@ghetto300 Hit it right on the head of that nail. The reason why ABC "loses" is because of that tiny element of jazz in the melody. Gives it a little too much cheese. The old ESPN "fails" because of the really bad early 90's late 80's hip hop backbeat sample. It also tries to build but then dies prematurely. Take out the whack beat and finish the theme with a few more bars and you have an awesome Gridiron theme. NBC "wins, successes, and accomplishes" because of one thing, Tesh.

You have to wonder how much of the awesomeness of the NBC theme is linked to its association with Michael Jordan and the Chicago Bulls, not to mention Malone, Stockton, Robinson, Ewing, Starks and all the other great stars and rivalries of the 90's. It's not even the theme itself so much. It's the memories, it's the quality of ball that followed the playing of it. It takes Pacers, Knicks and Bulls fans back to when their teams were competitive and/or overpowering. NBC's coverage was so much better too, you got Sat and Sun doubleheders, TRIPLEheaders late in the season and playoffs. ABC gives you 3 games a month if you're lucky.

Round Ball Rock was the consistent theme and Marv Albert (before the biting incident) was the consistent voice of the NBA. NBC showed the ALL-Star game.
