I really don´t mind waiting at all. It just makes whichever video you post even more special. I prefer to see something great once in a while, than something mediocre or completely off topic just for the sake of having something out.

For you, losing those files might mean something way deeper than a broken hard drive. I don't really know how to say this, but you should definitely think more positive about this. (I know, it's hard, but it would pay off, I promise!) :)

Also, I've encountered a similar problem to your worries about legalities of music use, and one of the best things I've found to get royalty free music that spans a wide variety of genres, feelings, etc, is this website (I had to put in spaces)

The best thing I've found about that website is the different methods they have to sort through music like "feeling" or "genre."
depending on what's damaged on your hard-drive you might not have to spend as much as you thought. If it's just the connection to your laptop that's not working you could get someone to simply take the "guts" out and put them into a different casing, or even just replacing the actual connection. You might be able to get some free advice from the geek squad if you have a nearby Best Buy, without actually commiting yourself to them fixing it.
Ignore those idiots that don't have the patience to wait for your videos. Life happens and stuff comes up. Right now school is better to focus on then listening to whiny subscribers that spend their time posting stupid comments or threatening to unsubscribe from you. If they unsubscribe, that is their decision (A stupid decision but it's their fault). Don't listen to them, do want you want to do and do what is important to you. The loyal subscribers will still be here when you come back :)

You could purchase an external docking bay / HDD reader which should be $100 - $200 and then copy the info onto a new comp or burn to disk. Much more affordable and you can then use an old harddrive like a storage disk. I am Good luck with taking you life into your own hands and truly being the creater / mistress of your fate! You are doing the right thing... even if it feels completely insane right now.
For what it's worth, I understand how you're feeling. I had a time in my life exactly like this, and the problems just would not end. I ended up worrying about everything, things that where really OK, and I think that's where things go wrong.
What helped me (I know it sounds cliché), is to write a list with all your worries, and sort them after importance. Cross out the things you can't do anything about. Third, arrange the things you can get help with, and what you can manage.
And BTW: I never understood people who say that, "you're not posting videos -- I'm gonna unsubscribe!!"
I thought the point of subscribing was to easier follow the uploads, so you don't have to go around and wait.. It's kind of ironic, and I think it's very ignorant to use it as a threat!

Soooo I'm sure you've already looked into everything to save your data, and it may be the hard drive itself...but it could be something with the case and you can try taking the hard drive out of the case and put it in another case. Do what must be done. We can wait. We care about you, Auds, and we know how passionate you are. No one puts as much effort into something as much as you do unless they have passion for it. Effort takes time, and time is scarce. Most of us get that; as for the others, screw 'em. (; If they can't understand it, they need to go find something else to do. :D

Do you ever use an external hard drive? I take so many photos. I have them backed up on two external drives just in case. I hate that this had to happen to you. It's very frustrating to lose things we work so hard on. Is there no way to recover that data?

Remember, the world is your oyster. Try everything! Do everything! If you love all of those things great! They'll all work themselves into one another. I'm just like that. You should make a video calling out to independent musical artists so you can use their music in your videos. You have a ton of subscribers and views, it would really work AND give exposure to independent artists. Really, think about it. Then you don't have to worry about copyright issues.

I know it's hard to stop stressing out about something you are so passionate about, but sometimes we have to relax a bit and think that all of the "mess" that is happening right now is going to be over sooner or later... we should think about the outcome on the long run. Well I'm just glad you are not deleting your channel ^_^ and if you only post 1 video a month I would still be happy because like everyone else said it's worth waiting for. Yeah I understand about the copyright thing it seems youtube seems to really only hit small people because there are so many really big people on here that use music all the time but yet some people who don't have many get hit for copyright. Katers17 just got hit for music that wasn't even in the video hahaha.
I use royalty free music for my videos, normally I use Kevin MacLeod and danosongs(dot)com for danosongs you do have to give him credit or you have to pay 10 bucks for each uncredited song you used. I always give credit to both of them on each video just in case :) Kevin M. has a huge variety of songs with different genres and tempos. Good luck!!!
LOL, we're pretty much the same, I also lay in bed thinking I have soooo many stuff to do and don't get my ass up to do them and then the day is over, did nothing, feel depressed about not doing anything, LOL When I became partner I had to delete a few videos and change music to a lot of them too. It's hard work and you sometimes think ppl won't like the fact that you are re-uploading, but some enjoy it because they haven't seen it before or just want to watch it again, so don't worry about it.
Please don't let yourself be stressed by dumdums who threaten (empty threats likely) you with unsubscribing! They've been spoiled by those who post frequently so they think they are owed that -- how laughable! My very favorite youtubers are the ones that come up with amazing vids that take time and energy to create (like beautyqq and sasakiasahi) so they are comparatively infrequent. If you continue posting the same quality work you've been doing, there always will be plenty subscribers :).

Also, I've encountered a similar problem to your worries about legalities of music use, and one of the best things I've found to get royalty free music that spans a wide variety of genres, feelings, etc, is this website (I had to put in spaces)

depending on what's damaged on your hard-drive you might not have to spend as much as you thought. If it's just the connection to your laptop that's not working you could get someone to simply take the "guts" out and put them into a different casing, or even just replacing the actual connection. You might be able to get some free advice from the geek squad if you have a nearby Best Buy, without actually commiting yourself to them fixing it.

Ignore those idiots that don't have the patience to wait for your videos. Life happens and stuff comes up. Right now school is better to focus on then listening to whiny subscribers that spend their time posting stupid comments or threatening to unsubscribe from you. If they unsubscribe, that is their decision (A stupid decision but it's their fault). Don't listen to them, do want you want to do and do what is important to you. The loyal subscribers will still be here when you come back :)

You could purchase an external docking bay / HDD reader which should be $100 - $200 and then copy the info onto a new comp or burn to disk. Much more affordable and you can then use an old harddrive like a storage disk. I am Good luck with taking you life into your own hands and truly being the creater / mistress of your fate! You are doing the right thing... even if it feels completely insane right now.

For what it's worth, I understand how you're feeling. I had a time in my life exactly like this, and the problems just would not end. I ended up worrying about everything, things that where really OK, and I think that's where things go wrong.
What helped me (I know it sounds cliché), is to write a list with all your worries, and sort them after importance. Cross out the things you can't do anything about. Third, arrange the things you can get help with, and what you can manage.

I understand how you're feeling, the transition from teen years to adulthood is very stressful. But you shouldn't stress over your channel, it should be something that you do for fun and relax with. Do you ever use an external hard drive? I take so many photos. I have them backed up on two external drives just in case. I hate that this had to happen to you. It's very frustrating to lose things we work so hard on. Is there no way to recover that data?

You have NO IDEA how i know how you feel! My pc got a virus and i lost EVERYTHING! My pictures, projects....films....So many important things that was not done yet. And yes also few tutorials i made for my channel. And didnt have time to finish them, and then i lost them. DEEP SIGH.

I wish I could upload vids every week or twice a week.. but during all the stuff I also have to do in my normal life, like work and studies... there is hardly tiem to do it that often.. so take your time for every video you need... cause they are always amazing and they are worth to wait... Cause you are gorgeous :)

I really really enjoy your videos, but I think you should focus on school for the time being. Like school basically gets you places... Yeah. And don't worry about putting out makeup videos right now. I know how much effort and such goes into one makeup video. And I feel so bad for you loosing your hard drive :'( luv u -3

You should make a video calling out to independent musical artists so you can use their music in your videos. You have a ton of subscribers and views, it would really work AND give exposure to independent artists. Really, think about it. Then you don't have to worry about copyright issues.

I just want you to know, that I went through my sub list and unsubbed to almost every beauty channel..then when I saw yours I was like oh hell no I am keeping her!
I get those depressed phases too. In one right now..that's probably why I was subbed to like 500 people lol. Needed something to take my mind off things. Anyway. That music thing is a pain in the ass..it's not fair. Come back soon. I'll be here :)

I know it's hard to stop stressing out about something you are so passionate about, but sometimes we have to relax a bit and think that all of the "mess" that is happening right now is going to be over sooner or later... we should think about the outcome on the long run. Believe me, I have a bachelors degree in Psychology and Mental health and also I'm starting as a cosmetologist and makeup artist myself so I have been a stress ball for the past 6 to 7 yrs of my life! Well I'm just glad you are not deleting your channel ^_^ and if you only post 1 video a month I would still be happy because like everyone else said it's worth waiting for. Yeah I understand about the copyright thing it seems youtube seems to really only hit small people because there are so many really big people on here that use music all the time but yet some people who don't have many get hit for copyright. Katers17 just got hit for music that wasn't even in the video hahaha.

I use royalty free music for my videos, normally I use Kevin MacLeod and danosongs(dot)com for danosongs you do have to give him credit or you have to pay 10 bucks for each uncredited song you used. I always give credit to both of them on each video just in case :) Kevin M. has a huge variety of songs with different genres and tempos. Good luck!!!

LOL, we're pretty much the same, I also lay in bed thinking I have soooo many stuff to do and don't get my ass up to do them and then the day is over, did nothing, feel depressed about not doing anything, LOL When I became partner I had to delete a few videos and change music to a lot of them too. It's hard work and you sometimes think ppl won't like the fact that you are re-uploading, but some enjoy it because they haven't seen it before or just want to watch it again, so don't worry about it.

Please don't let yourself be stressed by dumdums who threaten (empty threats likely) you with unsubscribing! They've been spoiled by those who post frequently so they think they are owed that -- how laughable! My very favorite youtubers are the ones that come up with amazing vids that take time and energy to create (like beautyqq and sasakiasahi) so they are comparatively infrequent. If you continue posting the same quality work you've been doing, there always will be plenty subscribers :).
