I believe most of the top fights in the US are around 5 million like Cyborg vs Carano,the Kimbo fights, and Ortiz vs Shamrock. K-1 Premium Sapp vs Akebono in 03 was watched by 42% of Japan which is 54 million people. If Pride / K-1 only hit 1 million views in their hayday that would be a major failure on their part.

i think Pride can be more brutal because kicks to a downed opponent are alllowed. so this includes face stomps, so what is harder than that? Although a nice elbow can cause a bloodbath which is fun to see, and those are prevalent in the ufc?

Cro Cop was definately better in Pride but all in all, it depends on what rules you like. The old days of the UFC were more like Pride then the new evolved UFC is.
Anderson Silva is doing the best in UFC now out of the guys that came from Pride to UFC.
No UFC guys have been able to even score any damage to Anderson Silva! Especially Forrest Griffin, he looked like a kid on a playground compared to Anderson Silva. No offense to Forrest Griffin. Anderson is just the man. Anderson's fight with Demian Maia was kind of boring though. But most of them are incredible to watch.

i only saw one EXCEPTIONAL MMA fight and that was Mirko Crocop vs. Fedor Emelianenko. Everything ive seen since then resembles entertainment more than competition. Crocop-Emelianenko was highly competitve, long-distance and brutal. Hats off to both. Crocop has much to be proud of despite his loss.

reasons that Pride was a better representation of real combat: 10 minuite first round, yellow cards for stalling, restarting on the ground in the same position, knees and stomps to a downed opponent, no vaseline (even when applied only to the face, a couple punches and it gets smeared all over you're hands making submissions more difficult to apply) I think the ring favours skill,while the cage strength. Pride was more technical and more brutal. plus they had Bas commentating.
There are great fighters in the UFC and i enjoy watchin some of the fights. But if i had to choose between the two Pride gets my vote. Great fighters, Greater fights. And most of all it showcased my person fav fighter ever, 39.

I think you got it all mixed up. Everyone went to ufc in hopes of going to pride. Ask any fighter and they will tell you they rather fight in pride than ufc.

Let me break it down for you , pride is so much better than ufc . ufc is the best around now but the rules are so bad thats why fedor will not fight here . First the cage when your on the floor your taught to you can lean up against it to get back up . secound no head stomps no soccer kicks , why do you think silva lost to chuck . knocked him down could only let him get back up and fight chucks fight . ufc is a kids game compared to pride .

But Pride was internationl tournament, UFC is just American one.

There are great fighters in the UFC and i enjoy watchin some of the fights. But if i had to choose between the two Pride gets my vote. Great fighters, Greater fights. And most of all it showcased my person fav fighter ever, 39.
for those who don't know what that represents i'll give a hint, The IQ wrestler, pro wrestling messiah, Water, Submission Magician, The GRACIE HUNTER.
If you're an MMA fan and don't know what that means then you got some studying to do.

I think you got it all mixed up. Everyone went to ufc in hopes of going to pride. Ask any fighter and they will tell you they rather fight in pride than ufc.
Theres no motivation to train when you go from 70000 screaming fans who are educated fans, to an arena thats not even 1/2 the size and whose fans knows almost nothing about mma.

UFC of course, pride is minor league system that the fighters have to come up through to get to the UFC.
I love how they show one of the top fighters in pride, Mirko get his ass handed to him by a ham and egg UFC fighter. Gonzaga knocking Mirko the fuck out is one of the best KO's of all time. Tonight on UFC they show Mirko getting his ass handed to him by another low ranked UFC fighter. Fedor is a scared pussy and will avoid the UFC at all costs.

@billy56081 lol u little boy probably just came in.. pride was boss back then ufc begged for a tournament to let chuck liddel fight in pride who got whooped by rampage.. and then rampage came to ufc and whooped top ufc contender chuck lidell ... again.. so crocop vs gonzaga? that was crocop past his prime.. if gonzaga would face crocop or fedor or nog in his prime he would probably wish is still was in the womb of his mom and that counts for every ufc fighter...

Pride! Pride is light years ahead of UFC or any other organisations even now that it is gone.
Pride made MMA a sport and glorified it. The fighters were proud to fight for the fans and the management
Not to mention we have the most educated and respectful crowd, the most spectacular entrance, the best fighters, slickest submission ( Think anaconda, gogoplata), greatest matches. And our fighters never quit!
Of course, we slam them, knee them, soccer kick and stomp them.

:) maybe because pride doesn't exist anymore it was bought and dismantled by zuffa the company that also owns the UFC and many pride fighters went to the UFC at that point. Hate zuffa for doing this but nothing i can do about it but well there are still other good mma organisations like pancrasedream etc.. and although I liked pride more and think they had more good fights on 1 card i also find the ufc intresting to watch.

pride or ufc? pride was fucking insane and had great fights. ufc has had some great fights as well. the rules may make for some less exciting but they are necessary for the safety of the fighters. ufc has great fighters and great fights, pride is done with so ufc is better, but it needs fedor to be on top

Let me break it down for you , pride is so much better than ufc . ufc is the best around now but the rules are so bad thats why fedor will not fight here . First the cage when your on the floor your taught to you can lean up against it to get back up . secound no head stomps no soccer kicks , why do you think silva lost to chuck . knocked him down could only let him get back up and fight chucks fight . ufc is a kids game compared to pride .

theres many more, but these guys are more than a match for any ufc fighter
