The interior/gadgets are quite worse than what you get from the Big Luxury 3. However, its outer beauty is nearly unmatched and its power & handling are just as breath-taking. Seriously, the day Bentley, Maserati or Aston Martin will match the interior of Benz, Audi or BMW (in terms of convenience, looks and gadgets) will be epic. Or that the latter match the power and handling of the former, mind you.
@applesmnch2 Actually, I test drove panamera recently, it feels like you have no control of the car at higher speeds compared to aston, it's definitely not a perfect car.
If I ever needed a 4 seat luxury sportscar, I would pick the Maserati Granturismo. The Panamera is ugly as hell, this one looks good from the outside but is incredibly cramped on the inside, even in the front seats, and the small windows don't help either.

The Panamera may be ugly but part of its ugliness is because it provides a lot of (head) space in the fond and a sizable boot. The Rapide is really a 2+2 seater with 4 doors. Bu there is no better looking sedan in the world I think.

@morito12345678 Not really, it costs more than a Panamera by $50k and does 60 in 5.1 seconds whereas the Panamera Turbo does 60 in 3.6. Not to mention handling and all around performance of the Porsche is better. And let's be honest, $200k would be better spent on an S65 AMG.

If I want to sacrifice practicality for looks, I'd buy the DB9. NOTHING is better looking than a real coupe. If I want practicality, there's a lot to choose from apart from Panamera so it ain't a crisis. There's the Jaguar XJ and Maserati Quattroporte to start with. Need both looks, sportiness, comfort and practicality? there's the XFR.
For the price of this Aston I would prefer to add just a few thousand more and purchase a Rolls Royce Ghost. I think it's also a beautiful car inside and out, but with all the luxury and space a Rolls provide.
I think the Rolls Royce Ghost is a good investment but it's not really good to compare it to the Aston. The Aston is more of a sporty Executive saloon whereas the Rolls is a Luxury yacht for the typical Businessman.
Aston should have given it proper seats. It's a softer version of a DB9 so it's not necessary to have bucket seats like the Maserati Quattroporte for instance.
And also give it more HP about 500+ in total. Then it would be a winner like the Bentley Continental Flying spur.

Yes they are in different league, but since the Rapide is close to the price of the Ghost, I'd rather put the extra money and get the Ghost. I love Aston Martins! But for the price of the Rapide, I can purchase a CLS63, and a 2010 E63 AMG both with 500 + horse power. Astons are great looking cars! But considering the power and performace of other sport sedans, I'd have to say with the Rapide, Aston didn't offer enough.

It's still beautiful, Aston didn't follow Porsche with that ugly Panamera.
It's quite practical, it does take 4 persons. Enough i'd think.

But, seriously, the Aston Martin looks way better than the Panamera on video. In person, I think it's a bit closer of a battle, and I like the Porsche interior much better.

@morito12345678 Yea its too bad the Rapide's backseat is small and useless to fit in rather than Porsche's Panamera where you can sit in COMFORT and not to mention that its faster than the Rapide.
The Rapide doesnt stand a chance against the Panamera. If a Rapide pulled up against a Panamera at a traffic light, it wouldn want to race the Porsche.
Nothing beats German engineering!

@morito12345678 Not really, it costs more than a Panamera by $50k and does 60 in 5.1 seconds whereas the Panamera Turbo does 60 in 3.6. Not to mention handling and all around performance of the Porsche is better. And let's be honest, $200k would be better spent on an S65 AMG.

money no problem this beats everything because it is just gorgeous and far more unique than a Merc (too ordinary looking for that kind of money, couldn't care less if its 5 secs faster to 60 for eg) i need stand out style for that price, and a trillion times better looking than the very very ugly Panamera( not sure about the handling but the porsche should be faster more powerful after-all and turbo charged, could be as fast as a Bugatti but still too ugly), this or a Maserati.

The Panamera is faster to 60, but the Aston looks better and is way more exclusive...Also, the Aston has a beautiful interior and did extensive hot-weather testing.

Rapide is slightly faster than the DB9 and the Panamera is pretty much a luxurious German Lancer EVO 10. Stock DB9 would devour a stock EVO 10 Lancer

This is a great car and all but sacrificing practicality for looks in a sedan? that's really pointless. And whoever disagrees is biased.
If I want to sacrifice practicality for looks, I'd buy the DB9. NOTHING is better looking than a real coupe. If I want practicality, there's a lot to choose from apart from Panamera so it ain't a crisis. There's the Jaguar XJ and Maserati Quattroporte to start with. Need both looks, sportiness, comfort and practicality? there's the XFR.

For the price of this Aston I would prefer to add just a few thousand more and purchase a Rolls Royce Ghost. I think it's also a beautiful car inside and out, but with all the luxury and space a Rolls provide.

I think the Rolls Royce Ghost is a good investment but it's not really good to compare it to the Aston. The Aston is more of a sporty Executive saloon whereas the Rolls is a Luxury yacht for the typical Businessman.
Aston should have given it proper seats. It's a softer version of a DB9 so it's not necessary to have bucket seats like the Maserati Quattroporte for instance.
And also give it more HP about 500+ in total. Then it would be a winner like the Bentley Continental Flying spur.

I quite agree with all your comments! And this is exactly what I was saying. Yes they are in different league, but since the Rapide is close to the price of the Ghost, I'd rather put the extra money and get the Ghost. I love Aston Martins! But for the price of the Rapide, I can purchase a CLS63, and a 2010 E63 AMG both with 500 + horse power. Astons are great looking cars! But considering the power and performace of other sport sedans, I'd have to say with the Rapide, Aston didn't offer enough.

Or spend the same amount of money on a DBS. All I need in an Aston is that V12 and the looks that could melt a radiator.
Wish they made a smaller version of the Rapide though with space similar to the XF or such and a V8 under the bonnet.

you're right when you suggested spending that money on the DBS as another option, instead of the Rapide! Also, I saw the Jaguar XF at the Detroit Auto Show, and It's a beautiful car. So, I couldn't see myself spending over $200,000.00 for a Rapide when there is the XF, CLS/E63 AMG, BMW M5, all faster and considerably less. Have you ever seen the Alfa Romeo 8c in person? Some say it's the best looking sports car they've seen! Do you agree? I have not seen it in person! What do you think?

They subconsciously want an intelligent, well heeled formal gentleman with great taste, who is confident, and with the idea to eventually have a family in his future; which is perfectly acceptable.
