Yes it's true some people just don't want to work but that's not all of it. There are many factors that cause poverty and you ignore the fact that poverty is oft a vicious circle that's hard to break out of. Education is a good way out that's why it should be affordable for everyone.
Yes, poverty is a vicious cycle. I have second hand experience as my mother is a social worker at a local homeless shelter for women with children. This private, non-profit organization takes women with children or pregnant, provides them a place to live, funds a college education, teaches them life skills and critical thinking skills, and helps them find a job after graduation. Their success rate is approx 95% which is significantly higher than any government run program.
If what you're saying is True then I applaud that program. Thing is, are such programs available throughout the entire nation? What's their capacity? My own country of The Netherlands is a prosperous free market economy + all the government services I described and more. Hence why I said a little socialism doesn't hurt and has in fact worked great for western Europe, which remained free prosperous and capitalistic in spite of a little evil lazy socialism here and there.
