kernal and apis ) which are superior to ps3 cuz of the xenos ati made for microsoft ... infact it took microsoft up to dx 11 to give to pcs all the graphical futures xbox360 provides such as tesselation and etc .... BUT the thing is it doesnt have the power ! ps3 on the other hand is programmed by a 5yo child with a brick as a brain and has the same apis as dx9 BUT it hasb the power xbox360 lacks ... so they balance out !
