  • tyr is from faroe island

  • @1:03 METAL TIGGER! :DDDDD

  • independence for faroe islands, scotland and catalonia!!

  • @wargoblins

I am from The Faroe Islands, and frankly I dont understand why it has to be close to "Viking" stuff. Tyr is one of my favorite bands, but the country itself isnt anything viking like.

Also the fact that this song was written 800 years after The Faroes had been Christened, so it doesnt represent vikings at all ...

  • @Jogvan1000 That's the point. You aren't a pagan are you? Because i am.

Todays Scandinavian countries are not so Viking no, but they used to be home to the Vikings long times ago and that is what it matters. History my friend, it has a bigimpact.

  • "Gud signi Føroyar mítt land". Fý for helviti sigi eg bara

  • @MrHelviti also tak tað róligt maður!

  • @DrebinNr893 Referansa til Grillbúðin hjá Símun 2 maybe? ;)

  • @MrHelviti hehehe you know it

  • @MrHelviti ??

  • Hail from the brother country Denmark. Nordic Might!!!

  • I'm from denmark, so my voice doesn't count, but in general I think the anthem reminds me too much of the christian stuff my Faroese grandma always played on her Organ. It's pretty far from "Viking".

  • why did they take a giant shit on our anthem

  • I love tyr I come from the same country as them <333

  • hail from the brother country sweden. nordic might !!!!!!

  • @doomslayer12able skál!

  • i was told that færeyjar means the ilands of sheeps which is actually the main food of both faroese and icelanders

  • @siggifafnir in icelandic the name was fjáreyjur which means sheepilands ,,,but i was told that long ago i could be wrong

  • but anywai the anthem is beutiful.

  • im calling 911 there is a dislike button!!!!!!!!!!

  • Tyr are awesome. I'd love to visit the Faroe Islands.

    And Faroese women are hotttttt!!!!

  • What national anthem?

  • @dvssk8er3 Its the Faroe islands national anthem but just in a heavy metal cover :)

  • Does someone explain me if Faroeses want to be indipendent or not? I received different informations about that, and I begin to don't understand.... I read Faroes Island are still danish because money they receive from Denmark but I can't believe it is the only reason!

(sorry for my English, I don't use it very much).

  • @AnnaAdrienne The Faroe Islands are not an independent country yet, but we have our own goverment.

approximately 50% of the Faroese people want indepence and 50% don't.

    SUPPORT FAROESE INDEPENCE!

  • @vertyy you have my support brother!

Greetings from your founding fathers! NORWAY!

  • @smashbar333

Norway was not our founding fathers... Faroe islands was discovered by Irish monks :P

  • @pilsnar90 first irish monks, then they were chased away by the vikings

the norwegian vikings were the ones who founded the feroese

the monks did not play any real role there

  • @smashbar333 the monks discovered named the islands and thus they founded it. The Norwegian vikings played a bigger part and made faroe islands what it was. But they did not found it.

  • @pilsnar90 erm... they probably gave it a different name

Færøyene, as it was called in norway, basicly means "Islands far away" from old norse

but i think you get something mixed up, iceland was colonized by monks a while, until the vikings chased them away

and just giving it a name does not mean you found it

  • @smashbar333 it's true that irish monks are the first known people on the faroe island.. and "færøerne" as its called in danish basicly means "sheep islands".. (not saying it doesnt mean anything else in norwegian)

but it was the irish monks that were the first on the faroe island

  • @okkurtlort Færøyene means far away or travel islands in norway also, but in Norse Fær, means far

and yet you might be correct with the monk thing... altough vikings did found the settlements on the færøyene

the Norwegian vikings, gave it it`s name, and from then on they developed... the vikings did not play a major role

  • @smashbar333 there is evidence and documents that irish monks were the first to settle the islands, but they obviously left again, because when the vikings found them there were no people living there. but they found alot of sheep on the islands, which also indicates that there were settlements before the vikings. the vikings (the early faroese settlers) named the islands "sheep islands" because of all the sheep. now it's called Føroyar, which also means Sheep Islands, it's just a different word

  • @vertyy Why you need independence from Denmark? What you gone to do like country?

  • @norradans The Faroese will rule the world by 2050 if Denmark grants them full indepence, just like the english will have a hissy fit and nuke the british isles once the uk falls apart.

  • @mothman64 stop taking LSD!!!

  • @norradans ive only done LSD once at a music festival, it was interesting to say the least.

  • @mothman64 Fucking freaks! When you're all going to die?!

  • @norradans excuse me you slavic peice of shit, when are you and your slimy people gonna crawl back into the belarussian marsh you slivered out of? why would you wish the deaths of those who have tried a particular substance, its evident you believe me to be a spinless north american hippy based on a single expierience I had, you dont like what i have to say because russia itself will most definatly fall apart, look at all of the cultures you attempted to stamp out, their still their, and angry.

  • @mothman64 I do not understand you! Speak on white English, please!

  • @norradans I am speaking in English.

  • @AnnaAdrienne The Faroe Islands are a constituent country of the Kingdom of Denmark. The Faroe Islands have been a self-governing dependency of the Kingdom of Denmark since 1948. Over the years, the Faroese have been granted control of some matters. Areas which remain the responsibility of Denmark include military defence, police, justice, currency and foreign affairs.

  • Hell asarne! Gott att se nordmän intressera sig för sin egen kultur, i stället för att allenast intressera sig för Amerika. 8)

  • From feroesse Føroyar in romanian language is "oier" for the sheperd and "oi" for sheep...lol

  • @KrisdashPaul One, and only around four metal bands in total:)

  • Vit burdu seriøst skift tekstin, so at ístaðin fyri: "guð signið Føroyar mítt land" at tað bleiv til: "Óðin signið Føroyar mítt land"

  • @Zashamankh How you spell the words is almost the same, yes. But how you pronounce the words... No.

  • true :o)

  • @Zashamankh They are both the closest decendants to old norse (and they have almost no "affaction" from foreign languages:)

  • @Zashamankh I can understand the name of the song somewhat to, and I'm from Sweden ;) Have a bit trouble with the comments though :(

  • @styrheim doesn't he hate the faroes and everything assosiated with romantic-nationalism (not sure if that is the right term, but the nationalism that is about love for ones country, heritage and stuff... Not the one about hating other cultures and people)
